Ancient Temples of Manjarath - Majalgaon, Beed
Manjarath (Manjrath) is an old village and is also famous as 'South Kashi' is situated on the confluence of Sindhfana river and Godavari river. The distance of Manjarath from Majalgaon is 10 km. It is said that a 800 ft. long Ghat on the Godavari River, has been constructed by Ahilyabai Holkar. There are many ancient temples like Rishi Kapi Temple, Sheshshayi Vishnu Temple & Laxmi-Trivikram Temple in Manjarath. Manjrath has been named by the main temple of Laxmi-Trivikram. Manjarath is identified by the name of the cat, seen with Lord Sri Trivikram.......
Manjrath Mahatmya: - Gandharva named as Kesari had two wives called Anjana and Andrika. Anjana became ape and Andrika became cat due to curse. After some time, when Andrika had been bathing in the Tirtha near shrine (Godavari-Sindhfana Sangam), she received her original form, It was known as Marjar kshetra which is later named as Manjarath.
