`A Trip to Utrecht` is a short movie which I made by myself after travelling to Utrecht (The Netherlands). The film offers my view at this truly beautiful city. Shot from the travellers point of view, my film enables viewers to develop their knowledge of existing Utrecht's landmarks, as well as allowing them to experience unique cultural aspects of the city that are less well known.

Utrecht is the capital and most populous city in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is located in the eastern corner of the Randstad conurbation, and is the fourth largest city of the Netherlands with a population of 330,772 in 2014.
Utrecht's ancient city centre features many buildings and structures from the Early Middle Ages. It has been the religious centre of the Netherlands since the 8th century. Currently it is the see of the Archbishop of Utrecht, the most important Dutch Roman Catholic leader. Utrecht is also the see of the archbishop of the Old Catholic church, titular head of the Union of Utrecht (Old Catholic), and the location of the offices of the main Protestant church. Until the Dutch Golden Age, Utrecht was the most important city of the Netherlands; then, Amsterdam became its cultural centre and most populous city.
Rhijnhauwen (Utrecht) en de Kromme Rijn.
Tussen Utrecht en Bunnik aan de Kromme Rijn liggen 2 mooie natuur- en wandelgebieden: Amelisweerd en Rhijnauwen. In dit filmpje een impressie van een wandeling door Rhijnauwen en langs de Kromme Rijn. Binnen dat gebied is bos te zien, het fort Rijnauwen (helaas deze dag dicht), weides, het rivierenlandschap van de Kromme Rijn, theehuis Rhijnauwen en kasteel Rhijnauwen. Hoogtepunt in de film een opname van een zingende roodborst alsof het nog volop lente is!

Between Utrecht and Bunnik on the Kromme Rijn there are 2 beautiful nature and hiking areas: Amelisweerd and Rhijnauwen. In this video an impression of a walk through Rhijnauwen and along the Kromme Rijn. Within that area you can see woodland, the Rijnauwen fort (unfortunately closed this day), meadows, the river landscape of the Kromme Rijn, Rhijnauwen tea house and Rhijnauwen castle. The highlight of the film is a recording of a singing robin as if it is still spring!
Driving in the Netherlands: Snelwegen A2 E25 & A27 E311 from 's-Hertogenbosch to Utrecht
In this video you can drive along on Rijkswegen A2 E25 and A27 E311 from 's-Hertogenbosch to Utrecht in the heart of the Netherlands. The A2 is the country's longest motorway. I have featured almost all of it on this channel, except the part Utrecht - Amsterdam.
The A2 is a busy motorway and has a minimum setup of 2 x 3 lanes pretty much across the board except for the Southern part in the Limburg province. The A27, a motorway I also featured before on this channel, runs from Breda in the South to Almere in the heart of the country.
's-Hertogenbosch or 'Den Bosch' is the capital of the Brabant province and has about 170.000 inhabitants. Utrecht is the country's 4th biggest city with well over 300.000 inhabitants and the place where much of the Netherlands' infrastructure comes together. This is also visible in the road network, as you see we are passing quite a few motorway junctions. The Ring Utrecht (beltway) is one of the busiest and traffic-prone areas of the Dutch motorway network.

Wandelen op de Landgoederen van Amelisweerd en Rhijnauwen.
De landgoederen Rhijnauwen en Amelisweerd liggen aan de oostkant van Utrecht, tussen Utrecht en Bunnik in. Ze zijn tezamen ongeveer 300 hectare groot en bestaan uit bos, weide, akkers en boomgaarden. Tot de landgoederen behoren acht landbouwbedrijven. Op deze bedrijven wordt hoofdzakelijk melkvee gehouden.

Join me for Flashback Friday. Once a week I will share a classic tour so that the community can watch together.
The incredible De Haar Castle is located near Utrecht and is the largest castle in the Netherlands. Designed by Pierre Cuypers, this opulent 19th-century castle was once the residence of the Van Zuylen family and was visited by many celebrities during the 1960s.
This enchanting fairy-tale castle is set in its own extensive English landscape inspired parkland and is surrounded by some very beautiful French-style geometric gardens. On this tour, I am going to take you on a gentle walk through the gardens, and around the park. Together we will pass over quaint little bridges and along tree-lined avenues. We may even catch a glimpse of some deer, as the park is home to a number of these majestic creatures. If we are lucky, we will be able to take some beautiful postcards of these delightful animals against the stunning backdrop of the castle parklands.

Het mooiste park in de mooiste omgeving van Utrecht. Dat geldt voor bijna alle jaargetijden. Veel meer hoeft er niet over gezegd te worden. Behalve dat op een zonnige voorjaarsdag met de lentebloemen op de grond onder de nog kale bomen er een goed zicht is op de mooie huizen rondom het park.

The most beautiful park in the most beautiful surroundings of Utrecht. This applies to almost all seasons. Not much more needs to be said about it. Except that on a sunny spring day with the spring flowers on the ground under the still bare trees there is a good view of the beautiful houses around the park.

Driving in the Netherlands: A15 and A27 E311 from Rotterdam to Utrecht

Welcome back to the Dutch highway. In this video you can drive along on the A15 and A27 motorways from Rotterdam to Utrecht. The usual (little shorter and faster) route would be the A20 and A12 connection. In this case the navigation recommended A15 / A27 so I went along with it.
The A12 is a 2x5 lane super highway, however the A20 is still only 2x2 lanes at its narrowest between Gouda and Rotterdam, leading to a lot of congestion. The A15 and A27 is also not the smoothest corridor. It was fine to drive in this video because it was a Sunday so little to no truck traffic. Usually the A15 is full with trucks because it's one of the main connectors between the Port of Rotterdam and the German Ruhrgebiet.
As you can see in the video the A15 is just 2x2 lanes from the exit Dordrecht, however in the past month they were able to open the 2x3 alignment there for a couple of extra kilometers. There are also some obvious bottlenecks in the A27 with just a 2x2 alignment, although it's an important North-South route in the Netherlands and the main connection between Utrecht - Breda and beyond (Antwerp). The A27 is due for an extensive overhaul but its narrow alignment and lack of space on the outside on some stretches are causing problems.

This film is a Moss Travel Media Production -
I stayed at the Queen Hotel in Eindhoven, The Netherlands in January 2019. A double room on a room only basis cost €351.50 for five nights, which is not cheap, but hotels in the Netherlands are often not cheap.
The hotel is excellently located in the city's main Market Square, which is a 5 minute walk from Eindhoven Centraal railway station.
Check-in was very quick and very efficient, my room 122 was on the first floor of the hotel at the back, it had no view, and I was a little disappointed by this. I couldn't be bothered requesting a room change, so I just left it as was. The room was small and comfortable, nice and warm with a good double bed. The bathroom was very good with a nice shower cubicle.
The one annoyance about the room was noise from the corridor outside, not only was it noisy listening to people coming and going from the other bedrooms, there was a cleaners cupboard straight outside of the room.
Besides the above, I very much enjoyed my stay, and I would not let this put me off staying again, but I would request to stay in another room on a higher floor with a view of the market square.
