Lillehammer, Norway - City Tour & Drone, 4k

The city of Lillehammer is located 180 km north of Oslo on the shores of Norway's largest lake, Mjøsa. Lillehammer gained worldwide fame by hosting the 1994 Olympic Winter Games.

We will start our walk near Lillehammer Church (Lillehammer Kirke). There used to be an ancient frame church on this site, which has been mentioned since the 14th century. A new brick church was built in 1882.

Further through a cozy park, our path lies along the central pedestrian street of the city - Storgata. There are no high houses around, with beautiful wooden elements. And inside the houses, there is everything to attract tourists! Shops, craft shops, and restaurants. It's really nice to walk around here!

And now consider the main attraction of the city ski jump - Lysgårdsbakkene. It is visible from afar, and its height is 138 meters. The springboard was opened in 1993, especially for the XVII Winter Olympic Games. It was the venue for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games. It is also traditionally the venue for the ski jumping World Cup stages.

A little lower is Stampesletta, a multifunctional stadium complex. It includes Håkons Hall hockey hall, several football fields with different surfaces, and Eidsiva Arena. Eidsiva Arena has an ice skating rink, combined handball and floorball courts, and curling courts. Curling and ice hockey competitions were held here during the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games.

Next, we will visit the pearl of Lillehammer, the Maihaugen Museum. This is one of the most beautiful Norwegian open-air museums. Here are collected 200 buildings built from 1200 to the present day.

Garmo Stave Church (Garmo stavkyrkje) is one of the main attractions. In 1882, the church was dismantled and sold to Anders Sandvig, who brought it to Lillehammer, where it was rebuilt in Maihaugen in 1920-1921.

And now it's time to return to the streets of modern Lillehammer, where beautiful flowers grow, sculptures stand, and fountains murmur. The traveler's eye rejoices at the successful neighborhood of new and old styles. See for yourself these wonderful reflections of wooden houses on the wall of the Art Museum (Lillehammer Kunstmuseum).

And of course, finally, it is worth considering the city and the lake from a height. There are two automobile bridges across Lake Mjosa, along which the E6 highway and the pedestrian Vingnesbrua pass.

Since the E6 highway passes through the city, many travelers to the north of Norway pass by Lillehammer, and we invite you to take a walk around the city. And we really hope that you will like it, feel free to ask your questions and write your wishes in the comments, we are always pleased to read them!;)

BERGEN, NORWAY | Best Things To Do In & Around Bergen

The city of Bergen is located along the southwestern coast of Norway. Surrounded by mountains and fjords, it’s a haven for nature and outdoor enthusiasts. But as a UNESCO World Heritage City, Bergen also combines history, culture, and an interesting urban life. This charming city might have a small-town feel, but it has tons of entertaining activities to offer. In this video, we break down our 6 favorite things to do in and around Bergen.

???? WHERE TO STAY IN BERGEN:
- Barfot Apartments (budget option with kitchen in center of town):

6. Try the local food
Norwegian culture is highly influenced by fishing and this is also visible in their cuisine. Visit Bergen’s fish market at the waterfront and you’ll see merchants selling their fresh catch of the day as they have for centuries. Other dishes Norwegians are proud of is “boller” (sweet buns) and “Pølse” (Norwegian hot dogs).

5. Visit a museum on a rainy day
Bergen has many interesting museums that you can visit, such as the Norway Fisheries Museum, the Lepra museum, and the Bergen University Museum of Natural History.

☑️ List of more museums:

4. Day hike to highest peak in Bergen municipality
Sitting between various mountains, Bergen naturally has plenty of great hiking terrain. At 987 meters tall, Gullfjellet is the highest peak in Bergen municipality and a classic for local hikers. Located a bit outside the city, this trail feels truly remote and is a great escape. The trail starts at Osavatnet and runs past a cabin (Redningshytten) on the way to the summit. To get to the trailhead, it’s best to rent a car or combine public transportation with a taxi ride.

3. Bryggen & the Hanseatic Museum
Bryggen is one of Bergen's most iconic and popular attractions. With its vibrant atmosphere, you will find plenty of things to do. You can stroll through the narrow, crooked alleyways, grab a local beer at one of the many cafés, and learn about its historic importance at the Hanseatic Museum. A free guided tour is included when visiting the museum, during which you get to know more about the Hanseatic merchants and their daily life at Bryggen.

☑️ Book your visit:

2. Hike one of the 7 peaks
Bergen is surrounded by seven peaks, and you can hike them all! The most popular ones are Mount Fløyen and Mount Ulriken, which are easily accessible by foot or bus from the city center. Both are short but steep hikes of a few kilometers each, offering spectacular views of the city, the fjord, and the ocean from the top. There is a cable car to Ulriken and a railway to Fløyen if you don't want to hike.

1. Fjord Cruise
Norway is known for its fjords, and so is Bergen. If this is your first time in Norway, make sure to go on a day tour of the fjords. Bergen offers a wide variety of guided tours, with Mostraumen being the most popular and accessible one. During a 3 hour cruise, you will see the varied western Norway fjord landscapes, consisting of steep cliffs and waterfalls. You eventually reach the Mostraumen Strait and the tiny village of Mo!

☑️ Book your fjord cruise:

A month in the cozy Norwegian town Lillehammer - our top 5 (random) places to see. Story 13

Warning to all my subscribers, this is not one of my most scenic and well filmed videos. It gets dark around 16.00 in Norway now, and our lens could not handle the low light in this town. It is what it is. How ever I had some fun making it, so I hope you will still enjoy it.

So this past month we went out on the road again, touring with the cultural schoolbag. We have a workshop where we teach the schoolkids about plants and the knowledge our ancestors tried to pass on to us about them, that is now fading in our culture today.

This time our touring took us to the small Norwegian town Lillehammer. We stayed here for a month, in the very same hotel, going from school to school. It was very fun, even though we started to long for home in the end. Because we spent a fair amount of time wandering the town centre we decided to have some fun on the last day, and share with you (and each other) our top 5 places to see in the town centre. Lillehammer lies a few hours north of Oslo, and is a part of the traditional Norwegian region of Gudbrandsdalen. Our top 5 recommendations were just for fun, and I promise you Lillehammer has waaay more cool stuff to see and do than what we came up with here. But if you have like 5 hours to explore it, these top 5 places are actually worth stopping by.

Bobsledding in Lillehammer and Epic Norway Views | Norway Travel Vlog

Today was an epic day in Norway. We went bobsledding in Lillehammer and then hiked Rampestreken in Andalsnes.
It's time for another 4k Norway vlog. And, today's travel vlog was pretty packed with action. We left Oslo early in the morning and headed towards Lillehammer. The town of Lilliehammer was the host of the 1994 Winter Olympic Games and it is now still a bit of a tourist town. After exploring town a little bit, we headed to the bobsled track. And, for a bit of an adventure we did the bobsledding in Lilliehammer. The bobsledding was intense. We got up to g-forces over 3, and speeds of over 200 km/h. It was bumpy, and wild, and totally fun. I'd definitely like to go bobsledding again at some point.
After leaving Lilliehammer, we headed towards Andalsnes. On the way, we stopped at a really cool Norwegian Stave Church called Ringebu. And, yeah, apparently Ringebu is the actual name; despite my disbelief.
Late in the afternoon we arrived at Andalsnes which is this beautiful little town on the edge of a sharp fjord. The setting of the campground there is just unreal. It's one of the most beautiful places I've been in Norway.
Despite being extremely tired, a crew of us headed up for a hike above Andalsnes called Rampestreken. The trek takes you up near the peak of the mountain and to an insane viewing platform that reaches out into the valley. It's incredible. The hike up Rampestreken was a little bit more challenging than we expected, but we still made it up there in time for some epic light. It is incredible; even at midnight, there's still so much light and it is beautiful. The views from Rampestreken might among the most epic in Norway.
This Norway travel vlog ends there in Andalsnes.
Tomorrow, I'll be back at the 4k Norway vlogs with an episode cruising through the Troll's Pass which is supposed to be one of the most beautiful drives in the world. Stay tuned.
