The Canton of Valais / Wallis is one of Switzerland’s most touristy and fascinating regions. It is well-known due to the world-famous Matterhorn, the villages of Zermatt and Saas Fee and the many other skiing resorts. However, the Canton of Valais / Wallis offers way more than these: There are plenty of other attractions such as dams, villages, mountain tops, panoramas, zip lines, lakes, funiculars, glaciers museums, thermal baths, hiking trails, bisses, castles and train lines. This video summarizes the Top 15 attractions in brief, including all the necessary information one needs when planning his/her trip to the Canton of Valais / Wallis.
A highlight is definitely Zermatt with the Gornergrat and the panorama up to the Matterhorn. Furthermore, Zermatt is a wonderful village to visit. The Aletsch Glacier is also a place one shall not miss when visiting the canton of Valais. It's the largest glacier of the Alps. Wonderful is going up to the Eggishorn for the sunrise tour in July/August. The Aletsch Glacier is going to glow in a beautiful golden color. The old town of Sion is very stunning: Italian vibes in the Canton of Valais. Very much alive and apparently a foodie lab! Thus, do not miss to take your dinner there: Hérens beef, valaisans tomatoes and apricots are local specialities. Also visit the 2 castles of Sion. The Pierre Gianadda Foundation is considered to be one of Switzerland's top museums. The museum hosts a brilliant collection of paintings (Cézanne, Picasso and Mathys), old cars and roman artifacts. A trip up to the Mont-Fort near the village of Verbier is another highlight of Valais / Wallis. The 360° panorama up there allows you to see the Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn... on your way down, better take the zip line: It's going to be very thrilling! At Martigny, you may also visit the Barryland museum. It's a foundation that takes care of the Barry dog breed; one of Switzerland's national animals. It's a very family friendly attraction. Saas-Fee is a beautiful village to visit, surely because of it's many glaciers. The Metro Alpin up to the Mittelallalin and the ice pavilion are a highlight. Take a break at the baths of Leukerbad. This is premium wellness up in the Swiss Alps! Consider bathing at the Hotels of the Thermal bath of Leukerbad village. Really nice is also the Grande Dixence dam, the largest dam of Switzerland. Very thrilling is the zipline just along the dam! The underground Lake at Saint-Léonard is considered being one of Switzerland's most unique natural treasures. It's a great attraction to visit during rainy weather. The dam at Emosson with the world's steepest funicular and the panoramic train is another hidden gem attraction of Valais. Visit it and enjoy a brilliant vista over Mont-Blanc! Relax at the Lake of Champex-Lac, one of the best lakes one could visit in Switzerland. Pure nature and few people. The Bisse de Clavau is a serene hiking trail in the middle of the vineyards above Sion. From there you may enjoy a great view over the Rhone valley and the Swiss Alps. The Stockalper palace of Brig is a place for people who love to visit medieval heritage places. It's a castle with beautiful arcardes. Not the glacier express but the steam railway train over the Furkapass are considered the most stunning trainline one can take in the canton of Valais / Wallis. Top 5 SKI RESORTS in SWITZERLAND - [Detailed Guide]
Switzerland is one of the best destinations for Winter sports, especially for skiing! The Swiss Alps are full of fantastic ski resorts. Among the many, I present you Top 5 that I consider belonging to the best ski resorts of Switzerland.
The SILVRETTA ARENA at Samnaun is one that is often overlooked, while you actually should eye at it as it is one of the very best in all of Switzerland! The Silvretta Arena is a binational ski resort that allows you to switch between Switzerland and Austria. It’s very snow sure, as most of the slopes are above 2000 meters! You will have many slopes and lifts to choose, thus, much to explore. It’s best to stay here for at least 3-5 days! Samnaun is by the way easier to be reached from the Austrian side. Explore the village of Samnaun too! It’s a beautiful Swiss Winter village and also great for shopping, since it’s entirely duty-free.
The ALETSCH ARENA is located in the canton of Valais and offers you fantastic panoramas over the Swiss Alps, including the Aletsch Glacier and the iconic Matterhorn. There are three stations: Fiescheralp, Bettmeralp and Riederalp. The resort is very sunny but at the same time snow sure! Great slopes are from the Bettmerhorn down to Bettmeralp or then at Schönbiel, Riederfurka or Flesch. Bettmeralp is one of the most beautiful Winter villages of Switzerland, do walk around, especially during sunset and dusk! The best way to arrive there is by train; it stops directly at the cabin station down in Betten. It is recommended to stay at the Aletsch Arena for at least 3 days.
The PORTES DU SOLEIL is at where you can travel on ski! It’s so large that you would need more than 10 days to explore all of it. The major station on the Swiss side is at Les Crosets, at where you have numerous lifts and slopes to try out. Very nice is the Grand tour starting from Morgins heading to Champoussin, Les Crosets, Avoriaz, Châtel and then again reaching back at Morgins. Try out the probably steepest slope in the entire world: The Swiss wall. It has an incline of over 90%! Due to the incredibly large size of this ski resort it is recommended to stay here for around 5 to 7 days.
FLUMSERBERG is the perfect ski resort for one-day trips. It is easily reached by car or train from most of the regions of Switzerland. The resort is quite small but offers you many slopes. Very nice are the pine tree forest back to Tannenboden, the slope down from the Leist to Panüöl and the witch forest “Häxäwäldli”. The main peak of Flumserberg is the Maschgenkamm from where you can access most of the other parts of the resort. The perfect length of stay is 2 days; stay overnight at Tannenboden and enjoy a marvellous sunrise!
SAAS-FEE/SAASTAL is the most snow sure ski resort due to its high elevation and limited exposure. Most of the upper parts are up on the glacier, which is a very unique experience. The best peaks to visit are the Mittelallalin and Hohsaas. The major asset of this ski resort are the very long slopes; it will take you 20-30 minutes to ski down from the Mittelallalin to the village of Saas-Fee. The sunniest site of this ski resort is at Saas-Grund. Very underrated but actually perfect for skiing and less busy! The village of Saas-Fee is also suitable for non-skiers and families to visit; especially since it is car-free. In that case, consider going up for lunch at the Mittelallalin at the revolving restaurant and then explore the ice pavilion inside the glacier.

I proudly present you the Top 10 most beautiful waterfalls of Switzerland: As a landlocked country, there may be no dreamy beaches in Switzerland, but with Alps, this country hosts some of the most beautiful landscapes. Switzerland is often considered the reservoir of Europe, as there are many glaciers from which the rivers originate. Each of them gets fed with water from the many creeks present in the Swiss Alps. The water sometimes has to quite find its way to reach the next larger river, it needs to pass gorges, forests or drops from the rocks down into the valleys. Where can you find the many waterfalls of Switzerland? There are countless of them, plenty in the wonderful Bernese Oberland (Berner Oberland), around lake Brienz, in the many valleys, such as in the Simmental and of course in the Lauterbrunnen valley. In only that valley, there are 72 waterfalls! Among these 72 waterfalls you may find the Staubbach Falls of Lauterbrunnen, which are considered an Instagram wonder of Switzerland. They are one of the most photographed subjects. But there are 71 more waterfalls in the Lauterbrunnen valley to explore: Mürrenbachfalls, Mattenbachfalls, Trümmelbachfalls and many more! Fascinating! Other wonderful waterfalls are scattered all around Switzerland, central Switzerland, canton Uri, Ticino and northern Switzerland, where the world famous Rheinfall (Rhinefalls) are located. Martigny (German: Martinach, Latin: Octodurum) is the capital of the district of Martigny in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. It lies at an elevation of 471 meters (1,545 ft), and its population is approximately 15000 inhabitants (Martignerains or Octoduriens). It is a junction of roads joining Italy, France and Switzerland. One road links it over the Great St. Bernard Pass to Aosta (Italy), and the other over the col de la Forclaz to Chamonix (France). In winter, Martigny is known for its numerous nearby Alp ski resorts such as Verbier.

Sion (German: Sitten) is a city in the canton of Valais in Switzerland.
From Zurich you can take the train to Bern and Visp. Travel time is 2 hours and 30 minutes.
The Population is about 35.000. 82 % of the people speak French as their first language.
Sion is situated in a dry and suny area of Switzerland.
Landmarks of the city are the two hills with the Valère Basilica and Tourbillon Castle.
The Town hall (Hôtel de ville) is at 12 Rue du Grand Pont in the old town. Other sights you can see in the video are Notre dame du Glarier and Tour de Sorciers (Sorcerers‘ Tower).
