THAILAND TRAVEL AND MONKEYS! AYUTTHAYA/LOPBURI/SARABURI

LIKE. SUBSCRIBE. SHARE. lots on new content on the way.
This was a 2 day trip to 3 different province around Thailand

The first day we drove to Lopburi which is about 2 hours from Bangkok. Very few tourists here but it is worth visiting to see the infamous monkey temples. You can walk around and feed and play with the monkeys, it was awesome. Entrance is free.

Next we visited King Narai's palace in Lopburi. Entrance was free this day due to the passing of the previous King.

From there we drove to Khao Chin Lae which is a large mountainous area 40 minutes drive from Lopburi city. I was the only foreigner in sight, it was lovely. Nice temples here and an incredible view if you can get up the 436 steps to the top.

We then moved on to Saraburi which is famous for its huge sunflower fields. They are only really seen in this particular province on such a large scale. Extremely beautiful for sunset and very popular among thais.

The following day, we departed from Saraburi and drove 2 hours to Ayutthaya, the old capital city of Siam. Famous for its fantastic ruins and ancient temples. Very beautiful city and only 40 minutes from Bangkok. It makes a good day trip.

Top 10 Places to Visit in Thailand

Hi everyone. This is David Hoffmann of Davidsbeenhere. In the spring of 2013, I spent six incredible weeks exploring the country of Thailand. I drove from Bangkok all the way up to Chiang Rai and then flew down to the islands.

My Film Making Kit ►

Ayutthaya Historical Park, which in addition to it being a fascinating historical park, is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s about one hour from Bangkok, which makes it a quick and easy day trip from the city.

Bangkok, here’s a reason why this gritty, sophisticated, chaotic, cosmopolitan city is such a draw for travelers from all over the world. Here, you can visit Thailand’s top attraction, the Grand Palace complex; admire the impressive, porcelain architecture at Wat Arun, also known as the Temple of the Dawn; see the largest reclining Buddha statue in Thailand at Wat Pho; experience a feast for both your eyes and your stomach in the Chinatown district; experience one of Thailand’s best culinary gems at Boat Noodle Alley and so much more. I love this city so much. It’s truly a traveler’s paradise.

Chiang Mai, millions of travelers and expats from all over the world have been entranced by this city over the years, and it’s not hard to see why, between the laid-back culture, incredible dining, gorgeous Buddhist temples, and spirited nightlife. The nightly bazaar is a favorite among bargain shoppers looking for deals on various items, but the Sunday Night Market is where you’ll also find musicians, street performers, and vendors selling handmade arts and crafts.

The White Temple, an ornate architectural marvel that's just a 20-minute drive south from Chiang Rai. It was built and conceptualized by Thai artist Ajarn Chalermchai Kositpipat, who purposely designed it so that it doesn’t match the style of other Buddhist temples in the country.

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, located an hour and a half from Bangkok. Here you can buy souvenirs, fresh produce, and clothing from local vendors and try local dishes like noodle bowls, coconut pancakes, stir-fried dishes, fresh fruit, and spring rolls. Arrive early to avoid the mid-morning influx of tourists and don’t forget to bring cash!

Golden Triangle Park, which lies roughly 45 minutes north of Chiang Rai where the Mekong River separates Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos. While this area was once known for its opium production, the crop has since been eradicated here.

Koh Lanta Island should definitely be on your itinerary. Koh Lanta offers a much more laid-back atmosphere than the bustling beaches of Phuket and Samui. Bamboo Beach’s crystal clear water makes it perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Be sure to check out Lanta Old Town and Koh Lanta National Park while you’re on the island.

Lopburi, a town located 150 kilometers northeast of Bangkok and is known for its ancient ruins.Unlike the ruins at Ayutthaya and Sukothai, the ruins of Lopburi will take a lot more effort to visit because they’re more spread out.The ruins of Lopburi are well known for the energetic macaques that roam the temples.

Phuket, which is well-known around the world for its beaches, incredible views, and nightlife. Phuket boasts 25 Buddhist temples, including Wat Chong, a three-story temple that is said to house a bone relic of the Buddha. If you’d rather take part in some water-based activities, check out one of Phuket’s beaches, including Surin, Bang Tao,and Patong. I visited Phang Nga Bay with Captain Mark’s Alternative tours for a full day speed boat tour.

Sukhothai, the first ancient capital of the Kingdom of Siam and like Ayutthaya, the historical park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Some of the site’s most beautiful and impressive structures at include the park’s largest temple, Wat Mahatat, the three-pillared Wat Si Sawai temple, and Pra Achana Buddha at Wat Si Chun. Sukhothai Historical Park is quite large and requires a full day to see it all.

And that’s my list of ten places you must visit when you go to Thailand. There’s truly something for everyone in this amazing country, and as I said earlier, my trip there is one of my favorites I’ve ever gone on. If you’ve never been to Thailand, I hope this video made you want to go! If you loved this video, please give it a thumbs up, leave me a comment below, and subscribe to my channel. And I will see you in the next travel adventure!

Exploring Monkey Temple in Lopburi, Thailand

Exploring Monkey Temple in Lopburi, Thailand

►Read the blog:

Join David as he explores one of the ancient cities of Thailand, Lopburi. Located 150 kilometers northeast of Thailand (three-hour drive), the city is a living museum of ancient Angkor-style temples. Lopburi is one of Thailand’s oldest inhabited cities. It has earned the nickname ‘City of Monkeys’ and it’s easy to see why. Lopburi is completely overrun with hundreds of crab eating macaques. These mischievous monkeys are concentrated around the two main temples – Phra Prang Sam Yot and Phra Kaan Shrine (across the street from one another). Many people visit Lopburi as part of a group tour, but it is possible to park near the railway station and sightsee on your own by foot. Just don’t leave your belongings unattended! Unlike the historical parks of Ayutthaya and Sukothai, the ruins of Lopburi are more spread out and will require more effort to see them all.

Things to do in Saraburi + Lopburi province.

Continuing from our last episode, you can catch up on the latest developments here:

In this latest episode, we venture further north, delving into an array of captivating sightseeing destinations and delectable food experiences.

First, we make a pit stop at a Saraburi province petrol station to savour the renowned Karee Pup, a snack possibly named after the delectable Curry Puff.

Following that, we enjoy a swift yet satisfying lunch at a century-old restaurant specializing in deep-fried wontons, located within the Sao Hai market, itself celebrating a century of existence.

Kieow Krob 100 years restaurant:
100 years old Sao Hai market:

1. Wat Tham Krabok Temple

- A mesmerizing place to visit, boasting unique architectural statues crafted from lava stone. The sight of these statues is truly awe-inspiring. As you wander through the temple grounds, you'll quickly grasp the contrast between our small human presence and the grandeur of the giant Buddha images that surround us.

2. Phra Prang Sam Yot

- In this episode, we briefly explore ancient buildings by car. However, if you have extra time, we recommend visiting Phra Prang. It is a renowned site with a significant historical background. Interestingly, the monkeys near Phra Prang are generally more approachable than those occasionally found in buildings. While local Thai residents often exercise caution when around Phra Prang, you can enjoy a safe visit as long as you refrain from disturbing the monkeys. On the other hand, in my personal experience, the monkeys in other areas tend to be wilder.

3. Basil & Coffee

- This place is well-known for its Pad Kraprao and Coffee, but unfortunately, we got there late, so we missed out on trying the Pad Kraprao this time. However, we still had a wonderful coffee and some tasty snacks while kicking back and soaking in the beautiful view in front of us.

4. Sub-Lek Reservoir

- We decided to check out the man-made beach, which is just a small section of this reservoir. You can find the exact location here:
The atmosphere in this area is pretty local, with the pleasant background noise of other groups not too far away. The sunset behind the mountain is hands down one of the best you'll find in Thailand. If you're looking for an even better view of the sunset, consider taking a short hike up the 200-meter pathway to this spot, guaranteed to give you a fantastic IG-worthy photo. Here's the location for that:

I've been fortunate to have a couple YouTube friends join me on this exciting journey. Make sure to visit their channels and subscribe for more adventures:

Lop Buri Monkey Town Thailand

Lopburi also spelled Lop Buri is a small town 150km north of Bangkok. Inhabited by 6000 monkeys wandering loose in town and in the old ruins. They are cherished by the population because of the legend that King Rama build Lop Buri with the help of Hanuman the legendary half man half ape creature.

A fun location and you will probably be the only tourist! The best way to get to Lop Buri is by train it’s on the route Chiang Mai - Bangkok.

Lopburi Thailand - Old Town Walking Tour - 2022

Lopburi is a large province in Central Thailand. The provincial capital is also called Lopburi and is one of Thailand’s oldest cities.

Prehistoric artifacts have been discovered in the area; it was a major settlement during the Dvaravati era (between the 6th and 11th centuries), and it was also an important town during the Khmer period. It came under Thai rule in the late 13th century and served briefly as a Siamese capital.

Today, Lopburi has two distinct areas: the Old Town and New Town. Most places of interest to tourists can be found in the atmospheric Old Town. There are fascinating Ancient Ruins to explore, and part of the town is overrun with mischievous crab eating macaques.

Many people start around Wat Prang Sam Yod, an ancient Khmer period temple that is also known as the Monkey Temple. Although small, the ruins are interesting, with three prangs and a large stone Buddha statue. It’s also easy to see the Khmer influence in the architecture.

There are many small temple ruins to see as well as the former royal palace of King Narai. Other interesting things to see include the oldest building in the city, the city wall and so much more.

The best part about exploring places like this is you never know what you will see.

Thailand's Crazy Monkey Town

Lopburi – Thailand’s Crazy Monkey Town
Another trip Patticha & me made together➡

There is a town in central Thailand that is known as Thailand’s money town: Lop Buri. Thousands of monkeys are living in the city and are about to take over the town. What became quite a tourist attraction for Lopburi can also get annoying for the people living there. I was curious about Thailand’s monkey town and had to check out the Lopburi monkeys. Fee free to join the journey to Lop Buri and the day there.

The place around which you can find the monkeys

Travel around Thailand Lopburi city the city of monkey

Lopburi is one of the oldest cities in the country. What remains today is the beautiful architecture, the temple and a lot of monkeys! They have taken over the town pretty much. This city was built over 3,000 years ago. It is 3 hours north of Bangkok. Besides the temple and the monkeys, you can venture out of the town for rock climbing, waterfall, sunflower fields and bat caves.
One of the most interesting festival of Lopburi is MONKEY BUFFET FESTIVAL
This is quite an unique Festival in the very cultural country of Thailand. Set up in the province of Lopburi, North of Bangkok, the Monkey Buffet Festival is held for the benefit of the monkeys. 4000 kilograms of fruits, vegetables, cakes, candies is set down in front of temples on tables, in pyramid or just on a simple mat for the delight of the 3000 monkeys living in the area.

Lopburi Khmer Temples and Monkey Tour :) (Thailand 2019)

Lopburi is a relatively small town about a 3-hour train ride away from Bangkok. Despite being small it's popular with Thailand tourists because of all the monkeys living in the middle of the town. They roam around freely and are a really lively pack, constantly keeping the inhabitants of Lopburi in action. We got a taste of what it has to be living in Lopburi on our first morning. Our Hotel had a tin roof adjacent to its roof, where to monkeys were running around and screaming early in the morning. You can imagine the sound a pack of monkeys causes running and fighting on a tin roof, right? As an inhabitant of Lopburi, you also have to learn how to defend your belongings against monkeys. They are trying to steal everything and for sure food is their favorite loot. So if you are a street vendor selling food you better employ someone handy with a stick to watch your food stall and drive the monkeys off.
But Lopburi is more than monkeys. It has almost Angkor-Wat like Temples all around the city. These Khmer Temples are from the time before Lopburi became a part of Siam nowadays Thailand. So if you are traveling Thailand and can't make it to Cambodia, just try out Lopburi. It is not the same but definitely has a special vibe among Thailand's Temples. One of the Temples is the Monkey Temple where you will find most of them because they are fed there regularly.

THAILAND TRIP | Lopburi Day Trip | Lopburi | Thailand | November 2018

????????[ITA]
