It is a place where locals and friendly and stray cats and dogs will make you feel at home.

Welcome to Mostar! In today’s video we’re showing you around one of the great gems of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mostar was one of the many stops of our travels through the Balkans, but it ranked right at the very top! This city is as postcard-perfect as they come, complete with Ottoman constructions, soaring minarets, and colourful buildings that overlook the emerald waters of the Neretva River. Our time here was spent wandering through the markets, sampling local dishes, and visiting a few mosques and museums along the way, so come and join us in this travel guide as we show you around Mostar (Мостар) and give you a few ideas for your own trip!
This street is lined with restaurants, cafes, and hotels, but as you approach the famed Old Bridge, it turns into a bit of a bazaar with small shops that are bursting at the seams with souvenirs.
Stari Most, also known as the Old Bridge, which is the city’s main landmark. This 16th-century Ottoman bridge joins the two parts of the city across the River Neretva.
And that’s a wrap for Mostar! This was one of our favourite destinations of 2017.
With its Ottoman architectural wonders, delicious dishes served in heaping platters, and warm locals who take hospitality to a whole new level, there’s a lot to love about the city! Mostar is strikingly beautiful, but it’s the people who give the place its soul.
Yes, the city’s been through a lot, and it still bears the scars of a horrible war fought in the 90s, but Mostar has picked itself up and is showing visitors all it has to offer.

Trotz wunderschöner Altstädte und fantastischen Landschaften gilt Bosnien immer noch als weißer Fleck auf Europas Karte und das, obwohl Bosnien keine Tagesfahrt von Deutschland entfernt liegt und direkt an Kroatien grenzt.
Entdecke nun die 5 schönsten Orte Bosniens, die du auf keinen Fall verpassen solltest.
Platz Nr. 1️⃣ SARAJEVO
Für jeden, der Bosnien wirklich kennen lernen will, führt kein Weg an Sarajevo vorbei. Die bosnische Hauptstadt liegt ziemlich zentral im Herzen des Landes und gilt aufgrund der traumhaften Lage umgeben von mehreren großen Gebirgsketten und der wunderschönen Altstadt, als eine der interessantesten Städte Bosniens.
Sarajevo ist auch für seine Vielfalt an Religionen und Völkern bekannt, das fällt auch an den vielen wunderschönen alten Moscheen und Kirchen auf.
Diese sollte man bei einem Besuch auf keinen Fall verpassen.
Aufgrund seiner multikulturellen Bevölkerung wurde die Stadt auch einst als Jerusalem Europas bezeichnen. Für alle die eine Entdeckungsreise in Bosnien starten wollen ist Sarajevo genau der richtige Ort.
Platz Nr. 2️⃣ MOSTAR
Langsam fließt die Smaragdgrüne Neretva durch Mostar hindurch und teilt die Stadt in einen Christlich- und einen Muslimisch geprägten Teil, bis zu dem Punkt, an dem „Stari Most“ die Alte Brücke von Mostar, die Menschen wieder vereint.
Mostar ist die Hauptstadt und das kulturelle Zentrum der Herzegowina und bietet neben seiner wunderschönen Lage, umgeben von Bergen, eine Reihe an Sehenswürdigkeiten. Die bekannteste darunter ist natürlich die Alte Brücke, welche als Symbol der Stadt gilt und Touristen aus aller Welt anzieht.
Die Brücke, die zum Zeitpunkt ihrer Erbauung im 16.Jahrhundert, als ein Meisterwerk galt, verbindet den bosniakisch geprägten Ostteil, mit dem kroatisch geprägten Westteil, der Stadt.
Mostar ist der perfekte Mix aus Kultur und wunderschöner Natur und zaubert wirklich jedem Besucher eins Lächeln ins Gesicht.
Platz Nr. 3️⃣ KRAVICA WASSERFÄLLE
Zwischen dem Naturpark Hutovo-Blato und der Kleinstadt Ljubuški, befindet sich mit den Kravica-Wasserfällen, eines der atemberaubendsten Naturphänomene der Herzegowina.
Schon von der Straße aus kann man die Wasserfälle in einem beeindruckenden Naturpanaroma sehen. Wenn man sieht wie, sich das Wasser seinen Weg durch die dichten und weiten Wälder bahnt, könnte man fast meinen, man wäre in den Tropen.
Besonders im Sommer wird der Besucher von einem strahlenden Grün in den verschiedensten Nuancen beeindruckt sein. Die Wasserfälle erreichen eine Höhe zwischen 26 und 28 Metern und eine Breite von 120 Metern.
Das Wasser erreicht dabei selten eine höhere Temperatur als 15 Grad, was angenehm kühl ist, und eine perfekt Erfrischung für die heißen Sommer der Herzegowina bietet.
Platz Nr. 4️⃣ TREBINJE
Trebinje gilt als eine der charmantesten Städte Bosniens und bietet neben ihrem sehr angenehmen Klima, ein paar der schönsten, serbisch-orthodoxen Kirchen den Landes. So z.B: die Herzegowinische Gracanica, welcher hoch oben auf einem Felsen thront und einen fantastischen Blick auf die Stadt gewährt.
Wer auf der Suche nach mediterranem Flair ist, wird sich in Trebinje unglaublich wohl fühlen. Neben Banja Luka hat Trebinje den größten Bauboom, in den letzten Jahren erlebt.
Nach den Gründen dafür, muss man nicht lange suchen.
Denn Trebinje befindet sich in einer sehr attraktiven Lage, nur 30 km entfernt von Dubrovnik und 28 km entfernt von Montenegro.
Platz Nr. 5️⃣Počitelj
Das pittoreske Počitelj ist auch bekannt als die “Stadt aus Stein“.
Die malerische Altstadt befindet sich an einem Hang, von welchem es sich weit ins Neretva-Tal blicken lässt. Die Lage Počiteljs war damals von großer strategischer Wichtigkeit.

Počev od Jajca, koji je za mene najsadržajniji mali grad u čitavoj zemlji, zanimljivh Japodskih otoka, misterioznog Titovog bunkera u Konjicu, Banjaluke i Sarajeva, kao dva najveća grada u čitavoj zemlji, prekrasne prirode Prokoškog jezera, Trebinja, grada koji je na mene ostavio najveći utisak, naših planina, koje su sve nestvarno lijepe, vodopada, gdje bih izdvojio Štrbački buk, Nacionalnog parka Sutjeska u kojem bih mislio mogao biti danima i gdje zaista ima toliko toga da se radi, počev od prašume Perućice, jedne od najočuvanijih prašuma u Evropi, kanjona Tare, Zelengore, naše najviše planine Maglića i divnog Prijevora.

Exploring KRAVICE WATERFALL + POCITELJ in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Road Trip from SPLIT to SARAJEVO)
We take a Bosnian road trip from Split to Sarajevo, stopping at Kravice Waterfall and Pocitelj along the way.
On this episode of Mapping It, we spend a day driving from Split, in Croatia, to Sarajevo, in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Our first stop on the five hour drive is Kravice Waterfalls - a very scenic massive waterfall that you can swim at! After getting jealous at everyone swimming (because we didn’t know you could swim there, so we were unprepared), we head to the riverside town of Pocitelj.
Pocitelj was brutally destroyed during the civil war in the 1990s and then carefully rebuilt. It’s now a great example of Ottoman architecture.
We wrap up our time exploring the Bosnian countryside with a delicious meal of spit-roasted lamb at Restoran Kovacevic Jablanica.

Posjetili smo Veliku Begovaču, omiljeno mjesto livanjskih divljih konja koji ovdje često borave zbog postojanja izvora pitke vode kao i prirodne zaklonice od vremenskih nepogoda.
Livanjski divlji konji su konji koji žive na visoravni Krugu, na predjelu od Korićine do Borove glave uz planinu Cincar.
Ovo nisu izvorni divlji konji, nego su potomci domaćih konja koji su služili u poljodjelstvu. Nakon što ih je u toj ulozi potisnula mehanizacija prije pedeset godina, pušteni su na slobodu, jer više nije bilo potrebe za njima.
Unatoč nepovoljnim vremenskim uvjetima, brojnim zvijerima iz obližnjih šuma, preživjeli su zahvaljujući bogatim pašnjacima. Danas na ovom području ima oko 850 jedinki.

This spectacular sight can be seen in the proximity of Livno, a small town in the southwestern part of Bosnia & Herzegovina, not so far from the border with Croatia. The area of Livno is famous for its fascinating landscapes – lush forests in the spring and golden valleys in the summer but also for water resources, such as the largest man-made reservoir, Buško Lake. Towering above the town of Livno, plateau Kruzi, situated on the southern slope of Mt. Cincar, is home to a herd of majestic wild horses. For more than 50 years, these beautiful animals have roamed free over this plateau at 1200 m. Rich plains spread over 150 km2 offer abundant pastures for wild horses. It is believed that around 400 Bosnian mustangs gallop in this area. They love to gather between the villages Potočani and Zagoričani, some 10 km from Livno, crossing the main road M-16 in search of the grassy regions, water and salt.

Picture a blue sky, endless slopes and sparkling springs that make you think about nature's majestic and intactness. Now, imagine that a horse neighing unexpectedly breaks the silence. Suddenly, hundreds of wild horses are free-roaming on the horizon, leaving you in awe. Would you like to be teleported to such a place? Let me guess – yes, this very moment. Well, nature and animal lovers, follow me, and you will discover the wild horses of Livno and learn where to gallop with Bosnian mustangs.

The history of Livno wild horses
The origin of Livno wild horses goes back to the 1970s when agriculture mechanization took place in the Balkans. Bosnian mustangs are the offspring of the original tame horses that were kept and used in villages around Livno. Some fifty years ago, villagers freed their domesticated horses, replacing them with tractors and machinery. At that time, only a dozen horses were abandoned, but they have bred since then, in spite of cold winters, wild animals and the war in the 1990s. Only 50 wild horses survived the war, but by the time they were protected by Bosnian law (2010), there were two hundred. Having developed resistance against all weather conditions and illnesses, their number has increased to 400, and some say even 500.

Travnik and Jajce Tour - Day Trip from Sarajevo ???????? [2019 travel vlog]
Central Bosnia's towns of Travnik and Jajce are a great day trip from Sarajevo. Travnik used to be the capital of Bosnia in the Ottoman Empire, while Jajce has a great waterfall right in the middle of town!

- Ćevabdžinica Hari (best cevapi in Travnik for lunch)

???? Historic city of Mostar was an Ottoman frontier during 19th & 20th Century. This city takes you back in time and experience Ottoman architecture. We visited Old town, market and Stari bridge designed by architect Sinan during Ottoman Empire. Old Stari bridge and some areas of town were destroyed during 1990 war and was then restored and rebuilt by UNESCO.
