Our BOAT BROKE in the MIDDLE of the OCEAN!!! Dinagat Islands » Surigao City » Mindanao
We want to share the WHOLE story of what happened on the M/V Vince Gabriel boat on September 25, 2022.
FYI: This was in the middle of our 10-day Mindanao Province-Hopping tour and we normally create travel videos and travel vlogs in every province we go to, so it just so happened that we we filmed this entire boat experience on the way to Surigao.
The boat ride was from San Jose, Dinagat Islands to Surigao City, the waves were so big that the outrigger was smashed by the waves, and it cracked. Eventually when the waves got bigger, the entire outrigger was completely ripped off, and we were still 30 minutes away from the shore.
Praise God, we safely made it to Surigao City port and nobody was hurt.
Special thanks to all the boat crew, all the staff, and most importantly the BOAT CAPTAIN for taking control and letting us arrive safely!

Dinagat Islands, Philippines | My home town Loreto
In Southern Philippines lies a group of islands, Dinagat Islands . In the northern tip of this island is my home town Loreto. There are 13 municipalities and the seat town is San Jose. To reach this island from the mainland, one has to take a boat 'Lantsa' as we call it.

We want to prove to you that travel does NOT have to be expensive. Come with us on this 3-day adventure as we go island hopping around the Dinagat Islands. We went swimming, cliff jumping, and the best part, FOOD TRIPPING around the province of the Dinagat Islands.
We also included a little clip of the Vince Gabriel boat incident that happened, but please don't let this stop you from visiting the province. The Dinagat Islands is beautiful and worthy of being a top destination in the Philippines. These crazy boat incidents rarely happen, and it can be avoided as long as you avoid stormy weather and only travel during good weather :)

Where is the Dinagat Islands?
Dinagat Islands is located West of Siargao and North of Surigao City — a group of islands constituting a province in the Caraga region in the Philippines. The language spoken are Surigaonon, Cebuano and the local dialect of Dinagatnon. Tagalog is not common in the island province which makes it a bit hard to communicate to some locals in the area.
How to go to the Dinagat Islands DIY
The closest airport will be Surigao Airport and Butuan Airport (BXU). Whichever airport you come from, you need to go to Surigao Port to get to Dinagat Islands.
If you come from Butuan, there are multicabs outside the airport that will take you the bus / van terminal for Php50.00 and 15 minutes ride. From the terminal, ride a van or bus to Surigao City. Travel time is 2.5-3 hours (van) and 4-5 hours (bus).

Loreto is a 5th class municipality in the province of Dinagat Island, Philippines. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 8,751 people in 1,840 households.
In the northern side of the mainland of Surigao del Norte lies Dinagat Island which was dubbed by General Douglas MacArthur as one of the three sentinel islands guarding the Central Philippines from the enemies in the Pacific. Loreto is one of the seven municipalities established in this island. It is endowed with rich mineral resources like aluminous laterite ore, chromite, gold, niceliferous laterite, sand and gravel, guano, rock phosphate, limestone, and siliceous sand. It is also considered as an excellent fishing ground.
The municipality is blessed with historical places and natural beauty spots like white beaches, waterfalls, hot springs and clusters of mountains. These include Polo Beach, Black Beach No. 2, Cambinliw Falls and River, Krominco Campsite, Loreto Desolation Point Light House, and Esperanza Natural Spring Resort.
Loreto is politically subdivided into 10 barangays.
