La Maddalena is the name of the principal island of an archipelago off the north-eastern tip of Sardinia. The archipelago is also known as La Maddalena, and consists of over sixty islands, islets and rocks. In the past the islands have been important strategic naval and military bases; now they are an attractive and fairly low-key holiday destination. The most famous attractions are the beautiful unspoiled beaches, the blue seas and the final home of Italian hero Giuseppe Garibaldi, on the island of Caprera.
The Maddalena archipelago lies off the north-eastern corner of Sardinia, close to the Costa Smeralda. The cluster of rocky islands lies in famously beautiful waters, clear and shimmering with a range of blue and turquoise hues. There are many fine sand beaches, some of them romantically isolated, and the islands are popular for boating, swimming and sunbathing holidays. The scenery here is memorable; a striking land and seascape where granite outcrops enclose patches of turquoise sea as blue as the mantle of the Madonna. Weathered by wind and sea, the granite has formed itself into bizarre shapes, while currents and geology have formed the islands' famous beaches, each with a different sand texture and colour.
The islands are a summer destination, and most tourist services and accommodation close down between October and May. The shoulder seasons - May, early June and September-early October can be very pleasant times for visiting the islands, with fine weather and emptier beaches, but buses and boat trips will run less frequently than during the busy July-August Italian holiday period. La Maddalena is quite a large island with several very appealing sandy beaches. These all lie outside the town, but are easy to reach thanks to a panoramic circular bus service.
More isolated beaches on the other islands can be reached by boat - if you are lucky enough, your own. Gommoni (rubber dinghies with motors) can be hired along the waterfront in La Maddalena; it is also possible to hire a small boat with a skipper.
Organised boat trips depart every day (sometimes less often outside peak season) from the waterfront in La Maddalena. Advertising boards and sales-people advertise the excursions, though the offering and price is basically the same. Boats leave in the morning, cruise through the islands stopping at two or three beaches for long bathing/exploring breaks, and lunch (usually seafood pasta) is provided on board. This is a great way to see the island group, atmospheric uninhabited islands and some beautiful isolated beaches - although you will be sharing them with your fellow passengers and those of other boats.
Further south on Caprera, at a small settlement called Stagnali, is a new complex of minor museums, likely to be further developed in the future. Housed in old military barracks, and reachable by the Caprera bus, the museums at Stagnali are worth a visit if you are interested in geology, want to know the islands better, or simply want to take a look at this out-of-the-way spot. There is a Museo Geo-Mineralogico-Naturalistico which contains mineral specimens and other curiosities including a display of sand samples from many of the archipelago's beaches.
On La Maddalena, two lovely beaches alongside bus stops are Spalmatore and Monte Rena. Spalmatore, with a seasonal cafe-restaurant-disco and a kiosk bar alongside (both closed when we visited in late September) is an attractive curve of sand enclosed in a bay, sloping very slowly into clear water. The headland to the north, easily reachable on foot, is an interesting spot to explore with footpaths, a ruin and some of the islands' characteristic weathered rock formations. A less-visited yellow sand beach can be reached down a steep path below the headland. Monte Rena, on the north coast of La Maddalena, has two attractive sandy beaches separated by a rocky spur.

Spiaggia di Geremeas a Quartu Sant'Elena ~ 7 Agosto 2021 | Sardegna
Esploriamo l'incantevole spiaggia di Geremeas che, nel lato più a nord-ovest, a seconda del tratto, prende il nome di Kal'e Moru o Kala e Moru e spiaggia di Marongiu. Siamo nella costa sud orientale della Sardegna, ad appena 30 minuti da Cagliari, dove lungo la strada panoramica che porta a Villasimius c’è una lunga serie di luoghi incantevoli, tutti da scoprire.
Una stupenda baia lunga tre chilometri nella parte orientale del golfo degli Angeli, caratterizzata da tre spiagge di sabbia bianca, contornate da promontori coperti di macchia mediterranea, e da un mare dalle infinite tonalità azzurre. Geremeas è una località turistica del sud Sardegna, appartenente ai comuni di Quartu Sant’Elena e di Maracalagonis, centri da cui dista poco più di venti chilometri. Il limite tra i due territori è il fiume omonimo, riu Geremeas, che durante l’inverno aumenta notevolmente la portata sfociando a mare, d’estate si riduce creando a ridosso del litorale, un piccolo stagno.
La prima spiaggia è Kala ‘e Moru (approdo del saraceno), nel territorio di Quartu: un arenile di piccolissimi granelli dorati lambito da mare limpido dai colori cangianti e dal fondale sabbioso. Nella collina sopra la spiaggia sorge un ampio villaggio turistico, che il promontorio Bruncu de su monte Moru separa dalla magnifica cala di Mari Pintau. Più a est incontrerai le altre due spiagge di Geremeas, divise tra loro dal fiume: Marongiu con sabbia chiara e sottile e Baccu Mandara, nel territorio di Maracalagonis, con sabbia color oro, morbida e a grana leggermente più grossa, scoscesa in riva. Si immerge in un mare cristallino tra il verde e il turchese, il cui fondale raggiunge è subito profondo. Dietro spiccano dune contornate di verde. Proseguendo nella strada litoranea incontrerai un’altra famosa località di Maracalagonis, Torre delle Stelle.
Le spiagge di Geremeas sono accessibili a diversamente abili, dotate di ampio parcheggio e servizi: noleggio attrezzatura balneare e natanti, punti ristoro e strutture ricettive. Quando soffia il maestrale la baia diventa meta di kite e wind surfisti. Alla sera ti godrai comodamente splendidi tramonti con il sole che lentamente, in lontananza, si ‘nasconde’ dietro Cagliari. Nel vicino entroterra, abbinerai mare a natura e archeologia: troverai interessanti siti archeologici e il parco dei Sette Fratelli.

La spiaggia di Genn'e Mari (porta verso il mare) si trova nella località di Torre delle Stelle e ricade parte nel comune di Maracalagonis e parte in quello di Sinnai. L'arenile di sabbia bianca e di media grossezza è bagnato da acque limpide.La Spiaggia di Genn'e Mari è una delle due spiagge che circondano il pittoresco promontorio di Cagliari e Villasimius. È una spiaggia lunga cinquecento metri situata ad est di Torre delle Stelle, sulla costa meridionale della Sardegna. Scenico e benedetto dall'acqua blu turchese, offre la baia perfetta in cui godersi una vacanza. La spiaggia è ricoperta di sabbia bianca chiara, dorata e a grana fine che brilla sotto il sole. Ciò è particolarmente impressionante durante la stagione primaverile, mentre una vibrante tonalità verde smeraldo della vegetazione vicina riflette la bellezza della regione. Fungo di Roccia di Codoleddu a Maracalagonis ~ 27 Novembre 2022 | Sardegna
Percorriamo il sentiero che nell'altopiano di Codoleddu, a circa 700 metri di altezza, conduce ad un particolarissimo fungo di granito scolpito da madre natura, da dove si può ammirare un panorama mozzafiato.
A sud-ovest possiamo ammirare l'incantevole Golfo degli Angeli di Cagliari, mentre a est possiamo osservare la catena dei Sette Fratelli.
Procedemo poi lungo la strada oltre i ruderi delle case Palincioni, fino ad arrivare al panoramicissimo e accogliente rifugio di Coduleddu, dove faremmo una breve sosta.
Se capitate al rifugio vi ricordo di rispettarlo come se fosse casa vostra; se vi và firmate il diario, scrivete delle frasi che vi vengono in mente e se potete lasciate qualcosa per quelli che verranno dopo di voi!

La spiaggia Torre delle Stelle o Genn’e Mari si trova alla base meridionale dell’insediamento turistico di Torre delle Stelle, cui appartiene anche la successiva spiaggia di Cannesisa. Questo insediamento è costruito sul promontorio di Punta Fenogu che è sovrastato da una bella torre di avvistamento spagnola, e turba in parte la bellezza del paesaggio.
