We visited Marbach am Neckar, located about 20km north of Stuttgart, about 30min by S-Bahn from Stuttgart central station.
This town is known as the birthplace of the German poet Johann Christoph Friedrich von Schiller. There are also many historical buildings and cute wooden houses that are typical of Germany, so there is a lot to see.
There is also a bike path, so if the weather is nice, cycling is a great way to visit :)

The city (Stadt) of Marbach am Neckar covers 18.06 square kilometers (6.97 sq mi) of the district of Ludwigsburg in a total of four separate exclaves. Marbach is, according to government urban planning, part of the Stuttgart Metropolitan Region. Neckar River is a 362-kilometre-long (225 mi) river in Germany, mainly flowing through the southwestern state of Baden-Württemberg, with a short section through Hesse. The Neckar is a major right tributary of the Rhine. Rising in the Black Forest near Villingen-Schwenningen in the Schwenninger Moos conservation area at a height of 706 m (2,316 ft) above sea level, it passes through Rottweil, Rottenburg am Neckar, Kilchberg, Tübingen, Wernau, Nürtingen, Plochingen, Esslingen, Stuttgart, Ludwigsburg, Marbach, Heilbronn and Heidelberg, before discharging into the Rhine at Mannheim, at 95 m (312 ft) above sea level.
From Plochingen to Stuttgart the Neckar valley is densely populated and industrialised, with several well-known companies, e.g. Daimler AG (the maker of Mercedes Benz cars) and Mahle GmbH being located there. Between Stuttgart and Lauffen the Neckar cuts a scenic, meandering, and in many places steep-sided, valley into fossiliferous Triassic limestones and Pleistocene travertine. Along the Neckar's valley in the Odenwald hills many castles can be found, including Hornberg Castle and Guttenberg Castle in Haßmersheim; the now-mothballed Obrigheim Nuclear Power Plant and the active Neckarwestheim Nuclear Power Plant are also located there. After passing Heidelberg, the Neckar discharges on average 145 m3/s (5,100 cu ft/s) of water into the Rhine, making the Neckar its 4th largest tributary, and the 10th largest river in Germany. From about 1100 Black Forest timber was rafted downstream as far as Holland, for use in shipyards.
The name Neckar might be derived from Nicarus and Neccarus from Celtic Nikros, meaning wild water or wild fellow. The grammatical gender of the name in German is masculine (Der Neckar). During the 19th century, traditional horse-drawn boats were replaced by steam-powered chain boats that used a 155 km (96 mi) long chain in the river to haul themselves upstream towing barges. After 1899 a railway made it possible to transport timber to the port of Heilbronn, limiting timber rafting to the lower part of the Neckar. Due to the construction of 11 locks, ships up to 1500 t could travel to Heilbronn in 1935.
By 1968 the last of 27 locks, at Deizisau, was completed, making the Neckar navigable for cargo ships about 200 kilometres (120 mi) upstream from Mannheim to the river port of Plochingen, at the confluence with the Fils, and where the Neckar bends, taking a northwesterly instead of a northeasterly course. Other important ports include Stuttgart and Heilbronn.

Marbach am. Neckar - Auf Friedrich Schillers Höhe
Friedrich Schiller - geboren am 10. November 1759 in Marbach am Neckar - ihm zu Ehren gibt es in seiner Geburtstadt Marbach am Neckar die sogenannte Schillerhöhe.
Die Schillerhöhe ist ein Park- und Museenareal unweit des Zentrums der sehenswerten Stadt Marbach am Neckar mit ihren heimeligen Gassen mit schnuckeligen Fachwerkshäusern.
Imposant ist das Denkmal des deutschen Dichters zentral im Park der Schillerhöhe. Umrahmt wird es duch das Deutsche Literaturarchiv, dem Schiller-Nationalmuseum und dem Literaturmuseum der Moderne.
Die Schillerhöhe ist nicht nur ein beliebtes Ausflugsziel von Touristen, alljährlich finden hier am 10. November - anlässlich Schillers Geburtstag - Feierlichkeiten ihm zu Ehren statt.
Die Schillerhöhe - aber auch die Stadt Marbach am Neckar ist auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert.

Couple words about me and the presentation.
Because of russian aggression I have been living in Marbach since March with my teenage daughters and mother who is retired.
I`m in love with this cozy and comfortable town which became our safe and friendly shelter. I`ve made a lot of friends here in Marbach including the host of house where we live now
I am a lawyer in Ukraine but because of war I lost my job, and here in Marbach I learn German on the integration language course, also improve my English and study online to have a possibility to work in Germany (not as a lawyer, but I have good communicative, creative, and administrative skills).
As a part of my studying on the Business Course of English by Bochum Hochschule I had to make a PowerPoint presentation about something no matter what the object is. And only thing for me what I was thinking about when I have got that task was Marbach which is became so close and valuable for me with all its nice people, beautiful nature, old architecture, and rich history.
As I am a fan of photography I made a lot of pictures around of Marbach which I have illustrated my presentation with.
And now I want to thank all local people for hospitality, kindness, support, and help given by them to Ukrainian refugees in this hard time.

Das Schiller-Nationalmuseum in Marbach
Das Schiller-Nationalmuseum ist neben dem Literaturmuseum der Moderne Teil der Literaturmuseen des Deutschen Literaturarchivs Marbach. Es wurde 1903 auf der Schillerhöhe in Marbach am Neckar als Schiller-Archiv und -Museum eröffnet. Es war seit 1895 als Gedenkstätte für den in Marbach geborenen Friedrich Schiller und andere Dichter aus Schwaben vorgesehen und wurde ab 1901 nach den Plänen der Stuttgarter Architekten Ludwig Eisenlohr und Carl Weigle erbaut. 1922 erhielt es den heutigen Namen.
1955 wurde im Schiller-Nationalmuseum das Deutsche Literaturarchiv gegründet, u. a. auch, um der exilierten deutschen Literatur zwischen 1933 und 1945 einen zentralen Ort der Erhaltung und Bewahrung zu geben. Seitdem erstreckt sich das Sammelgebiet des Archivs auf die gesamte deutsche Literatur von der Aufklärung bis zur unmittelbaren Gegenwart.
Das Schiller-Nationalmuseum bildet zusammen mit dem Deutschen Literaturarchiv die einheitliche Institution Deutsches Literaturarchiv Marbach.
Zum 250. Geburtstag von Friedrich Schiller wurde das Museum am 10. November 2009 von Bundespräsident Horst Köhler wiedereröffnet, das für mehr als sechs Millionen Euro saniert wurde. Im Mittelpunkt der neuen Dauerausstellung stehen Leben und Werk Schillers sowie die deutsche Literatur des 18. und 19. Jahrhunderts.
Die in der deutschen Museums- und Forschungslandschaft einzigartige Institution Schiller-Nationalmuseum und Deutsches Literaturarchiv wird zwar vom Bund und vom Land Baden-Württemberg wesentlich gefördert, jedoch getragen vom Bürgerverein Deutsche Schillergesellschaft e. V. Diese ging 1947 aus dem 1895 gegründeten Schwäbischen Schillerverein hervor, der es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht hatte, Lebenszeugnisse und Handschriften von Dichtern zu sammeln und auszustellen.
Museum und Archiv verfolgen gemeinsam das Ziel, Texte, Dokumente und Lebenszeugnisse der neueren deutschen Literatur zu sammeln, zu ordnen und für die Forschung bereitzustellen. Die Ergebnisse dieser Forschungs- und Erschließungsarbeiten werden im Museum durch Ausstellungen und Kataloge, im Archiv durch wissenschaftliche Veröffentlichungen und Lese- und Studienausgaben etc. zugänglich gemacht. Im Mittelpunkt stehen die Nachlässe bedeutender Schriftsteller und Gelehrter sowie die Archive von Institutionen und Unternehmen, darunter als wichtigstes Verlagsarchiv des 19. Jahrhunderts das der Cotta’schen Verlagsbuchhandlung.

It is even more beautiful in Summer, unfortunately some renovation is going on there. Plus the view from Schiller Museum is not that great due to greenery.

Marbach am Neckar ist eine Stadt etwa 20 Kilometer nördlich von Stuttgart. Sie gehört zum Landkreis Ludwigsburg. Marbach ist bekannt als Geburtsstadt Friedrich Schillers; die Stadt ist Sitz des Schiller-Nationalmuseums, des Deutschen Literaturarchivs und des Literaturmuseums der Moderne. Marbach liegt im Naturraum Neckarbecken am Ostufer einer Schleife des Neckars, dessen Prallhang durch zwei tiefe Einschnitte unterbrochen wird. Der nördliche der beiden Einschnitte wird vom heute weitgehend verdolten Strenzelbach, der südliche vom Eichgraben durchflossen. Die Marbacher Altstadt liegt auf dem Südhang des Strenzelbachtals, etwa 30 Meter über dem Neckar thronend, während sich die neueren Wohn- und Gewerbegebiete auf die weiter nordöstlich, östlich und südlich gelegenen Hänge verteilen. Noch weiter südlich, durch den Einschnitt des Eichgrabens etwas abgeschieden, liegt das Wohngebiet Hörnle mit etwa 1600 Einwohnern. Die vom Strenzelbach gebildete Furche kürzt eine Schleife der Murr ab, die knapp nördlich der Stadt in den Neckar mündet, und bildet eine für Marbach und Umgebung wichtige Verkehrsachse. Eine unbewohnte Exklave im Hardtwald beim Ortsteil Rielingshausen wird dem Naturraum Schwäbisch-Fränkische Waldberge zugerechnet.
