Welcome to YAKUTSK, (SIBERIA) - AKA the WORLD'S COLDEST CITY. More than 300,000 people live here, where winter temperatures (like right now) reach as low as -55 Celsius.
I went to Yakutsk a few weeks ago with my good friend Ammar from @YesTheory. The city is so remote that we had to take a 9-hour domestic flight from Moscow to get there.
As soon as we arrived in this cold winter wonderland, I couldn’t believe my eyes. Completely frozen trees, frozen pipelines, frozen cars… frozen everything!! But underneath the layers of jackets are extremely friendly faces and warm smiles. And that’s what I came here to learn about - humanity. Who are the Yakutian people? How do they survive these brutally cold winters?
This video takes you on a 4-day journey through the world’s coldest city - Yakutsk. I think you will be quite surprised to discover that Yakutsk is actually a normal city, just like anywhere else. It just happens to be extremely cold!

There are hundreds of thousands of cities and towns in the world. Some of them are better places to live in compared to others. Even though some cities are not safe or the best places to live, many people still live there. But what is with those cities that everybody wants to live in? What makes a city a liveable place?
Economist Intelligence Unit or EIR is an organization that ranks many cities every year by a set of factors trying to find what is the best city in the world to live in or what is the most liveable city in the world. They use factors grouped into 5 categories: Stability, Healthcare, Culture & Environment, Education, and Infrastructure. Each category participates in the total index by factor percentage making the total score between 0 and 100. Important: cost of living is not a factor of liveability.
You will see that some countries have more than one city of these 10 in the list and those could make those countries the best liveable countries in the world as well as the best countries to live in the world.
This list is also a list of the most developed cities in the world, the safest cities in the world, best cities to live in the world.
In 2022, they ranked 172 world cities and we prepare the list of the 10 most liveable cities in the world in 2022 for you. We also have the 3 best places to visit in each city if you decide to visit more in one of these fantastic places. Keep following us @DanCity channel.
