Il deserto del Neghev (/'nɛɡɛv/; in ebraico נגב, Negev, «Sud [di Israele]», «terra del Sud»; in arabo النقب, an-Naqb), occupa una superficie di circa 12.000 km², pari al 60% circa dello stato di Israele. Tuttavia, solo il dieci per cento circa della popolazione del paese vive in questa zona. Il Neghev è delimitato a ovest dal confine israelo-egiziano e dalla striscia di Gaza, a est dalla valle dell'Arava e a nord dalla linea Gaza-En Gedi, sulle sponde del mar Morto.
La città più grande del triangolo del Negev è Be'er Sheva, il capoluogo del distretto del Negev (circa 190.000 abitanti). Nella zona centrale del deserto, ai margini del cratere Makhtesh Ramon, sorge Mitzpe Ramon. La punta meridionale termina nelle città di Eilat sul lato israeliano e Aqaba su quello giordano. Il deserto del Negev è una parte della cintura desertica che si estende dall'oceano Atlantico all'India, la cui esistenza è dovuta, dal punto di vista climatologico, ad una cella di Hadley nell'atmosfera soprastante. È considerato la zona della superficie terrestre rimasta invariata per il periodo più lungo - circa 1,8 milioni di anni.
Il deserto della Giudea è spesso considerato erroneamente parte del Negev. Tuttavia, il deserto della Giudea deve la sua esistenza al fenomeno dell'ombra pluviometrica, mentre il deserto del Negev è un deserto arido. Il confine immaginario tra i due deserti corre approssimativamente in direzione est-ovest a nord di Arad (ma la linea di demarcazione varia a seconda dell'interpretazione degli studiosi).
Anche il confine settentrionale con la regione della Shéphélah non è ben definito. הוא כביש רוחב המתחיל במחלף להבים וחולף דרך להבים, לקיה, חורה, כסייפה וערד, ומסתיים בצומת זוהר סמוך לים המלח. אורכו כ-70 קילומטרים. הוא משמש כציר רוחב עיקרי המחבר את כביש 90 לכביש 6 לכיוון מרכז הארץ ולכביש 60 לכיוון באר שבע.

is a wide road that begins at the Lehavim interchange and passes through Lehavim, Lakia, Hura, Kassifa and Arad, and ends at the Zohar junction near the Dead Sea. It is about 70 kilometers long. It serves as the main latitude that connects Road 90 to Road 6 in the direction of the center of the country and Road 60 in the direction of Beer Sheva.

My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land.
Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity.
In order to fulfill this calling in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)
Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, glide over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water and see the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be inplanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.

על גלגלים מגישים לכם נסיעה קצרה בת כ- 13 קמ לאורך כביש 224 הקצר המהווה את החלק המערבי של כביש הנפט ההיסטורי בנגב. התחלנו בצומת הנגב שעל כביש 40 וסיימנו בצומת גבעת ירוחם שבו נפגש כביש 224 שלנו עם כביש 204 המוביל אל דימונה.

Rau würdigte in seiner Rede Walter Hesselbach, einen großen Freund Israels, der selbst als deutscher Sozialist von den Nazis verfolgt und vom Arbeitsplatz entlassen wurde, und später die Ehrendoktorwürde der Universitäten Jerusalem 1974 und Tel Aviv 1970 sowie 1980 den Golda Meir Preis erhielt.
Vor der Baumpflanzung hat Ari Rau das Wasser-Reservoir-Projekt am Yatir Wald im Negev unweit Arad gezeigt. Daraufhin gab J. Rau die Schirmherrschaft für das Reservoir-Projekt. Anschließend begleitete Lipinski Rau zur Ben Gurion Universität in Beer Schewa, wo Rau die Ehrendoktorwürde für seine Verdienste als Brückenbauer zwischen Israel und Deutschland erhielt. Diese Veranstaltungen fanden im Vorfeld seiner Wahl zum Bundespräsidenten im Mai 1999 statt. Vor der Baumpflanzung hat Ari Rau das Wasser-Reservoir-Projekt am Yatir Wald und erhielt von ihm die Schirmherrschaft für das Projekt.
Ari Lipinski war früher u.a. als Wirtschaftsberater von NRW und Johannes Rau in Israel tätig. So hat Ari z.B. Rau mit der großen NRW-Wirtschaftsdelegation bei deren Israel-Reise im März 1995 begleitet und betreut.
Ari Lipinski hält in Deutschland Vorträge über ISRAEL-Aktuell, Ökologische Innovationen aus dem Land der Bibel, Kibbuz, Die Bedeutung der Wasser-Knappheit für Israel und den Nahen Osten, Bibel-Kommentare und über besondere hebräische Erläuterungen der Thora.
