Today, I'm taking you on a tour of the Pearl of the Pacific: Mazatlan, Mexico! It was laid back, authentic & a budget friendly beach vacation.
In this travel guide I provide an overview of everything you need to know for visiting Mazatlan. We tour through the different neighborhoods (Zona Dorada, Olas Atlas and Centro were my favorites), stroll the Malecon, take you on a Pulmonia ride, visit the shrimp ladies, take in the views of all the neoclassical architecture, find incredible sunsets and more! MAZATLAN | CITY TOUR EXCURSION | PLACES TO VISIT | CARNIVAL PANORAMA
During our Carnival Panorama cruise, we did the Amazing City Tour for our Mazatlán excursion. The tour was with certified guide Armando Zatarain (from the company Viajes El Paraiso). There are many great places to visit in Mazatlán, the tour included stops at the following: World's Tallest Lighthouse, Playa Norte Coastline, Beatles Monument, Cliff Divers, Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Malecón, Golden Zone, New Mazatlán, and Las Changueras. We had lunch at Tacos El Chile and ended the tour with some beach time at Las Palmas Beach Resort.

We explored the best places to go in Chiapas during an amazing 12-day road trip. In this video, we break down the best places to go in Chiapas, Mexico from our perspective. We had an amazing time visiting these Chiapas destinations and would highly recommend a road trip of your own one day to see them! Places we visited included: El Chiffon, Lagunas de Montebello, Las Nubes, the Lacandon Jungle, Palenque, San Cristobal de las Casas, and the Sumidero Canyon. 1. El Chiflón
The first stop on our Chiapas road trip was El Chiflón, near the city of Comitán. This is possibly the best place to go in Chiapas because of its otherworldly beauty. El Chiflon had some of the most beautiful waterfalls we have ever seen in our lives.
2. Lagunas de Montebello
Only 85 kilometres, or 53 miles, South from El Chiflon are the Lagunas de Montebello. This national park consists of 59 multi-coloured lakes in a pine forest. It’s a great place to hike, horse-back ride, drive around, and explore the lakes by traditional “balsa” boats.
3. Las Nubes
The next stop on our road trip was Las Nubes. The town and waterfalls are tucked away in the Chiapas jungle and don’t attract as many tourists as the other Chiapas highlights. This is why Las Nubes is truly one of the best places to go in Chiapas. The waterfalls stretch for kilometres and we highly recommend doing the full trail to the various viewpoints.
4. Lacandon jungle
The Lacandon Jungle is the most unique place to go in Chiapas! Not only is this the biggest rainforest in Mexico, but it is also home to the Lacandon people, who are the descendants of the ancient Maya. When the Spanish arrived in Mexico, this group fled to the jungle and survived as a culture by living deep in the rainforest. They were out of contact with the rest of the world until the 20th century.
5. Palenque
Palenque was the next stop on our road trip and one of the most famous places to go in Chiapas. Known for its mighty Mayan temples, this place is one of the best examples of Maya architecture in Mexico. Only 2% of the ruins are uncovered, which means that 98% are still covered by the surrounding land. We went on a 3 hour tour of the ruins and the jungle, which we highly recommend. During the final jungle part you’ll uncover houses of the Mayan people and find unique animals of the area.
6. San cristobal de las Casas
The colonial town of San Cristobal de las Casas is arguably one of the prettiest cities in all of Mexico. Its Historical Centre is filled with gorgeous colourful architecture and wide patios against a mountain backdrop. But besides being charming, this town is also extremely interesting thanks to its ancient past and blend of different cultures.
7. Sumidero Canyon
The Sumidero Canyon was the final stop on our road trip around Chiapas. It’s located right outside the city of Tuxtla Guttierez, and can be explored from the water as well as from the canyon walls. We did a boat ride from Chiapa de Corzo, which takes you through the canyon for 2 to 3 hours.

Come along with me as Freddy shows me all the cool tourist attractions (and more) of Mazatlan Mexico. This is just a sample of what his tour has to offer. We will cruise on his Pulmonia (open air taxi) while he educates us on all the tourist attractions. He shows you all the statues and the meanings of them, takes you to all the great photo ops, & teaches you a lot of Mazatlan history, so you go home literally with best photo album of pics you could imagine.

MAZATLÁN SINALOA - Mexico's Best Beaches? Isla de los Venados (Deer Island) + SUNSET VIEWS!
Mazatlán, Sinaloa - Mazatlán is located in the state of Sinaloa but it would be completely wrong to assume that it is a dangerous city not worth a visit. This city has some of the best beaches and islands that you'll find in Mexico and with little commercialization and advertisements from foreigners, you will find mostly local Mexicans enjoying the beautiful white sand beaches and blue waters of Mazatlán. In this video, we take a boat trip over the Isla de los Venados and finish off sunset at the viewpoint of Mazatlán.

ARTESANOS FAIR IN MAZATAN MEXICO
You still have time to go check out the Artesanos fair tents in the Sorianas Parking lot, here in Mazatlan Mexico. This is a fun thing that comes every year and was paused the last 2 years due to Covid, but its back on. Go over and check it out, so much stuff to see. Anything from gems, crystals, coffee, tequila, pots, hammocks and much more. Many of the vendors spoke english so we got to ask many questions of all the products. I enjoy this event and look forward to it every year, so I am glad its back. If your hungry there is snacks, ice cream and lots more to enjoy.

Where did we stay? We suggest staying in the Centro Historico part of Mazatán. In our next Mazatlán video we explore the Golden Zone (Zona Dorada), which is another area with plenty of hotels, but I believe you'll have a better time in Mazatlán if you stay in the downtown area near Playa Olas Altas.
