The Ruhr Park is a shopping center in Bochum . It is one of the largest in Germany. As the Ruhr-Park on November 14, 1964 in the quarter Harpen was opened, it was after the Main-Taunus-Zentrum in Sulzbach the second shopping center in Germany and a novelty for the young Federal Republic.
At the beginning, the shopping center had 24,000 m² of rental space, which was partly available for large department stores and partly for smaller specialist shops. The Ruhr-Park shopping center on the approx. 254,000 m² large property in Bochum with meanwhile 125,000 m² rental space (of which 71,500 m² sales area) and an estimated goods turnover in 2013 of around 243 million euros is one of the largest shopping centers in Germany . Around 2,500 employees work in the approximately 140 shops; 4,800 free parking spaces are available to customers.
The founder of the Ruhr-Park shopping center was the investor Edward J. Roberts, who sold the center to Westdeutsche ImmobilienBank in 1978 . Since 1 October 2010, the Perella Weinberg Real Estate Fund is the owner of the Ruhr Park, which is managed by Unibail-Rodamco Germany .
The Ruhr Park is located outside the city center and has plenty of parking space. At the time of the construction of the Ruhr Park, the first pedestrian zones in the surrounding inner cities were created, which made the city area more attractive, but also more difficult to access. All this sparked fears in the retail sector, which feared lost sales through the greenfield mall at its other sites. Nevertheless, this concept is still groundbreaking for many other shopping centers in Germany.
The restaurant area Via Bartolo was opened in October 2001. 13 gastronomy concepts are arranged in a ring around a central square - with dining tables and seating groups (about 280 seats) - and are supposed to invite to a gastronomic world tour, offering dishes from different countries. The dining area is loosened up by a seasonal decoration with plants and sculptures.
After a reconstruction from 2011 to 2015, the Ruhr-Park was reopened on 4 November 2015, including the new Südmall, and now has a leasable area of 115,000 m². With the nearby motorways A 40 and A 43 , the shopping center is well connected to the road network, which contributed, for example, to the settlement of the cinema complex UCI . The PT connectors but is carried out by seven bus lines with three to the Ruhr Park around distributed stops. Of these, however, only two lines go to Bochum city center, which also perform on the way to the Ruhr Park important development functions of residential areas. The landmark of the Ruhr Park is the yellow tent, built in 1985 and supported by a 42-meter-high tubular steel mast. In 2012, the yellow tent was replaced by a white one as part of the modernization of the Ruhr Park. On the northern edge is a decorated with spheres pylon (Mast 69, Annex 2610) of the Amprion .

The town of Werden, which is now a suburb of Essen, is exceptional because very few old buildings survived anywhere else in the heavily industrialised (and bombed) Ruhr area but, compared to other ‘old towns’, it is nothing special.
Small but definitely worth seeing. Small pedestrian street , no traffic jams, cozy restaurants and bakeries. Place where you can relax and enjoy. Cozy little town at the Ruhr. Nice local center with many small shops, boutiques and restauarnts. Enjoy the lively scenary during saturday morning at the farmers market between the Basilika and Folkwang University.
The atmosphere is delightfully romantic, the architecture outstandingly impressive, feel yourself transported into another century. There are some nice half-timbered houses.

As Adnan and Farhad explained to me, unfortunately during the Soviet period, Azerbaijan wasn’t able to develop their street food culture that much and creativity was omitted. When Azerbaijan broke away from the Soviet Union, it was the Turkish who influenced much of the Azerbaijani street food culture. So you will definitely find some similarities, and yet some differences.
We started this extreme street food tour in Baku by going to one of the oldest Soviet style cafes for a quick piroshky on the go. It was pretty oily, but pretty tasty especially when drenched in tomato sauce.
Amin Kabab - Next stop on this food tour, we went to Amin Kabab, a small neighborhood kebab grill for a quick Lyulya kebab, or chopped meat kebab.
Eskulap Restoran - If you’re looking for one of the best local Azerbaijan kebab meat restaurants in Baku, this is the spot. Adnan explained it’s a legendary restaurant he’s been coming to since he was a kid. They specialize in all things lamb, and along with a variety of stews and braised dishes, one of their specialties is the Khan Kebab, lamb liver wrapped in caul fat and grilled. I also loved the lamb braised in sour plums and barberries and the insane dessert kebab of ground walnuts and lamb fat. What a meal!
To continue this extreme street food tour in Baku we headed to a lamb street where lambs hang on the street, you choose your cut from nose to tail. The organs and jaws are some of the most popular items here. We tried lamb jaws and testicles - both of which were pretty tasty.
Köz Halil Usta - Finally to complete this food tour, we had to eat at Köz Halil Usta for tantuni, a Turkish in origin food, but one of the most popular street foods in Azerbaijan. They fry up beef slices with spices and sunflower oil and wrap into your choice of bread or lavash. It’s something you could watch all day being made and it’s so incredibly addictive.
And that wraps up Azerbaijani food tour in Baku. It’s an incredible city and the lamb and meats are spectacular!

In this video I will take you on a tour through Landscape Park Duisburg Nord on a sunny winter day in 2020. Landschaftspark Nord in Duisburg(Western Germany) is an abandoned coal and steel production site that is now functioning as a memorial park. This beautiful memorial park in Western Germany (Duisburg), called Landschaftspark Nord (Landscape Park Duisburg Nord), is divided into different areas, whose borders were carefully developed by looking at existing conditions of the plant. Landschaftspark at Duisburg Nord had a clear intention of using the site to develop its program. Within this context, each programmatic element is given a specific identity that illustrates time, while showing change in different ways. Each visitor is allowed to experience the park in their own way and create their own story. I am going up till the top of one plant and slowing down several times to show you even finer aspects. St. Paul's Bay, Malta is a local council consisting of Bugibba, Qawra and St. Paul's Bay residential areas. Full of shops, restaurants, hotels and couple of local seafood stores. It is also the most populated town in Malta, and the town with most of the construction works after St. Julian's and Sliema.

Duisburg is a city in western Germany, at the junction of the Rhine and Ruhr rivers. It's known for its large harbor and the Innenhafen (Inner Harbour), a waterfront dining and nightlife district. The Museum Küppersmühle has a collection of modern German art, and the Lehmbruck Museum displays modern sculpture. The site of an old ironworks, Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord is now a park with trails and a ropes course.
Duisburg, about 25km west of Essen, is home to Europe’s largest inland port, the immensity of which is best appreciated on a boat tour. Embarkation is at the Schwanentor, which is also the gateway to the Innenhafen Duisburg (inner harbour), an urban quarter with a mix of modern and restored buildings infused with museums, restaurants, bars, clubs and attractions set up in the old storage silos.
Duisburg is a German city in the western part of the Ruhr area (Ruhrgebiet) in North Rhine-Westphalia. It is a metropolitan borough with a population of just under 500,000. With the world's biggest inland harbour and its proximity to Düsseldorf International Airport, Duisburg has become an important venue for commerce and steel production. Contemporary Duisburg is a result of numerous incorporations of surrounding towns and smaller cities. It is the twelfth-largest city in Germany and the fifth-largest city in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The core city was founded in the 5th century AD as a marketplace on the Westphalian Hellweg trade route, a ford on the river Rhine and the border between the Frankish Empire and the Duchy of Saxons. Around 740 it became one of several royal courts of Francia, it was first mentioned in a chronicle dated 883 AD as one of the Rhenish places conquered by Normans. 16th-century cartographer Gerardus Mercator, creator of seminal globes and atlases as well as the Mercator projection still used in modern world maps, lived, worked and taught in Duisburg for forty years.
Since the late 19th century, the city is renowned for its steel industry, being Central Europe's leading site in this sector. All seven blast furnaces in the Ruhr are now located in Duisburg, producing half of the pig iron and a third of the crude steel made in Germany. Coal-mining, on the other hand, has never played the big role it had in other places on the Ruhr. As Germany's heavy industries have lost importance since the mid-20th century (due to the rise of plastics and relocation of production to low-wage countries), Duisburg had to go through a major structural transformation, losing tens of thousands of jobs in the steel mills while creating new ones in the services and logistics sectors.
Duisburg-Ruhrort, on the confluence of rivers Ruhr and Rhine, has long been and still is Europe's biggest inland harbour. It has successfully kept up with the times, replacing its facilities for break bulk and dry bulk cargo in favour of container shipping and modern logistics infrastructure as well as minimising the average laytime of ships from more than a day to only a few hours. Duisburg also aims to be the terminal of a New Silk Road, offering direct freight train links from China. The University of Duisburg-Essen, with 42,000 students, ranks among the 10 largest German universities.
