En este vídeo recojo algunos de los momentos que viví en La Habana, Viñales, Cienfuegos y Trinidad. No me dio tiempo a más, pero siempre es bueno quedarse con ganas para repetir otra vez!

After a month studying at the famous film school in San Antonio de los Baños (#EICTV) - which if you like film, I recommend it, not only for the quality of teaching but also because it was a wonderful experience, it's a film boarding school in the heart of Cuba! - I had time to visit the country for a few more days before I had to return to Spain.
In this video, I've collected some of the moments I experienced in Havana, Viñales, Cienfuegos and Trinidad. I didn't have time for more, but it's always good to leave something for the next time!

No matter how limited your time in Cuba, you’d do well to eke out a day or two to visit the incomparably beautiful valley of Viñales. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this is one of the country’s most spectacular natural landscapes.

Jonny here, right now I'm in Havana, and in this short film I'm going to explain a little about tourism in Cuba.
Most cultural holidays to Cuba will start in Havana, a city of magnificent decaying colonial architecture, monuments and parks, museums and galleries, music and bars and large old American cars.
But the first thing you'll probably notice wandering around Havana is the near total lack of consumerism. Cuba is still a communist country with no commercial influence from America, and as such there's almost no evidence at all of the large multinationals we're used to in the West; you won't find any Starbucks or McDonalds here. There are no billboards advertising Coca Cola, there are no glass fronted shopping malls. Which is actually really quite refreshing. The whole city gives you a sense of stepping back in time.
Here in Havana you should enjoy a tour of the cities main sites, an evening at the Bueno Vista Social Club, and trip to one of her many museums. You'll need at least a couple of days, its a very fun place.
In two weeks time Trinidad will celebrate its 500 anniversary. Founded only a few years after Christopher Columbus discovered the America's, the town shot to prominence in the 19th century as one of the world's largest exporters of sugar. With its fine plazas, palaces and churches, and its famous cobbled streets lined by colourful houses, it developed into masterpiece of colonial Caribbean architecture. So well preserved is the town that in 1988 it was awarded UNESCO World Heritage Status and today forms an important part of most cultural trips to the country.
From Trinidad you might continue east to visit the revolutionary centre of Santiago de Cuba, or head west to enjoy the amazing landscapes around Vinales. Or you might like to do something completely different.
Of course there are plenty of other things to enjoy in Cuba besides the cultural highlights Trinidad and Havana offer. Cuba is blessed with beautiful countryside through which to can go hiking, cycling and horse back riding. Right now I am at a government ranch called La Guabina, in Pinar del Rio province. Each year Wild Frontiers takes the place over to run a horse riding tour of the area and horse riding is primarily what I have come here to do. But if riding is not your thing, from here you can also go on wonderful walks, go fishing or boating on one of the regions many lakes, indulge in some bird watching, or just relax away from the more chaotic life urban Cuba has to offer.
And finally of course there are beaches. As an island over a 1000 kilometres in length, with the Gulf of Mexico on one side and the Caribbean Sea on the other, there are hundreds of wonderful beaches just waiting to be enjoyed. And in our experience, Cayo Levisa, where I am now, is one of the best.
Relatively close to Havana, and relatively small in size, Cayo Levisa offers all the usual activities you'd associate with a modern beach resort, like sailing, fishing snorkeling and diving, but is small enough to not have you feeling drowned by mass tourism. As with a number of other similar locations, Cayo Levisa offers a great way to round off your trip to Cuba.
Of course a cultural adventure to Cuba will not be for everyone. With luxury accommodation pretty much non-existent, transport pretty basic, the cuisine though in places surprisingly good, in others rather plain, and a service level that is at best eclectic, those looking for a high end experience will almost certainly be disappointed here.
But if you're the kind of traveller that is interested in seeing a country that hasn't really changed in the last 50 years, a place that has not been overwhelmed by all the trappings of modern consumerism, and are happy to go with the flow in one of the world's last remaining communist countries, then here in Cuba you will find one of the most friendly, authentic, historically interesting and culturally rich places in the whole of Latin America.
My advice is to come soon before it all changes.

In this short video you will be introduced to the lesser known Cienfuegos. However, it is worth going there for at least a day. It is located 5 hours from Havana. Walk along the maleçon, visit the Palacio Ferrer or visit the world famous La Union Hotel. Beautiful shades in fabulous decors and tropical luxury atmosphere. You can also make beautiful views from the air. Be sure to visit the Punta Gorda and go to the small hidden park where the locals spend their weekends.

La Plaza de Armas.
Es la plaza más antigua en La Habana, es el centro histórico de la ciudad, se construyó en 1559 entre a la iglesia Parroquial Mayor y el Castillo de la Real Fuerza. Pocos años después, en 1589 la plaza ya tenía el tamaño actual y era centro de la vida ciudadana. Rodeada de palmeras, y en su centro, un pequeño jardín con una estatua; en 1834 la estatua era de la del rey Fernando VII, después se cambió por la de Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, líder de la Guerra de independencia en el siglo XIX.
En la Plaza de Armas se puede visitar, por orden de importancia; el Palacio de los Capitanes Generales, el Palacio del Segundo Cabo, el Templete, el Castillo de la Real Fuerza, el palacio de los condes de Santovenia, hoy el Hotel Santa Isabel, el Templete y el Museo Nacional de Historia Natural.

C'est la plus ancienne place de La Havane. C'est le centre historique de la ville. Elle a été construite en 1559 entre l'église du Paroisse Mayor et le Château de la force royale. Quelques années plus tard, en 1589, la place avait déjà la taille actuelle et était le centre de la vie civique. Entouré de palmiers et en son centre, un petit jardin avec une statue; en 1834 la statue était de celle du roi Fernando VII, plus tard elle fut changée par celle de Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, chef de la guerre d'indépendance au siècle XIX.
Dans la Plaza de Armas, vous pouvez visiter, par ordre d'importance; le palais des capitaines généraux, le palais du deuxième cap, le temple, le château de la force royale, le palais des comtes de Santovenia, aujourd'hui l'hôtel Santa Isabel, le petite temple et le musée national d'histoire naturelle.
Lugares para visitar en España - Palacio Sobrellano en Comillas, Cantabria
Situado en una de las villas costeras más bellas de Cantabria, Comillas (España), por su fabuloso patrimonio arquitectónico, se encuentra el Palacio de Sobrellano y su Capilla-Panteón. Ambos diseñados por Joan Martorell bajo el encargo del I Marqués de Comillas, el empresario indiano D. Antonio López López. El conjunto monumental de Palacio y Capilla-Panteón es una auténtica joya arquitectónica de estilo neogótico y estética modernista por su carácter integrador de todas las artes.
D. Antonio López del Piélago y López de Lamadrid, I Marqués de Comillas, nació en una familia humilde de dicha localidad. Quedó huérfano a muy temprana edad y destaca por su rápido enriquecimiento, a pesar de sus comienzos. Es el hombre hecho a sí mismo, ejemplo de quien triunfó y vio cumplido el sueño de todo indiano. En 1853 y a los 36 años de edad regresa de Cuba con una notable fortuna. Establece su empresa en Barcelona. En 1881 y en su plena madurez, era propietario de la mayor empresa naviera española, la Compañía Trasatlántica, había creado el Banco Hispano Colonial, fundado la Compañía General de Tabacos de Filipinas, la Sociedad de Crédito Mercantil y poseía un alto porcentaje de la Compañía de Ferrocarriles del Norte, entre otros.
El Palacio fue realizado con posterioridad a la Capilla-Panteón y fue ideado como residencia de verano del Marqués y la Familia Real. Las obras comienzan en 1882 y el edifico es inaugurado años después de la muerte del I Marqués. En la actualidad la visita al Palacio es guiada y tiene lugar por las principales estancias de la casa mostrándose la sala del billar, el comedor, la sala del trono, la biblioteca y el museo del II Marqués. Todas ellas situadas en la primera planta. Destacan los materiales nobles utilizados paras su construcción como las tarimas de los suelos, de roble y ébano o las puertas de nogal. La majestuosa escalera de alabastro del vestíbulo, con doble tiro e iluminación cenital a través de una claraboya de vidrieras polícromas y las chimeneas diseñadas por Cristóbal Cascante.
Pero sin duda, la sala más decorada es el salón central o del trono. Debe destacarse su artesonado y las paredes, decoradas con pan de oro. Las vidrieras de esta sala fueron realizadas en los talleres de Eudald Amigó y son de gran belleza y colorido. Las pinturas murales fueron realizadas por Llorens i Masdeu y narran los acontecimientos más significativos del marquesado. Los cuatro temas fueron elegidos por el II Marqués y son la inauguración del Seminario de Comillas en 1887 por éste último, la bendición de la Capilla-Panteón en 1881, la gran Revista Naval ofrecida en el Puerto de Comillas durante la visita regia de 1881, donde aparecen los retratos de la familia del I Marqués junto a la Familia Real y el embarque en el puerto de Barcelona, el 24 de marzo de 1869, de los voluntarios catalanes en el vapor “España”, cedido por la Compañía A. Lopez y Cía como apoyo del I Marqués al rey en la guerra contra Cuba.
