Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment. We discovered the world of “travel hacking” & became obsessed. So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world. Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went home to “normal life.” We started this travel vlog to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with this lifestyle and did everything we could to keep going. 4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time. Van life was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. ????????????

Nordic Series Chapter 5: Adventure of a Lifetime (Svalbard)
Iceland was my most remote place to visit. But now, Svalbard and Jan Mayen takes the 1st spot. Svalbard is the place where polar bear is more than human. There are about 3,000 polar bears while human population is just around 2,500. 78 degree North high up the latitude, close to the North Pole, raw Arctic tundra, 60% of Svalbard covered by glaciers, majestic mountains, blue sea ice, animals like polar bear to walrus to seal to polar fox, the cold breeze & extreme weather and the total wilderness make Svalbard is on a whole nother level. An adventure of a lifetime I’d say.
I’ve been to Iceland 2x and Norway 3x, so I’m guessing my recent trip to Svalbard was my last trip to Norway. I always love be in the Nordic region especially in the northern hemisphere. I feel a sense of belonging there. I love everything about Iceland & Norway; the nature, landscape, northern lights, weather, wildlife, people etc. But I guess its time to bid farewell. Nevertheless, you’re always have a special place in my heart.

Ik was op dezelfde dag ook in Monreal en ging daar te voet heen uit Mayen, want de trein reed niet.
Jag besökte Monreal på samma dag och gick dit till fots, eftersom tåget inte körde.
