What TO DO in EL CALAFATE (Aside from Visiting Glaciers!) | Ice Bar + Dinosaur Museum + Flamingoes ????

Today we’re going to be showing you around the town of El Calafate. In the previous episodes we shared some of the most popular excursions you can do from town - we spent the day at an estancia, we toured the glaciers by boat, and we hiked in Los Glaciares National Park - however, today, we wanted to show you what you can do around town when you’re craving a more relaxed day. So, in this episode, we’ll be walking around a lagoon filled with flamingoes, coming face to face with dinosaurs at a local museum, and hitting up an ice bar while still visiting a few different restaurants. Here a list of the places we'll be visiting in El Calafate:

LAGUNA NIMEZ // Our first stop was Laguna Nimez, which is a nature reserve and bird sanctuary that sits on the shores of Lago Argentino just north of town. It’s a really nice place to enjoy a leisurely stroll, even more so if you’re a bird enthusiast.

HISTORICAL INTERPRETATION CENTRE OF EL CALAFATE // This is a very cool museum that traces the natural history of Southern Patagonia, featuring everything from dinosaur fossils to human artifacts. We really enjoyed learning about the megatherium - a giant sloth that roamed these lands at the same time as humankind.

MI RANCHO // One of our favourite restaurants in El Calafate was Mi Rancho. I ordered the braised ossobuco cooked in the clay oven with a yellow risotto that was a real delight. Meanwhile, Sam ordered the lamb with mushroom risotto and a sweet Calafate berry sauce which was also very good. For dessert, we tried the dulce de leche volcano with chocolate ice cream and wild forest berries. Needless to say, we ate very well in El Calafate!

MI COCINA // What drew us to La Cocina was their pasta tasting menu, which allowed us to try 3 dishes per person. I ordered the tagliatelle with forest mushroom sauce, gnocchi with lamb ragout, and spinach ravioli with a cream sauce featuring ham and chicken. Meanwhile, Sam got the green noodles with a bacon cream sauce, potato and spinach ravioli with Bolognese meat sauce, and squash ravioli with a leek sauce. Overall a great meal!

GLACIARIUM + ICE BAR // Inside the Patagonian Ice Museum we saw a model of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field which is where the glaciers in this area originate, and we also learned about the life of the famous Argentine explorer Francisco Pascasio Moreno. At the end of our visit, we went down to the ice bar which is located at basement level. The walls were covered in ice, the glasses the drinks were served in were also made of ice, and there were even some ice sculptures - a great photo op.

Buenos Aires FOOD TOUR ???? | Eating STEAK, PIZZA + MILANESA Before Leaving Argentina ✈️

In today’s video, we’re taking you on a little do-it-yourself Buenos Aires food tour. We had 3 days in the city before catching our flight back to Canada, and we basically spent those 3 days eating our favourite foods, and getting our fix of classic Argentine dishes! In this video, we’ll be trying different cuts of steaks that are far too big not to share, ordering every slice of pizza at one of our favourite pizzerias, tasting different types of milanesas made with chicken and veal, and of course, sipping on Malbec as we say our farewell to the city. At the end, we’ll share our journey home, and the welcome from our beloved Togo. But now it’s time to eat, so bring your appetite and let’s kick off this Buenos Aires food tour!

So, first up we visited a bodegón, which is one of those old-fashioned restaurants, typical of Buenos Aires, where the portions are abundant and the food is good! We opted for steak at this restaurant. We ordered the entraña, which is a thin cut of beef, and the bife de chorizo, which is the sirloin strip steak. The bife came with a fried egg on top and a giant platter of french fries, rice, potato salad, and mixed salad. It was a lot of food and that dish along would have been plenty for 3 people. The total was $45 USD or $15 per person.

The next day called for pizza! Mainly because Sam instead we couldn’t leave Buenos Aires without visiting one of its oldest pizzerias. Güerrín is located on Corrientes Avenue right in the heart of the theatre district, and the place is always packed. We ordered every individual slice on the menu to give you an idea of what this pizzeria has to offer. There was Napolitan, Pomarolla, Fugazzeta, Anchovies, and the house speciality, Güerrin with red peppers, green olives and lots of mozzarella. The total for that meal with beer was $25 USD or $8 per person.

For our final day in the city, we decided to eat milanesas and supremas. These are breaded cutlets, the only difference is that one is made with veal and the other with chicken breast. This is another classic Argentine dish that needs to be added to your Buenos Aires food tour when you visit. The total for that meal was $40 USD or $13 per person.

And that’s how we feasted during our last 3 days in Buenos Aires. We also consumed plenty of cafe con leche, medialunas, and ice cream, which explains why we might’ve been a little heavier when we got back home and stepped on the scale. But hey, Argentina is a place where you come to eat.

But now let’s travel back to Canada and say hello to Togie!

Visiting La Cumbrecita, Cordoba + Eating German Food in Argentina

Come join us in as we sample eating German food in Argentina while visiting La Cumbrecita, Cordoba. Having an opportunity to revisit La Cumbrecita, a small town where Audrey spent some years growing up, was one of the highlights of our return trip to Argentina. In this video we show you what the small town of La Cumbrecita is all about in terms of attractions, major landmarks and things to do.

For our meal we end up trying German Food. There is a big population of German, Swiss and Austrian Argentines in this particular region of Cordoba, Argentina. With this in mind you can have some of the best German food in Argentina while visiting this region. We'd highly recommend bringing an appetite as German cuisine tends to be quite hearty.

Visiting La Cumbrecita, Cordoba + Eating German Food in Argentina:

Hey guys! We are Samuel and Audrey, a travel vlogging couple from Canada. In this travel channel we share our travel and food vlogs while touring the world.

We had the privilege of traveling around Argentina for nearly 3 months from January- April 2019 on a trip covering a large section of the country.

We kicked things off with several days in Buenos Aires where we were joined by Audrey's parents eating and sightseeing around some of our favourite neighbourhoods in the city. We then flew from Buenos Aires to Cordoba where we spent a couple of weeks in the Sierras of Cordoba visiting both La Cumbrecita and Villa General Belgrano with highlights including hiking and delicious German and Swiss cuisine.

From Cordoba, we then travelled a considerable distance on an overnight bus to Mar Del Plata just in time for a special food festival called Feria Masticar featuring the best of Argentine food and wine. We spent several days enjoying beaches and seafood before heading south to Patagonia to visit the province of Chubut.

While on the Atlantic side of Chubut we visited Puerto Madryn, Peninsula Valdes, Trelew, Gaiman and Dolavon. To summarize our time in this area, we had incredibly close encounters with wildlife including penguins, sea lions and guanacos while also experiencing Welsh culture in Argentina.

Our time in Patagonia continued as we headed from east to west trading more barren landscapes for thick forests, impressive mountains and magnificent lakes. We spent significant time in both Esquel and El Bolson with day trips to visit Trevelin, Parque Nacional Los Alerces, Cholila and Lago Puelo. Highlights included sailing, hiking, riding vintage trains and partaking in the national asado festival.

We finished visiting Patagonia with time spent in Villa La Angostura, San Martin De Los Andes and Bariloche where we enjoyed more stunning scenery and hiking. On our way back to Buenos Aires, we took the Tren Patagonia to Las Grutas before meeting up with Audrey's dad again.

To finish off our trip in Argentina, we spent more time in the capital and later Mendoza where we got to experience wine tourism to its fullest extent. Overall, we had an amazing time travelling around Argentina having only scratched the surface of this vast and diverse country.

Overall our Argentina travel series explores cities, small towns that are off-the-beaten-path, and scenic attractions with a strong emphasis on Argentina cuisine and local culture.

Fuerte Apache Argentinas Dangerous Hood ????????

I vistied El Fuerte Apache in Buenos Aires Argentina. Known as the most dangerous hood in the city. The dangerous barrio is in the outskirts of Buenos Aires and a place not visited by many due to it's dangerous reputation. Legendary football player Carlos Tevez is from here. I made some friends in the hood also known in Argentina as a villa since they don't have favelas most hoods are made up of brick homes stacked on top of each other but this hood has it's own unique architecture. join me as we explore the most dangerous hood in Argentina.
