New Amsterdam Travel Video- Amersfoort is a wonderful day trip from Amsterdam. The city has its origins from 1000 AD and has lots of history, dating back to the Middle Ages. It's even the birthplace of artist Piet Mondriaan. So there are lots of interesting things to see with most sites concentrated in the old city center. There you'll discover pretty canals, old houses on cobblestone streets, big churches and brick gate towers. The center is a 5-10 minute walk from the train station and you can easily find everything by walking.

Paleis Het Loo is a 300 years old palace in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands. The palace was a residence of the House of Orange-Nassau. Since 1984, the palace is a state museum open for the general public. Next to the beautiful palace are the absolutely stunning gardens. The best way is to see it from above. We took our drone for a birds eye view.

Leusden city trip #6: the oldest part of the town (Hamersveldseweg) (NL)
The main north-south route in the town of Leusden is located on the west side of the town: the Groene Zoom. We have seen this route in the second video of this series about my hometown Leusden.
The Groene Zoom was opened in the early 1980s. Before that, through north-south traffic went via the Hamersveldseweg. This road is located in the central part of the town of Leusden, starts on the north side at the Valley Canal, goes along the oldest part of Leusden (the former Hamersveld), passes the current village center and the former Amersfoort-Nijmegen railway line and finally ends at De Boom Estate.

De belangrijkste noord-zuid route in de plaats Leusden is gelegen aan de westkant van de plaats: de Groene Zoom. Deze route hebben we gezien in de tweede video van deze serie over mijn woonplaats Leusden.
De Groene Zoom is begin jaren 80 opengesteld. Daarvoor ging het doorgaande noord-zuid verkeer via de Hamersveldseweg. Deze weg ligt in het centrale deel van de plaats Leusden, begint aan de noordkant bij het Valleikanaal, gaat langs het oudste deel van Leusden (het voormalige Hamersveld), passeert het huidige dorpscentrum en de voormalige spoorlijn Amersfoort-Nijmegen en eindigt uiteindelijk bij Landgoed De Boom.

The Dutch winters are no longer very special these days: little cold and little snow. But now and then King Winter still comes out surprisingly.
This was also the case on February 7, 2021 when a cold northeasterly wind rose and a precipitation area yielded about 15 centimeters of snow. The following days the temperature dropped to -5 degrees Celsius during the day, to -10 to -15 degrees at night and the perceived temperature dropped locally to -20 degrees. Skating was possible in many places. The cold weather lasted only a week, but it had been a long time since we had experienced such a winter period.
In the video, I am driving from Leusden to Amersfoort on the morning of February 8, 2021 because of an appointment.

De Nederlandse winters zijn tegenwoordig niet meer zo heel bijzonder: weinig kou en weinig sneeuw. Maar af en toe komt Koning Winter toch nog verrassend uit de hoek.
Zo ook op 7 februari 2021 toen er een koude noordoostenwind opstak en een neerslaggebied ongeveer 15 centimeter sneeuw opleverde. De dagen daarna zakte de temperatuur overdag naar -5 graden Celcius, 's nachts naar -10 tot -15 graden en de gevoelstemperatuur zakte lokaal naar -20 graden. Op veel plekken kon er geschaatst worden. Het koude weer duurde slechts een week, maar het was lang geleden dat we zo'n winterse periode hadden meegemaakt.
In de video rijd ik op de ochtend van 8 februari 2021 van Leusden naar Amersfoort vanwege een afspraak.

Citytrip 5: Terschuur - Arkelbroek - Jannendorp - Achterveld - Snorrenhoef - Asschat - Leusden (NL)
This is the fifth video with roads in (the immediate vicinity of) my hometown Leusden. This time we start northeast of Leusden in the village of Terschuur. From Terschuur we drive southwards, passing the A1 motorway (Amsterdam - Hengelo) via a viaduct.
The area is known for its large number of streams (in the region they are called Valley Streams). The first stream we pass is the Esvelderbeek. We pass the hamlet of Kallenbroek on the west side and shortly afterwards Den Olden Florus follows, one of the oldest post mills in the Netherlands. The history of the mill goes back to the 14th century.
After the mill we drive into the hamlet of Arkelbroek. Here we pass the second stream on the route: the Barneveldsche Beek. This is also the border between the provinces of Gelderland and Utrecht.
Just after the stream we drive into the hamlet of Jannendorp, followed shortly after by Achterveld. Achterveld is a village with more than 2,600 inhabitants, making it the second largest place in the municipality of Leusden. The southern border of Achterveld is formed by the Modderbeek, the third stream on the route.
Via the hamlets of Snorrenhoef and Asschat we enter the main town of Leusden on the east side of the village. Here we pass the Valley Canal (Valleikanaal), which forms a clear eastern boundary of the village. The aforementioned streams all flow into this canal.
In Leusden we drive via the Asschatterweg to the Biezenkamp shopping center. From there it goes south to the center of the village: De Hamershof. We pass De Hamershof on the east side and via the Burgemeester van der Postlaan we reach the end point of the video at the Groene Zoom (wich we have seen in the Citytrip #2 video).

Dit is de vijfde video waarin wegen in (de directe omgeving van) mijn woonplaats Leusden aan bod komen. Dit keer starten we ten noordoosten van Leusden in het dorp Terschuur. Vanuit Terschuur rijden we zuidwaarts en passeren daarbij autosnelweg A1 (Amsterdam - Hengelo) via een viaduct.
De omgeving staat bekend om zijn grote aantal beken (in de regio worden ze Valleibeken genoemd). De eerst beek die we passeren is de Esvelderbeek. We passeren buurtschap Kallenbroek aan de westzijde en kort daarna volgt Den Olden Florus, een van de oudste standerdmolens van Nederland. De geschiedenis van de molen gaat terug naar de 14e eeuw.
Na de molen rijden we het buurtschap Arkelbroek in. Hier passeren we de tweede beek op de route: de Barneveldsche Beek. Dit is tevens de grens tussen de provincies Gelderland en Utrecht.
Vlak na de beek rijden we het buurtschap Jannendorp in, kort daarna gevolgd door Achterveld. Achterveld is een dorp met ruim 2.600 inwoners en daarmee de op een na grootste plaats in de gemeente Leusden. De zuidgrens van Achterveld wordt gevormd door de Modderbeek, de derde beek op de route.
Via de de gehuchten Snorrenhoef en Asschat rijden we de hoofdplaats Leusden binnen aan de oostkant van het dorp. We passeren hier het Valleikanaal dat een duidelijke oostgrens van het dorp vormt. De eerdergenoemde beken stromen allemaal naar dit kanaal.
In Leusden rijden we via de Asschatterweg naar winkelcentrum Biezenkamp. Vanaf daar gaat het zuidwaarts naar het centrum van het dorp: De Hamershof. We passeren De Hamershof aan de oostzijde en via de Burgemeester van der Postlaan bereiken we het eindpunt van de video ter hoogte van de Groene Zoom (die we kennen van de Citytrip #2 video).
