Lake Mainit in Surigao - Big Lakes In Philippines
Today we will be taking you to the fourth biggest lake in the Philippines called mainit lake in a area called mainit. Mainit is around a 1 hour drive from surigao city and is a nice chilled out relaxing day out of surigao.
Mainit Lake is huge, this being only number 4 in the big lake list in the Philippines i wonder how big the biggest lake is. The water is calm and the surroundings is just as calm.
For food and drinks you will need to go into mainit town, mainit lake is not a popular tourist attraction so has nothing on the lake for people. The town is only a short 5 or 10 minute walk away.
Next we headed to mapaso hot spring. Mapaso is a really pretty well maintained hot spring with around 6 or 7 pools. We only see 2 westerners here so its mainly used by the locals enjoying there weekends and time off.
Entrance into mapaso hot spring is 30 pesos which is a bargain for what they offer you.
All in all it was a great day out to lake mainit and mapaso falls and one we would recommend if you are in the surigao area for a day or 2. The drive is lovely with great views all the way through the countryside.

The Mainit Hot Springs Protected Landscape is a protected landscape area located in the province of Davao de Oro on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines. It preserves the sulfuric hot springs and surrounding forest in Nabunturan municipality which also contains the headwaters of the Manat River, a source of water supply for surrounding villages.

Our BOAT BROKE in the MIDDLE of the OCEAN!!! Dinagat Islands » Surigao City » Mindanao
We want to share the WHOLE story of what happened on the M/V Vince Gabriel boat on September 25, 2022.
FYI: This was in the middle of our 10-day Mindanao Province-Hopping tour and we normally create travel videos and travel vlogs in every province we go to, so it just so happened that we we filmed this entire boat experience on the way to Surigao.
The boat ride was from San Jose, Dinagat Islands to Surigao City, the waves were so big that the outrigger was smashed by the waves, and it cracked. Eventually when the waves got bigger, the entire outrigger was completely ripped off, and we were still 30 minutes away from the shore.
Praise God, we safely made it to Surigao City port and nobody was hurt.
Special thanks to all the boat crew, all the staff, and most importantly the BOAT CAPTAIN for taking control and letting us arrive safely!

Our visit to Mainit Dive Resort, Oslob, Cebu - PLEASE! Watch to the end, It's EPIC
We spent to very 2 relaxing nights at Mainit Dive Resort in Oslob.
Maya and Kim are the perfect hosts making us feel very welcome throughout our stay. We dined in the resort as the food is delicious and very reasonably priced. The room we used was clean and basic but very adequate with a very comfortable bed, fridge, fan and work table. The bathroom has a powerful shower and plenty of space.
The resort offers diving trips in the bay and around Sumilon Island and in the months leading up to May you can dive with the Whale Sharks.
Please note: if you wish to dive please bring you qualification paperwork with you.
The day we left Dolphins appeared in the waters in front of the Hotel.
