LOVECH BULGARIA | Full Travel Guide for Historical Town България

This Bulgaria 4k video continues my Bulgaria trip on the road through Central Bulgaria, one of the best road trips in Eastern Europe and not on major tourist maps, where I will show you more historic sites in Eastern Europe. In this Bulgaria travel video, I am exploring Lovech, one of the small historic cities in Eastern Europe, that are not on major tourist maps, at least not yet. It's a beautiful small town located in central Bulgaria and is yet another amazing historic site in Southeastern Europe. This travel walking tour through this great place in Bulgaria takes us to all major site in Lovech Bulgaria. Stick around to the end for some amazing drone footage from this beautiful city and some really cool nature shots during a beautiful sunset in the city and ruins just above Lovech, and a tip for an amazing traditional Bulgarian Restaurant.

What I like in Bulgaria is that there is so much to see and explore everywhere. Lovech is located about 150 kilometers (93 miles) northeast from the capital city of Sofia. Lovech is a pretty small town with only about 36,000 residents. But it is actually one of the oldest towns in Bulgaria and a truly historic place in Eastern Europe. In 1187 the peace treaty between the Bulgarian Empire and the Byzantine Empire was signed in Lovech. This marked the beginning of the Second Bulgarian Empire and Lovech became an important trade centre and one of the most famous towns in Bulgaria.

Lovech Fortress,City of Lovech,Bulgaria with Daniel Dimitrov

Exploring the Lovech Fortress Hisarya (Крепост Хисаря). A great medieval Bulgaria fortress

This is a very nice place to visit. The fortress was created during the First Bulgarian Empire, 681-1018 AC. The peace treaty between Byzantium and Bulgaria was signed here in 1187 AC and that was not minor. This action marked the birth of the Second Bulgarian Empire, a new beginning for Bulgaria, and the end for Byzantium, after two centuries, of ruling over Bulgarians.

This fortress that you will see on top of Lovech, no matter the place in the city you are, is a great landmark of the city. When you visit it, you will be stepping on one of the last Ottoman citadels that still remain and are in very good shape, we can say. The place has been well maintained so you will really see a fortress and not only rocks that suppose to be a fortress. Actually now is used as a venue for musical concerts and other art expressions. During the night, lights illuminate it, offering a cool view for visitors and residents.

360 Virtual Tour of Covered Bridge:

Lovely Lovech; I finally find a pretty Bulgarian town! To Troyan Monastery

Day 30. 44km (52379kms)
As I gathered the predominately toilet paper waste from my little clearing I startled an early morning walker. I wondered if she was on her way to leave some of her own.

Perhaps if Lovech fortress had been properly described as Lovech fortress ruins I wouldn’t have been disappointed. The views of the cliffs around the bend in the Osum River were impressive though.

But at last! A pretty Bulgarian town! Between the older timber and brick cottages around the fort, and the pastel coloured townhouses on the main square, I found the whole place very pleasant to cycle and to just sit. The covered bridge is a unique attraction in Bulgaria too, lined with tourist shops, but still very authentic-looking from the outside.

After returning the the covered bridge’s viewpoint to retrieve my helmet (I’d left it an hour or 2 before when I’d used it to prop my bike - my brain!!), and after a supermarket stop, I set off on the easy ride to Troyan monastery. It was already 4pm, but I wasn’t too worried, I didn’t plan to go far.

I was feeling much more cheerful as I rode up the gentle gradient back into the mountains. The sun had returned, the wind still at my back. The monastery was staggering, but I couldn’t concentrate on that now; my first priority was to find a place to sleep, knowing that tonight was forecast to be -4C. In Bulgarian I was directed to wait. In time 2 young monks returned from the town bearing shopping bags (why do I find it so weird whenever I see a bearded monk grocery shopping?!) and I was shown to a room. Troyan Monastery run a guest house so the price for warmth tonight is 30 Lev. With the heater on max, and after a hot shower I popped outside briefly to confirm what I already knew; the night was cooooooooold! Money well spent.

Covered Bridge in Lovech | A Romantic Hideway in Bulgaria

Covered Bridge in Lovech | A Romantic Hideway in Bulgaria
The Covered Bridge in the town of Lovech, Bulgaria. The name comes from an old Bulgarian word meaning River City. The bridge crosses the Osam River, connecting the old Varosha and new town parts of Lovech, being possibly the most recognisable symbol of the town. After the bridge that then served the town was almost completely destroyed by a flood in 1872, the local police chief ordered the famous Bulgarian master builder Kolyu Ficheto to construct a new one. Ficheto personally chose the material for the wooden bridge. Each citizen of Lovech contributed to the building process, the poorer ones working themselves and the wealthier donating money and paying other workers. Building completed in 1874.
The initial bridge had a length of 84 m and 6 vents and accommodated 64 shops. It was, however, wholly destroyed by fire on the night of 2 to 3 August 1925. A more modern bridge was constructed at its place in 1931 only to be replaced by a reconstruction of Kolyu Ficheto's design in 1981-1982. The current bridge is 106 m long and has 14 shops, the architect being Zlatev. The covered bridge is a popular place among tourists, and souvenirs from Lovech can be bought from its shops. The bridge above the Osam river is also the only covered bridge on the Balkan Peninsula. In terms of natural landmarks Lovech has to offer much as well.

Beautiful Lovech, BULGARIA /

City of Lovech,Bulgaria with Daniel Dimitrov

Путешествуем по Болгарии. Город Ловеч. Крытый мост/Traveling in Bulgaria Lovech town. Covered bridge

I greet all my viewers on the #Odenisova channel and invite us on a trip to the Bulgarian town of Lovech 2020. What is this town famous for? In addition to the natural beauty, which is abundant here, this city is famous for its covered bridge. There are few such bridges in Europe, but in the Balkans there is only one! The bridge was built by Nikola Fichev in 1874 - 1886. The length of the bridge is 106 m, width is 10 m, on both sides of the bridge there were trade shops and workshops of artisans. In 1925 the bridge burned down, later in 1931 it was completely restored. In Europe, we saw other covered bridges, and I remembered that. Each of these architectural masterpieces is impressive! This is a short history of the bridge, but in this beautiful town there is also a Medieval fortress, we also visited it, and monuments to the heroes of Bulgaria. We spent the night at the Stratesh hotel right in the park. The hotel is not bad, but the service and cleaning is poor. The Lovech hotel in the center is now under restoration and it pleases, the city needs good hotels for tourists! Watch my positive music video and may your mood improve and smiles appear! Happy viewing!

Devetashka Cave - Bulgaria (Full guide and drone footage)
Devetashka Cave - Bulgaria (Full guide and drone footage)

The Devetashka cave is one of the most beautiful and well-known caves in Bulgaria and is on the list of the most visited objectives by Romanians who choose to explore the north or center of this country.
It can also be on your list if you are going to Greece and just passing through Bulgaria, with a short detour before reaching Plevna.
The average height of the central hall of the cave is 60 meters, but in some places it even reaches 100 meters, which will make you feel in a completely different dimension, because the holes in the ceiling have a special visual effect .
The length of the cave is 2442 meters, which makes it one of the longest caves in the whole country. Besides the central hall, Devetashka has two more sections.
The section on the right is located in a drier and warmer area and has an entrance of 2.5 meters, forming a rectangular room of approximately 50 meters in length. At the end of this section, you will also find a small round room, locally called the Altar of the Devetashka cave.
The section on the left stretches for 2 kilometers, and here you will be able to see a small river that runs along the length of this part of the cave.
The Devetashka cave hosts specimens of 15 species of bats, and during the breeding season (in June and July), it is closed, precisely to protect the bat colonies and their reproduction process.

To be visited near Devetashka Cave

If you have decided to explore the surroundings of the Devetashka Cave, there are a number of attractions that you can consider.

The Krushuna waterfalls are at a distance of 16 kilometers from the Devetashka cave and are among the main tourist attractions of the area. You can find parking nearby, but also terraces and other facilities, and to reach the beautiful waterfalls, you have to follow the red route.

The Stalbitsata Cave can be visited after a 35-minute drive from Devetashka. It can be accessed by only one way, namely a rather generous row of steps that go down into its only gallery. The cave is very beautiful and has a rock at its end where you can see really special formations, but you have to be lucky with the sun, because the cave is not artificially lit, and the only source of light is the access point.

The town of Lovech is about 20 kilometers from Devetashka and also one of the places where you could spend a night before heading to other attractions in this area of Bulgaria.
You can visit the Lovech Fortress, but also the Covered Bridge or the Zoo here., but also the Covered Bridge or the Zoo here.
