Platz Nr. 1️⃣ SARAJEVO

Driving in Bosnia and Herzegovina: M6 & R424 from Kravica Waterfalls to Mostar

In this video you can drive along on the M6 and R-424 from Vodopad Kravica (Kravica Waterfalls) to the city of Mostar.

This was my first visit to this country and I was really amazed by the scenery and mountains. All I knew about this place before, especially Mostar, is that it was in the news a lot 20+ years ago.

Vodopad Kravica is one of many scenic and natural sights in BiH. It's a group of waterfalls and I found it to be quite similar to Croatian parks like Krka or Plitvice, just on a smaller scale. But not less beautiful. I included some drone footage for you in case you are interested.

The park is easy to reach and just off the A1 highway that connects to the border with Croatia. This is also where the highway stops for now. It's under construction and planned to bypass Mostar on the way to the capital Sarajevo.

I'm not sure if I took the fastest route to Mostar, but it's definitely one of the more scenic routes. Especially at the end as we descend towards the city. The city itself still shows the traces of war but its historical center was nicely restored.

Kravica Waterfall, Bosnia and Herzegovina | Day 6

In this Video I took a bus from Mostar Center to Ljubuški and then took a taxi to Kravica Waterfall.

Kravica Waterfall (Serbo-Croatian: Slap Kravica or Vodopad Kravica / Слап Кравица or Водопад Кравица) is a large tufa cascade on the Trebižat River, in the karstic heartland of Herzegovina in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is 10 kilometres (6 mi) south of Ljubuški and 40 kilometres (25 mi) south of Mostar. Its height is about 25 metres (80 ft) and the radius of the lake in the base of the waterfall is 120 metres (390 ft). Kravica is a popular swimming and picnic area and, during the summer, it is frequently visited by tourists.

The Kravica Falls area also has a little cafe, a rope swing, a picnic area, and a place to camp. The best time of year for visiting is during the springtime when the fall is at its fullest and the arid landscape turns a bright green. During the high season, various restaurants in the vicinity of the waterfalls mostly offer grilled dishes and fish specialties. Near the Kravica Falls is also a small grotto with stalactites made of calcium carbonate, an old mill and a sailing ship. The owner of the waterfall was a famous municipal councilor, landowner, benefactor and philanthropist from Ljubuški, Zaim-beg Selimić.

About Me:
My name is David Hoffmann and for the last decade I have been traveling around the world in search of unique culture, food and history! Since starting Davidsbeenhere in 2008, I have traveled to 71 countries and over 1,000 destinations, which I welcome you to check out on my YouTube Channel, blog and social medias.

I focus a great deal on food and historic sites, as you probably have seen! I love to experience the different flavors that each destination has to offer, whether it’s casual Street food or gourmet restaurant dining. I’m also passionate about learning the local history and culture.

Posjeta Gradskoj

Dooramoad Travels - Kravice Waterfalls - Croatia & Bosnia-Herzegovina Series Ep3

Hello and welcome to the third episode of the Croatia & Bosnia-Herzegovina Series!

In today's episode we visited the Kravice Waterfalls in southern Herzegovina. The waterfalls are a tufa cascade on the Trebižat river, on the heartland of Herzegovina. The hight of the waterfall is 25 meters and the radius of the lake below is 120 meters. It's a popular swimming and picnic area with many visitors during the summer. Near the waterfall, there is a small grotto with stalacites made out of calciumcarbonate. The owner of the waterfall was Zaim beg Selimić.
