We are Gladys and Kenny, from Long Island, NY. We've always had a passion for traveling. We finally made our dreams a reality. In January 2018 we downsized and take the necessary steps to pursue our dream, to travel full time for as long as we can. We rented our house, moved into our attached studio apartment, and continued to travel on a part-time basis until it prepared us for full-time travel. On June 30, 2019, we left to travel the world full-time. The first stop was Bali, Indonesia. It wasn't a simple decision to leave our friends and family. However, you only live once and we didn't want to live with any regrets. We want to document our journey, so we recently did so with vlogs on YouTube and Social Media.

WHAT TO SEE / WHAT TO DO QUITO ECUADOR is a video about Quito, Ecuador, and Quito's top attractions and siteseeings.
Quito is the capital of Ecuador and a jumping off point for all Ecuador points of interest. The city is quite unique. It sits at an elevation of 9,350 feet (2,800 meters). Quito is also surrounded by several volcanoes. Cotopaxi, the 2nd largest active volcano in the world can be easily seen on a clear day.

✏️ Continuando la ruta tenia que avanzar más que la última vez, pude llegar hasta Machachi donde consulté en los bomberos si me permitían descansar, su respuesta fue que por supuesto en la estación los bomberos estaban celebrando el Día Nacional del Bombero, me compartieron torta, luego cenamos y mas torta. Solo pensaba estar una noche, pero ellos me dieron flexibilidad en cuanto el tiempo de permanencia.
Les mencione que iba camino al Parque Nacional Cotopaxi el segundo volcán más alto de Ecuador 5897msnm, ellos me propusieron dejar el equipaje para que fuera en bicicleta, deje entonces la mitad de la carga porque además quería acampar una noche dentro del parque, de paso ir hasta la hermosa Laguna de Quilotoa aprox unos 150km de distancia desde Machachi incluyendo la ruta por el Cotopaxi.
Al Parque Nacional ingresé por el puesto de control del Pedregal, que es el acceso norte, el camino estuvo difícil, pero pude hacerlo.
Creí que estaba contemplando el volcán principal, pero en realidad lo confundí todo el tiempo con el volcán Rumiñahui 4712msnm también en el mismo parque, una persona con la que hablé me hizo caer en cuenta y pues la silueta que vi después de eso fue impresionante.
Busque el punto de camping, pero cobraban creo que 5 o 10 dólares por utilizar el espacio, entonces busque otro punto cercano donde no tenía que pagar. Intente prender una fogata, por más de una hora, pero falle, ni con alcohol pude creo q las ramas estaban muy húmedas.
Sentí bastante frio en la noche y toda la madrugada no pude dormir muy bien, me levanté temprano a contemplar el volcán.
Ya saliendo por el puesto de control del Caspi, reconsidere el plan que era levantarme temprano para ir hasta la Laguna de Quilotoa, pues era bastante lejos y tenía q regresar a Machachi por mi equipaje, la distancia total sumaba como 300km no estaba seguro del tiempo que me tomaría tampoco estaría avanzando sino regresándome. Teniendo en cuenta eso y que no había visto el Cotopaxi como esperaba, pedí el favor de que me guardaran la bici en el puesto de control y luego pedí aventón para subir hasta el refugio, nunca había estado tan cerca de la nieve, me gustaría un día poder regresar y escalar hasta su cumbre.
Regrese a Machachi donde llegaron también otros viajeros, en la noche los bomberos me ayudaron a preparar más chocolates les obsequie degustaciones, pero ellos me las compraron, me dejaron comida para que al otro día desayunara. Me esperaba la ruta más larga hasta ese momento por lo que tenía que salir temprano y llegar hasta los bomberos de Ambato a unos 100km de distancia
Muchas Gracias a la compañía de Bomberos de Machachi por el espacio q me brindo para descansar, por compartirme sus comidas y por permitirme guardar equipaje.

Quito is the capital of Ecuador, and the second largest city. Established during the 16th century on Inca ruins, Quito became the first city in the world to be declared by UNESCO a cultural heritage for the humanity in 1978.
The city has more history than buildings. There are more things to do in Quito than you can count, but make sure not to miss the Middle of the World monument.

Qualisa is an Ecuadorian rose grower, located in the Pichincha Province of Northern Cayambe. They were established in 1992 and currently grow 120 varieties under 60 hectares of greenhouse space. They are FairTrade Certified and credit their employees with the success of the company.

Uyumbicho, Ecuador
The Uyumbicho, Pichincha area is home to around 10,375 people. This place in South America is nothing short of small town Ecuador! Just 40 minutes south of Quito, the hustle is real! We were able to stay here for an entire month.

Centrally located, you can get anywhere you'd like to visit in about an hour. We did a lot of minor travel during our time here and had a blast. We highly recommend staying somewhere for a more extended period and just stretching out and adventuring when you get the chance.
I try and give a breakdown of the areas we do our extended stays at, and this is a video of just that. In this short video, I go for a walk through this beautiful small pueblo and show why you should give this town a chance! From ma and pop convenience shops to stadiums and parks, Uyumbicho has a little of everything. I hope you find this helpful when deciding on the safety of Ecuador and where you'd like to stay.

Rumiñahui Turístico
El cantón Rumiñahui, ubicado a veinte minutos de Quito, ofrece atractivos turísticos únicos en el mundo que cautivan a los visitantes. La cascada del Pita, una de las más grandes de la zona con 60 metros de altura, es el lugar ideal para disfrutar y admirar la generosidad de la madre naturaleza.
Para quienes prefiere vivir la adrenalina al máximo, se puede practicar canopy y admirar el encanto natural que forma en su recorrido del Río Pita.
Otro atractivo natural del cantón es la cascada Cóndor Machay, que en kichwa significa Nido de Cóndor. Este salto de agua de 80 metros presenta en su trayecto hermosos y pintorescos paisajes. Cerca de la cascada se puede realizar paseos a caballo y practicar rapel.
Rumiñahui además es cuna de hábiles artesanos como Luis Pinargo, que en su taller Artesanías Pinargo, ubicado en el centro de la ciudad de Sangolqui, elabora sombreros de varias formas y tamaños. En Artesanías Pinargo también se confeccionan trajes tradicionales que cada vez tienen más demanda entre la ciudadanía.
El desarrollo del turismo en Rumiñahui se complementa con una oferta hotelera de primera categoría. Hoteles y hosterías abren sus puertas a los turistas para que disfruten de un servicio de calidad mientras se deleitan con el paisaje inigualable de la Avenida de los Volcanes.
La variada gastronomía es uno de los componentes principales del cantón. Su plato estrella es el hornado cuya preparación y fama data de alrededor de cien años atrás.
El cuy asado es otro plato tradicional renombrado en Rumiñahui. Se lo puede encontrar en el sector de Selva Alegre, donde Blanca Umaquinga elabora este suculento platillo desde hace 35 años. El cuy asado se acompaña con papas cocinadas, salsa de maní, lechuga y tomate. El turista se puede refrescar con una deliciosa chicha de jora.
