Dalaguete is a first class municipality in the province of Cebu, Philippines. The town Dalaguete is popularly known as the vegetable basket of Cebu. The mountain barangays are cold and Mantalongon is considered the Little Baguio of Cebu. Crops and fresh vegetables are distributed in several towns of Cebu. This place is also well-known for it's beautiful mountains with breath taking view that's why many tourist got interest to visit this place. One of the most popular attraction here is the Osmena Peak but i will visit that next time. Here's the list of tourist attarction that i have visited last 2017:

2. Kandungaw Cave - with tour guide
3. Casino Peak - with tour guide
4. Maloray Rice Terraces
5. Strawberry Farm
6. Eagle's Cave - with tour guide

How to get there:
You can take a ceres bus from south bus terminal ask the driver to drop you off to Dalaguete proper. Then once you arrive there, there's plenty of motorbike or habal- habal that you can ride to take you to your destination. In my case, i made a good negotiation with one motorbike driver it's like all in one package he was our driver and tour guide at the same time so it was very convenient for us. I just gave the driver an extra tip and we treat him for free lunch as well.

Overall, i had a wonderful time in Dalaguete. I highly recommend you guys to visit the place especially for those who are nature love, adventure seeker and those love hiking and trekking.
You should put on your top list the Kandungaw peak, the view was so amazing, spectacular view and beautiful scenery of nature, it was so refreshing i you could breath fresh air once your on top it feels like heaven...Please enjoy watching!

????[HD #CEBU ????????] ▶︎ DALAGUETE | #Philippines | FEB2023 Walking Tour

Dalaguete, formally the Municipality of Dalaguete, is a first-class municipality in the Philippine province of Cebu. The population is 74,596 people, according to the 2020 census.

Dalaguete is named after the dalakit (Ficus benjamina) tree. They revere this tree because they believe it houses diwatas, spirits that can bring sickness or luck. The interconnecting roots generate vast caverns when completely grown.

These trees were important landmarks before the Spaniards arrived. Under the shade, people held celebrations, contests, trading meetings, and other communal events. They sell their commodities and trade with local roving traders bringing Chinese and Asian goods from Cebu in dalaket-shaded markets.

The location of the church or the poblacion would have been a community gathering place for the natives. It was also the home of a massive dalakit tree, which provided shade and shelter while people went about their business. Pre-Hispanic Dalaguete has been called dalakit for generations. The Spanish government built the church and an encomienda because of its accessibility and repute as a community gathering place. This common place, and this tree, sparked the idea for a larger community that would later be known as Dalaguete.

Additional Facts:
Located 84 kilometres (52 mi) south of Cebu City, Dalaguete is bordered to the north by the town of Argao, to the west are the towns of Badian and Alegria, to the east is the Cebu Strait, and to the south is the town of Alcoy.
Dalaguete offers one of the trails to Cebu's highest mountain, the Osmeña Peak.

KANDUNGAW PEAK | Second Highest Mountain Peak in CEBU, Philippines

#hiking #cebuphilippines #kandungawpeak

Kandungaw Peak
Location: Maloray, Dalaguete, Cebu, Philippines

HOW TO GET THERE?
BY BUS: Catch the local bus to Mantalongon, Dalaguete from Cebu City which takes about 3 hours of travel. Alight at Mantalongon Market and look for a habal-habal that can take you to Maloray. Upon arrival to Brgy. Maloray, ask around for directions going to the peak.

BY CAR: Navigate with Waze or Google Maps, and search for “Kandungaw Peak” in Dalaguete. Limited parking space is available.
“Dungaw”, where the name of the peak was derived, actually means “to look down” which refers to the panoramic view at the top that could clearly see everything below it. The peak was crucial to occupants of the mountain during the Japanese regime as it provided a vantage point for them to spot if the Japanese were making a move below.

OSMENA PEAK | HIGHEST POINT CEBU, PHILIPPINES.

Standing tall at Cebu’s highest point - Osmeña Peak. #osmeñapeak #sugbo #cebu

⛰️Based on the web, it stands a little over 1000 meters above sea level. It is located in Mantalongon (Municipality of Dalaguete) and it is approximately 3 hours away from Cebu City. Barangay Mantalongon is also known as The Vegetable Basket of Cebu, so expect a lot of vegetable plantations along the way.

⛰️Osmeña Peak is one of the best options to start your climbing adventure. The climb is just easy and the cold weather makes it bearable. Going on a weekday hike is a good idea to avoid long queues and waiting for your photo op at the peak.

How to get there:

From Cebu South Terminal, ride a bus bound for Oslob or Bato. Travel time is 3 hours. Tell the bus driver to drop you off at Dalaguete junction.

Upon arrival in Dalaguete, you can hire a motorcycle (habal-habal) going to the jump off point for 150 PHp per person. Travel time is 30-45 minutes.

At the foot of the mountain, you have to register your name and the fee is 50 PHp.
To those who are planning to stay overnight, there’s a fee of 100 PHp per tent. Trekking is about 15-30 minutes.

10-minute Hiking to Osmeña Peak | Cebu's Highest Mountain Peak

#cebuphilippines #osmeñapeak #aerialfootage
Latest info as of September 2022
Entrance Fee: ₱50 person
Mandatory Tour Guide: ₱100
Overnight Camping near the peak: ₱100/tent

Technically Osmena peak is inside the municipality of Badian, but it is often considered to be part of Mantalongon, Dalaguete because it is more accessible via Mantalongon.

Osmena peak is part of the Mantalungon mountain range, which is unique from other mountain ranges in the Philippines because of its multiple jagged hills grouped together that overlook and stretch as far as the Badian shorelines. The highest of these hills is the Osmeña Peak named in honor of the famous Osmeña clan in Cebu.

The visual appearance of the Mantalungon range is almost similar in form to the Chocolate Hills of Bohol but the peaks of the ranges are thinner, sharper-pointed and rocky. Unlike the Chocolate Hills, the peaks of the Mantalungon ranges cluster quite near each other and give the impression of being formed from rocks that have survived through time.
Once you reach the Osmeña Peak, you get a 360-degree view of that includes the southwestern coastline of Cebu, and you even see the province of Negros Oriental. However, the peak area is fenced and under private ownership. A lot keeper collects at least 20 pesos from each climber that enters the area and there is a campsite a few meters down the peak. The campsite has a toilet and a bunkhouse available to the public for a fee.

Osmeña Peak and the Mantalungon range are accessible to hikers and mountaineers all year round but it is best to climb the peak in the first half of the year since the rainy season is from June to October. The peak and mountain ranges become wet and slippery during the rainy season

Mantalungon is famous as the summer capital of Cebu because it is 700 to 800 meters above sea level giving it a pleasant climate all year round. The high elevation has made the village an ideal place to grow flowers, vegetables and other high-value crops, which gives Mantalungon the reputation of being the vegetable basket of Cebu.

Held every year is the Utanon Festival, a celebration of dance and music as thanksgiving for the good harvest of Mantalungon. Utanon is the Cebuano word for vegetables. Many locals and foreign tourists visit the village during summer because of its cool climate.

Osmena Peak, the highest peak in Cebu. How to get there.

Osmena peak is approximately 1,072.6 meters above sea level making it one of the highest peaks on the island of Cebu. The peaks are unique from other mountain ranges in the Philippines because of its multiple jagged hills grouped together. We climbed here together with my wife, sisters, brother, sister-in-law, nieces, and nephew. The peak is located in Mantalongon, Dalaguete, Cebu. It is called the Summer Capital of Cebu, because of its cold temperature ranging between 18–25 °C (64–77 °F) in November to the middle of January. Due to its cold temperatures, the main livelihood of the people in Mantalongon is farming, growing different kinds of vegetables.
It is called the Vegetable Basket of Cebu because it is one of the major vegetable suppliers to the other towns in Cebu province. Every day, tons of vegetables are delivered to Carbon Market which is the biggest public market in Cebu City.

Exploring Osmeña Peak Cebu

Let's explore the highest peak in Cebu Philippines with a height of 1,013 masl located at Barangay Mantalongan, Dalaguete, Cebu. It is about 85 kilometers away from Cebu City.

How to get there?
From Cebu Airport, take a cab going to South Bus Terminal. From SBT, catch the bus bound for Oslob/Bato via Dalaguete. Drop off Dalaguete Junction. Travel time is approximately 3 hours to the drop-off point. Then ride a motorbike going to the foot of Osmeña peak. It takes 35 minutes. Hike for about 20 to 25 minutes up top. The trail is well-marked and easy to follow even without a tour guide.

At the top, you will enjoy the breathtaking view, the north and south are mostly Mantalongon mountain range and vegetable farms. To the west, you can see the Badian shoreline, Zaragoza Island & neighboring island of Negros. To the east is the side of Dalaguete & island province of Bohol.

MUST VISIT in Cebu Philippines OSMENA PEAK (2023)

Osmena Peak is a must visit spot in the south of Cebu island in the Philippines. It’s a popular day trip from Moalboal where most tourists stay. It’s the highest point on Cebu island at 1,013 meters above sea level. In this video we make the trip on our own with a scooter to visit it, which turned out to be a challenging journey. We almost didn’t make it. But we’re glad we did because the views are incredible! This is a must visit on Cebu island! After the hike to Osmena Peak we visited Cambais Falls, a secluded waterfall in the jungle popular for swimming and cliff jumping. This is one of our favourite day trips from Moalboal Cebu.

Mantalongon Public Market, Cebu, Philippines, Under MGCQ【4K】

Mantalongon, Barili Public Market during MGCQ (Farmers Market)- located at southwestern Cebu town (Barili). The town's barangay Mantalongon which spans about 7 hectares, hosts a sizeable livestock market. There are lots of farm goods abundantly laid at the market stalls and sidewalks sold at a very low price. Many growers in neighboring towns basically gather weekly to sell their produce and various livestock directly to their community in an outdoor setting. This makes the market very interesting especially for foreigners. You can see buyers and sellers negotiating the price. The famous bingka (Cebuano word for a rice cake) is also sold along the street.

Mactan Island is more than just the site of Cebu's best beach resorts. It also holds a piece of history, commemorated in a shrine, a BRONZE statue, dedicated to the island's first hero, chieftain Datu Lapu Lapu, where the city got its name, Lapu-Lapu City, which is another main city in Cebu. He was the first native to resist the Imperial Spanish colonization. He is best known for the Battle of Mactan that happened at dawn on April 27, 1521, where he & his soldiers defeated Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan.
Magellan's Cross is a Christian cross planted by Portuguese and Spanish explorers as ordered by Ferdinand Magellan upon arriving in Cebu 1521 & that started the teaching of Christianity to the Filipinos. This cross is housed in a chapel next to the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño on Magallanes Street, just in front of the city center of Cebu City. Basilica Minore del Santo Nino- is the oldest Roman Catholic church established in the Philippines. It was built on the same spot where the image of the Sto. Nino de Cebu, a statue depicting the Child Jesus, was found in 1565 by Spanish explorers led by Miguel Lopez de Legazpi. The name Santo Niño is two Spanish words which means in English translation as Holy Child.
Cebu’s Taoist Temple, a peaceful Taoist haven open for tourists and worshipers. It is located in Beverly Hills Subdivision of Cebu City. The Temple was built in 1972 by Cebu's substantial Chinese community.
TOP OF CEBU -One of the most romantic spots in Cebu, especially during dusk towards evening, you’ll see the city lights from afar. Tops is definitely an awesome park that has lived up to its name. On a good clear day, Tops will give you breathtaking panoramas of Cebu, the sea & its adjacent islands.
For all nature lovers, you can walk & trek to Casino Peak and Osmena Peak. Casino Peak is about 1-hour hike from Osmena Peak. This would be a wonderful walking exercise as well as enjoy the beauty of nature. Osmeña Peak of Cebu is in Mantalongon, Dalaguete. Standing at 1,013 meters above sea level, Osmeña Peak is the highest point on the entire island. The peak is part of the Mantalongon mountain range that stretches as far as the municipality of Badian. It is considered a twin to Bohol’s Chocolate Hills.
Kawasan falls are located in Badian, south of the island of Cebu, in Badian, Philippines. Kawasan Falls is a beautiful spot, where you can swim in clear turquoise water surrounded by lush green forests with the noise of powerful waterfalls rushing in the background. Kawasan Falls is a three-stage cascade of clear turquoise water from mountain springs of Mantalongon mountain range. I highly recommend going beyond the main waterfall and heading up as there are many more falls and pools to find. There is a walking path to the left-hand side of the main waterfall and it’s an easy walk up to the top. One of the most popular Cebu tourist spots or activities is Kawasan Canyoneering. The canyoneering adventure starts at the Canlaob river downstream going to Kawasan falls.
Sirao Flower Garden - This is situated in the Busay area which is a Mountainous region with a vast expanse of flowers including an area known as Mini Amsterdam. Going there is like experiencing the Netherlands, thus this tourist spot is commonly called, “The Little Amsterdam”.
Temple of Leah in Busay, draws dozens of visitors every day, thanks to its wondrous overlooking city views, and Greek-inspired architectural design. Temple of Leah is situated along the Cebu Transcentral highway. Teodorico Soriano Adarna built this temple in 2012. The temple is a symbol of his undying love for his wife of 53 years, Leah Villa Albino-Adarna. The temple has 24 chambers including a museum, an art gallery, and a library.
Fort San Pedro - is a military defense structure in Cebu, built by the Spanish under the command of Miguel López de Legazpi, the first governor of the Captaincy General of the Philippines.
Sinulog Festival is a traditional celebration in Cebu City held every third Sunday of January to honor the Santo Niño (Child Jesus). ... The word “Sinulog” means “graceful dance”, wherein it all started in 1980 with a simple dance that represents the “sulog” (or current) of a river in Cebu.
Moalboal is famous for its large turtles that frequent the waters. The Sardine Run is located just off the shore of Moalboal, sardines usually gather around Panagsama Beach, making it easily accessible to tourists.
