The Bergisches Land is a low mountain range in North Rhine-Westphalia, close to Cologne. It is part of the Rhenish Slate Mountains and shaped by forests, verdant meadows and valleys.

The Swabian Alb is a plateau in the south of Germany - it is the highest part of the foothills of the Jura Mountains, northern from Lake Constance. The Häußlers live in Schwörzkirch, a small village on the edge of the Swabian Alb overlooking the Valley. Lentils and Spätzle, the national dish, used to be a typical Friday meal in this predominantly Catholic region.
The Schwalm region lies in Germany’s Hessen, north of Frankfurt. The Erbe family live in the artist’s village Willingshausen and run a small pottery workshop. The local cuisine is hearty and down to earth; it is made up of what the soil offers for this was once a poor farming region.
The Harz is a low mountain range through which the German-German border used to run. The Thielecke family made a new start after the reunification between East and West and breed the Harz red highland cattle, and old cattle type with very tender meat. A regional culinary speciality is the Harz cheese, a low-fat yoghurt cheese with an intense aroma.
The Rhineland Palatinate lies between the Rhine and the “Pfalzer” Forest, on the south-eastern tip of North Rhine Westphalia. The many sunny days make for a mild climate – just the right conditions for the organic farmer Michael Groß. He not only cultivates 40 different types of vegetables but also lupines.

Saarland, Germany travel vlog! Small German towns, a Celtic village, and a massive stone ringwall!
After an amazing visit to Luxembourg City, I decided to head over the border for a short trip to small-town Germany. I've visited Germany a few times before but mostly big tourist spots. So I figured this would be a perfect chance to spend some time off the beaten path and see what I found. I'm so glad that I did! It was a super short trip but I got to spend some time in Saarland seeing a small German town (Otzenhausen), hiking in the forest, visiting a Celtic village, seeing a 2000-year-old stone ringwall, eating a doner kebab, and more! Check it out and see how I spent my nice, relaxing few days in Germany.

Germany: A visit to Miltenberg
Miltenberg is a town in Bavaria, Germany. It is the seat of the like-named district and has a population of over 9,000.
The old town lies on the Main’s left bank on the left knee of the Mainviereck (Main Square) between the Spessart and Odenwald ranges. Since the Main riverbed in the Miltenberg area is relatively near the foot of the Odenwald, only a narrow strip of usable land is left, little over 150 meters in width,[2]:79 which in past centuries was time and again flooded by the Main. The historic centre, which stands on this land, often sustained considerable damage in these floods. Only in the 21st century efficient flood control measures, most of all a wall, have significantly reduced the adverse effects of these floods.
Some interesting sights are: the historic town centre with the Schnatterloch, the historic market square which served as a location for some scenes of the film The Spessart Inn (1958). Nearby are the Hotel Zum Riesen (one of Germany’s oldest inns, if not the oldest) and the old town hall. Miltenberg still has a total of around 150 half-timbered houses. Mildenburg (the local castle). It was the seat of the Oberamtmann, the Archbishop's local administrator until 1803. The Mainz Gate (Mainzer Tor), the Würzburg Gate (Würzburger Tor).

Miltenberg - is a town in the Regierungsbezirk of Lower Franconia in Bavaria, Germany. It is the seat of the like-named district and has a population of over 9,000. Source :
The seat of a historic county in the old Electorate of Mainz, the town of Miltenberg is pressed against a bend in the River Main by the final eastern peaks of the Odenwald range.
The old town is 2.5 kilometres long but only a maximum 150 metres wide. And those slopes bank up to the south and bring a sense of spectacle to Miltenberg’s romantic alleys and squares.
The many half-timbered houses bear witness to Miltenberg’s historic wealth as a centre of commerce on the navigable Main River.
Some epoch-making figures have called in on Miltenberg, including two Holy Roman Emperors and Napoleon. What’s amazing is that the inn where they all stayed is still in business.

Make Büdingen a must see destination when traveling to Germany next
Around 700, the wooden church of Saint Remigius was built. Today, 1300 years later, Büdingen is an attractive family orientated medieval town complete with fortified walls, watch towers and town gates as well as a castle in which the original family is still in residence. Büdingen is one hour drive from Frankfurt. We visited in July and there were only a few tourists in town leaving us to freely roam and explore at will. Beautifully restored buildings with lots of colourful flower arrangements and trees about, many comfortable eating places to choose from, make this town a very enjoyable relaxing place to visit. In Büdingen every eating place is perfect.

Een mooie fietstocht door het Maindal met wat steilere hellingen over goede fietspaden en rustige binnenwegen welke praktisch vlak verloopt. Ter hoogte van Homburg op de hellingen omgeven door wijngaarden en een vakwerkslot. Het fietsen van deze, in totaal 57 km lange, fietstocht deden wij heen en weer. Fietsend door rivierdalen geeft dan een totaal wisselende indruk.

Im Sommer können Sie mit Familie und Freunden das Waldbad Triefenstein – Lengfurt besuchen, denn die großen Schwimmbecken sorgen für viel Spannung und Spaß. Sie können es sich aber auch auf der Liegefläche bequem machen und sich zusätzlich in der Sonne bräunen lassen und das wundervolle Wetter genießen.
Eine Bürgerinitiative aus Markt Triefenstein
Der Förderverein Triefenstein Pro Waldbad e.V. widmet sich seit April 2017 der ideellen und finanziellen Förderung des Freibads (Waldbad) in Triefenstein-Lengfurt. Nachdem das Bad kurz vor der Schließung stand, soll nun mit vereinten Kräften der Erhalt dauerhaft sichergestellt werden.
Waldbad
Am 19. Juli 1969 wurde die Schwimmhalle mit Kleinkinderplanschbecken eröffnet. Die Halle hatte einen Hubboden der bis zu 3 Meter Wassertiefe abzusenken war. 1978 begann der Bau des Freibades. Dieses hat ein Schwimmer- und ein Springerbecken. Außerdem ein Nichtschwimmerbecken und ein Kinderplanschbecken. Im Jahr 2000 kam ein Beachvolleyballfeld auf der Liegewiese dazu. In den folgenden Jahren kamen immer wieder kleinere Anbauten wie Grillmöglichkeiten und Rutschen hinzu.
Die hohen laufenden Kosten sorgten 2015 zunächst dafür, dass das Hallenbad im Sommer geschlossen blieb. Am 23. Dezember 2015 wurde es dann trotz vieler gesammelten Unterschriften geschlossen. 2017 stand ebenfalls die Schließung des Freibades wegen zu großer anstehender Sanierungskosten im Raum. Daraufhin hat sich der Förderverein Pro Waldbad gegründet. Dieser übernimmt seit der Freibadsaison 2017 den Betrieb des Freibades
