A walk through Fribourg Switzerland
Join us for a trip to the Middle Ages as we wander the streets of Fribourg.
It's a town that has a certain Gothic vibe with quaint houses, hills upon hills, historic bridges and mountains beyond sight.
We visited the St. Nicholas Cathedral which is one of Europe's great Gothic churches and it's over 700 years old!

Tourism video. In less than an hour's drive from the Pre-Alps, you'll come across the Mediterranean mildness of the Medieval cities of Murten and Estavayer-le-Lac. Long before the 2002 Swiss National Fair, even at the time of the Celts and Romans, the Three-Lakes Region was a favourite place to holiday. The Papiliorama in Kerzers and the Grande Cariçaie on the southern side of Lake Neuchâtel are truly worth your while.

Canton of Bern
It is one of the 26 cantons forming the Swiss Confederation. It is composed of ten districts and its capital city is Bern. The bear is the heraldic symbol of the canton, displayed on a red-yellow background. Bern is the second-largest canton by both surface area and population. Jaun
It (French: Bellegarde) is a municipality in the district of Gruyère in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. It is the only German-speaking municipality in Gruyère.
Jaun Pass
(German: Jaunpass, French: col de Bellegarde) is a high mountain pass (el. 1509 m.) in the Swiss Alps linking Charmey and Jaun in the canton of Fribourg with Reidenbach (part of the municipality of Boltigen) in the canton of Bern. The pass itself is located within the canton of Berne. The pass road was completed in 1878. The Jaunpass connects the Gruyère region in Fribourg with the Simmental in the Bernese Oberland. It is located between the towns of Broc and Reidenbach (municipality of Boltigen) and leads through Jaun, the only German-speaking municipality in the Gruyère region. The top of the pass is at 1509 m in the municipality of Boltigen.

It is a former municipality in the district of Gruyère in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. On 1 January 2014 the former municipalities of Charmey and Cerniat merged into the new municipality of Val-de-Charmey.

Continuing our climbing journey, we decided to head to Switzerland to attend the IFSC Climbing World Cup held in Bern!
A few days earlier, we made a stop in Fribourg and discovered this incredible bridge equipped with climbing holds.
It's the Pérolles Bridge, linking Fribourg to Marly.
You can climb some really nice routes there, ranging from 5a up to 8b for the most challenging ones.
The arch provides excellent overhanging climbing. It's a mix of indoor climbing with its artificial holds but also outdoor climbing due to its exposure and visual spectacle, especially under the beautiful afternoon sun!
It cost us around 10 euros per person for a single session, and it was truly worth it.

Today's drive starts from Ouchy in the city of Lausanne bringing us along the lake road to the town of Vevey while going through the Lavaux region.

This aerial view over Fribourg takes you over the Chapelle de la Lorette which was build in 1647. Built on a hill opposite to the city of Fribourg it offers a magnificient view of the city and its surroundings. The short clip also shows you the the old town of Fribourg with the Roman catholic Cathedral of Saint Nicolas built between 1283-1490. The city of Fribourg is also the capital of the canton of Fribourg, Switzerland. The city itself was founded by Berthold the IV, Duke of Zähringen, in 1153. Through the lower city flows the river Saane, also known as La Sarine. The population of Fribourg (city also known by its German name Freiburg im Üechtland) speaks French or/and German.
