Top 10 Villages of SWITZERLAND – Most beautiful Swiss Towns – Best Places [Full Travel Guide]

Switzerland is a small country full of surprises and wonderful villages. Since decades, Switzerland has been attracting numerous tourists from allover the world. It is the Alps that fascinates most of the visitors but also the very well preserved villages. Although Switzerland is quite small, depending on the region, the villages and towns may look very different. In this video, the 10 most beautiful villages from allover the country will be presented in detail. While there may be a few that you might have heard of, there will be quite some surprises. Gruyères is THE place to experience the medieval vibes in Switzerland. The castle, the museums and furthermore the foodie world of Gruyères are really exciting to experience, do not forget to try fondue, Gruyère cheese and double cream! Zermatt is the most popular village on this list. Visit the many panoramas over the Swiss Alps, see the Matterhorn or simply explore the village of Zermatt itself! Discover the many beautiful traditional wooden houses scattered around this Swiss village! Visit what used to be the smallest municipality of Switzerland: Corippo. Corippo is located in the Valle Verzasca in Ticino. It's a wonderful village full of stone houses and very interesting: ONLY 12 people live in there! Surely, it's not crowded there. Saint-Ursanne is another medieval village; the town that could be in a fairytale. Saint-Ursanne is built along the river doubs and charms with its many medieval houses and wonderful abbey. Guarda - the town of Schellenursli - in the lower Engadin is located in the Rumantsch speaking region of Switzerland. It's far away the urban centres and very quiet. Best to visit during Summer or on Chalandamarz! Grimentz is THE stereotypical village of Switzerland. It's located up in the Swiss Alps and charms with its many traditional wooden houses. The houses are all decorated with red flowers; cheesy and alluring! Lauterbrunnen is another touristy favorite. The village is small but it's located in the Valley of 72 Waterfalls! Enjoy the scenery with its many waterfalls and greens! Do not forget to go up to Wengen and the Jungfraujoch! Epesses is located in Switzerland's wine region at lake Geneva! It's a wonderful village in the middle of the vineyards and definitely offers you enough viewpoints over the wine terraces, lake Geneva and the Swiss Alps. Stein am Rhein is also a very medieval and cultural village. The old town is perfectly preserved and charms with its many painted houses. Spectacular is the No e Wili play that is held on a 10-25 years base. Enjoy swimming in the river Rhine or dining at the Castle Hohenklingen. MORCOTE is the most beautiful Swiss village on this Top 10 list! It's located at Lake Lugano and charms with its appearance of being built at the hill. Stunning is the church Maria del Sasso, the wonder garden in the Parco Scherrer and furthermore the many viewpoints on the hill. Morcote is by the way considered not very touristy. Thus perfect to rank 1st among the Top 10 Villages of Switzerland! WATCH the ENTIRE VIDEO in 4K!

Top 10 CITIES Switzerland: Most beautiful Swiss Places – The Highlights [Travel Guide]

Switzerland is full of beautiful cities! They are urban, vibrant and very happening. Although Switzerland is a small country, the diversity among the cities is very noticeable. The architecture, the art and the culture differ a lot from city to city. You will find the cities of Switzerland by the river, lake or even in the valleys. Each city has its unique appearance as well as its hotspots and attractions of where to go to.
Sion is the capital of the very touristy canton of Valais (Wallis). Interestingly, Sion is only little known but ranks easily among the most beautiful cities of Switzerland. Sion feels like being in Italy but is a French-speaking city. Sion is vibrant, full of street art and also a foodie hub. The most remarkable however are the two castles up on the hills. Lugano is the largest city of Ticino in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. Lugano lays by the lake, surrounded by the Swiss Alps, and one can feel that Italy is quite near. Lugano charms with its many alleys, culture, lake promenade and its view points. The best view over the surrounding and the city of Lugano you can get at the Monte Brè or Monte San Salvatore. Basel is the hub for the pharmaceutical industry. Basel is an old city and full of culture. It’s important to explore the many alleys with their colorful houses, see the red city hall, the minster and cross the bridges. Basel has a strong connection to its traditions. Important to mention here are the Vogelgryff and the Morgestraich. Bern is the federal city (capital) of Switzerland and the only town that is considered UNESCO world heritage. Very typical for Bern are the many arcades and the fountains. Bern’s old city is really a highlight, thus make sure to spend here at least half a day. Neuchâtel is in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, a town that feels Mediterranean and sort of French/Italian. The highlight of Neuchâtel are the lake promenade, the graffiti alley and the collegiate church with the castle. Schaffhausen is probably the largest and best preserved old city in Switzerland. Schaffhausen’s old town charms with its colorful houses and oriel windows (balcony windows). Schaffhausen is easy to explore by walk it’s pretty much car-free. The best things to do in and around Schaffhausen are a visit to the Museum zu Allerheiligen, walking at the Vordergasse alley, going up to the Munot and seeing the nearby Rhinefalls. The Munot is a centre for culture and hosts various events. Zurich is the largest city in all of Switzerland. It’s the hub for innovation and business but at the same time is a very touristy destination. Zurich’s old city concentrates around the Limmat quay. Walk along the river Limmat, enter the many protestant churches or head up to the Lindenhof and Polyterrase to enjoy a great vista over the old city of Zurich. Zurich is modern but also very cultural; the major event being the Sechseläuten festival. Fribourg is a city on two levels. The old city of perfectly preserved and thus great to explore. Ascend the church tower of the St. Nicolas cathedral or the Loretta chapel to enjoy a brilliant vista. Fribourg city has also some similarities with Luxemburg. Solothurn is the most beautiful baroque city of Switzerland. The old town is full of beautiful houses and concentrates around the river Aare. The major landmark is the St. Urseren Cathedral that offers you a great view from its tower. Lucerne is no doubt the most beautiful of the Top 10 Swiss Cities. Lucerne has been a favorite for many tourists since it offers so many great things such as a charming river promenade along the Reuss, a great view over Lake Lucerne (Vierwaldstättersee) and the Swiss Alps and otherwise seems very inviting with its alleys and painted houses. Lucerne’s best attractions are the Jesuitenkirche, Gletschergarten museum and many more. Explore Lucerne on the water by taking a boat ride or head up to Mount Pilatus to get a perfect vista over the Swiss Alps and this old city.

Top 10 SWISS Villages - Most beautiful towns of SWITZERLAND [Full Travel Guide]

Switzerland is a rather small country but has plenty of beautiful villages. Many of them have maintained their traditional appearance, which has attracted numerous tourists from all over the world. The diversity of the Swiss villages has fascinated many visitors, whichever region you visit, the villages all look unique and different. Some people say that you only will get to feel the authentic villages, when you choose to visit one or more of the many traditional villages. But which ones are worth to visit? With this video, I proudly present you my TOP 10 MOST BEAUTIFUL VILLAGES OF SWITZERLAND for the year 2023 in detail. I am sure that you may be familiar with a few of these 10 villages, but the majority on this list will most likely be new to you! This is likely the most detailed travel guide video about Swiss villages here on YouTube! Wonderful Marthalen lays in northern Switzerland in Zürich’s wine land region. The village charms with its many wood frame houses and alleys. Marthalen is best to be visited during Spring and Summer, when the entire landscape shines in green. Nearby attractions would be the village of Rheinau with its monastery and the Rhine falls, Europe’s tallest river waterfall. Gandria in Ticino is a beautiful hanging fishing village just at the boarder to Italy. Gandria is best to be visited by boat from Lugano, Morcote or Porlezza. The village has numerous stairs and alleys and feels like a maze, quite exciting! Poschiavo is located in the Italian-speaking part of the canton of Graubünden. The village is rather large and the most alive among all of these villages on this Top 10 list. The village also has a very interesting history one can learn about in the three local museums. Lessoc is a rather secret village located in Fribourg. It’s less noticed due to the more famous nearby towns of Gruyères and Château d’Oex. Lessoc is great for those visitors who want to avoid crowds. Sonogno is the uppermost village in the very touristy Valle Verzasca. It’s very popular among Swiss and German visitors but remains rather unknown to the rest of the world. The village charms with its traditional stone houses and alleys. Albinen is the hidden gem of this list. It’s very similar to Grimentz but the core is larger and there are more details to discover. The village is very raw, alone this fact is a strong reason for anyone to come here. Albinen is best to be combined with nearby Leukerbad, the Swiss oasis of wellness. Morcote remains a favorite for anyone who loves alluring villages. It’s similar to Gandria but busier. Consider climbing the hill to enjoy a great vista down to the church. Lungern is probably the most popular village on this Top 10 villages list. Lungern has been admired for its green hills and turquoise lake, definitely a wonderful alpine oasis to visit. Iseltwald, the winner of Last years’ Top 10 villages list does not seize to amaze its visitors. The village is full of these wonderful wooden houses that well blend with the lake and the green hills. Iseltwald is great to be included into a holiday at Interlaken. The winner of this year’s Top 10 Swiss Villages is Bosco Gurin! This place remains very raw despite its incredible beauty! Bosco Gurin is the perfect serene village one would seek to find. Enjoy walking around in the many alleys, spotting the traditional stone and wooden houses and enjoy the alpine environment. Top 15 VALAIS / Wallis SWITZERLAND – Best Attractions / Places / Things to do [Travel Guide]

The Canton of Valais / Wallis is one of Switzerland’s most touristy and fascinating regions. It is well-known due to the world-famous Matterhorn, the villages of Zermatt and Saas Fee and the many other skiing resorts. However, the Canton of Valais / Wallis offers way more than these: There are plenty of other attractions such as dams, villages, mountain tops, panoramas, zip lines, lakes, funiculars, glaciers museums, thermal baths, hiking trails, bisses, castles and train lines. This video summarizes the Top 15 attractions in brief, including all the necessary information one needs when planning his/her trip to the Canton of Valais / Wallis.
A highlight is definitely Zermatt with the Gornergrat and the panorama up to the Matterhorn. Furthermore, Zermatt is a wonderful village to visit. The Aletsch Glacier is also a place one shall not miss when visiting the canton of Valais. It's the largest glacier of the Alps. Wonderful is going up to the Eggishorn for the sunrise tour in July/August. The Aletsch Glacier is going to glow in a beautiful golden color. The old town of Sion is very stunning: Italian vibes in the Canton of Valais. Very much alive and apparently a foodie lab! Thus, do not miss to take your dinner there: Hérens beef, valaisans tomatoes and apricots are local specialities. Also visit the 2 castles of Sion. The Pierre Gianadda Foundation is considered to be one of Switzerland's top museums. The museum hosts a brilliant collection of paintings (Cézanne, Picasso and Mathys), old cars and roman artifacts. A trip up to the Mont-Fort near the village of Verbier is another highlight of Valais / Wallis. The 360° panorama up there allows you to see the Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn... on your way down, better take the zip line: It's going to be very thrilling! At Martigny, you may also visit the Barryland museum. It's a foundation that takes care of the Barry dog breed; one of Switzerland's national animals. It's a very family friendly attraction. Saas-Fee is a beautiful village to visit, surely because of it's many glaciers. The Metro Alpin up to the Mittelallalin and the ice pavilion are a highlight. Take a break at the baths of Leukerbad. This is premium wellness up in the Swiss Alps! Consider bathing at the Hotels of the Thermal bath of Leukerbad village. Really nice is also the Grande Dixence dam, the largest dam of Switzerland. Very thrilling is the zipline just along the dam! The underground Lake at Saint-Léonard is considered being one of Switzerland's most unique natural treasures. It's a great attraction to visit during rainy weather. The dam at Emosson with the world's steepest funicular and the panoramic train is another hidden gem attraction of Valais. Visit it and enjoy a brilliant vista over Mont-Blanc! Relax at the Lake of Champex-Lac, one of the best lakes one could visit in Switzerland. Pure nature and few people. The Bisse de Clavau is a serene hiking trail in the middle of the vineyards above Sion. From there you may enjoy a great view over the Rhone valley and the Swiss Alps. The Stockalper palace of Brig is a place for people who love to visit medieval heritage places. It's a castle with beautiful arcardes. Not the glacier express but the steam railway train over the Furkapass are considered the most stunning trainline one can take in the canton of Valais / Wallis. Take a journey back to the past and experience what it means to travel with class! All in all, there are too many attractions in the canton of Valais: but in this video, you will see the Top 15 place / attractions that you can visit!

Top 5 Christmas Markets of Switzerland

From late November till December, Switzerland hosts plenty of fantastic Christmas markets. The tradition of Christmas roots very deeply in the Swiss culture. However, among all these many markets around in Zürich, Basel, Einsiedeln, Stein am Rhein, Lucerne, Montreux, Bern, etc.: Which ones are the most beautiful Christmas markets of Switzerland? Watch the video and get to meet the Top 5 Christmas Markets of Switzerland!
Einsiedeln - the most Christian Christmas market of Switzerland. The town of Einsiedeln is well-known for its large monastery and hosting the most beautiful church of Switzerland. The Christmas market is held only for a short time in the very beginning of December. The market concentrates around the square in front of the monastery, which provides a very authentic atmosphere. The Christmas market stretches into the old town and hosts various stalls with handmade souvenirs and foods.
Zürich - the most hip Christmas market of Switzerland. Zürich is very modern and this well reflects in its many Christmas markets. The markets are scattered throughout the city. Very important are the ones at the Bellevue and Zürich main station (Zürich HB). The market at the Bellevue is predominantly a foodie market, the one at the main station is rather traditional with many handicrafts. The Werdmühleplatz hosts the singing Christmas tree, a unique attraction! The Illuminarium is at the national museum and charms with its many lights and the light show.
Stein am Rhein - The fairytale town. The Märlistadt is not exactly a Christmas market but tries to balance between Christmas and fairytales. The opening is on December 1st and starts with a march of Trychler, a beautiful Swiss tradition. Enjoy the many performances and themes at the market and experience of the best winter fairytale / winter wonderland markets you could find in Switzerland.
Monreux - The most cheesy Christmas market. Montreux's Christmas market is by the lake promenade. Something very different and this makes the market stand out among the others! But the best of the best is the flying Santa Claus. This is what the market is the most known for! Enjoy the many stalls with finest Swiss handicraft. A perfect place to buy authentic souvenirs made with much love!
Basel - The most traditional Christmas Market. Basel's Christmas market is very traditional. The biggest attraction are though not the products the stalls are selling but rather the way the stalls have decorated themselves. Basel has very strict regulations and requires high efforts to produce an authentic christmassy atmosphere for everyone who was given the opportunity to have stall. Enjoy delicious glühwine (mulled wine), buying various handmade souvenirs and try seasonal delicassies. Among all markets, the one at Basel is the most beautiful one!

Where to find the markets?

Einsiedeln: Klosterplatz
Basel: Basler Münster (Basel Minster), Barfüesserplatz

5 Top-Rated Day Trips from Geneva | Switzerland Day Tours Guide

5 Top-Rated Day Trips from Geneva

Few cities have such a beautiful setting as Geneva, on the shores of Lake Geneva and surrounded by Alpine peaks. The possibilities for day trips include the lakeside towns and cities, where you'll find outstanding museums and romantic old lanes to stroll, and even one of Europe's most famous castles rising right out of the lake. You can ride mountain railroads and cable cars for spectacular views, visit alpine gardens, relax in a spa, or ski and return for dinner in Geneva.

Many of these day-trip destinations can be reached by the boats that ply Lake Geneva on a regular schedule. You can cruise around the lake and enjoy the scenery, hopping off the boat right in the heart of lakeside towns and cities. There is even a separate steamer stop at Chateau Chillon. As Geneva sits almost at the international border with France, it's also easy to visit the French Alps and traditional French villages. Here, recommeded five day trips from Geneva, Switzerland

1. Scenic Lake Tour
2. Château de Chillon
3. Mont Saleve
4. Chamonix and Mont Blanc
5. Annecy

Top 10 Valais / Wallis SWITZERLAND – Best of / Highlights [Travel Guide]

The Canton of Valais is one of the most visited regions in all of Switzerland. Valais is the home to the iconic Matterhorn, many beautiful villages, great viewpoints and to a fascinating culture. There are many great attractions to be visited in this wonderful canton. This video summarizes the Top ten attractions in the canton of Valais / Wallis. The Goms bridge is one of the most photographed suspension bridges of Switzerland. It is completely free to visit and perfect to combine with a visit to the villages nearby. The Goms bridge should be definitely included if you are traveling over the Furka to Zermatt. Saas-Fee, the filming location of “Last Christmas” is one of the most visited Winter villages in all of Switzerland. The town is exciting to visit during Summer and Winter. Saas-Fee is not only great for skiing but also for families, as there is a lot to do in this village. The entire village is car-free, it’s nice to roam around the many traditional houses. You can try going up to the Mittelallalin to the world’s highest located revolving restaurant, visit the ice pavilion, the largest manmade glacier cave in the world or go for a ski down hill; this during Winter and even Summer! The Gorge du Durnand is a canyon / gorge with multiple waterfalls and a steep ascent. It’s one of the most thrilling and most beautiful gorges you could visit in Switzerland, and is even very budget traveler friendly. The Lac de Tanay is one of the secret lakes in the Canton of Valais. From Miex, you need to go for a steep hike and then you will arrive at this very humble, peaceful lake Lac de Tanay. It is nicely embedded into the Swiss Alps and thus makes a perfect sanctuary. The underground Lake (Lac Souterrain) of Saint-Léonard is one of the most important wonders of nature of the Canton of Valais. The lake is 300 meters long and is the largest underground lake of Europe. This is certainly a very highlight in the Canton of Valais, but you will have to prebook your visit. The Aletsch Glacier is the largest glacier in the Canton of Wallis, Switzerland and even of the Alps! You can get brilliant views from multiple points: The Moosfluh, Bettmerhorn and the Eggishorn. The best impression would be from the Eggishorn, as from there, you will get a perfect view over the bend of the king of the Alps and you can even see the Jungfraujoch. This is also a quite cheap place to visit for budget travelers. The hiking trail along the Bisse du Milieu and Bisse Vieux of Nendaz is a great and totally free attraction for anybody who loves to connect to nature. These hiking trails are so refreshing, which is why they are often called healing trails. In here, you can experience true beauty, perfect for budget traveling in Switzerland. The Mont-Fort at Verbier offers you a 360° panorama over the Swiss Alps as well as the Alps of France and Italy. You can see the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc, two important summits of the Alps. Try out the zipline, the highest located zipline in Europe; it’s going to be thrilling and pure adrenaline! Zermatt is always a favorite destination in the Canton of Wallis. You will get many great views over the Matterhorn from the Gornergrat, Rothorn, Kleinmatterhorn and the village itself. Zermatt’s village is touristy but also traditional and relaxing. Visit the ice cave at the Kleinmatterhorn or go for the 5 lakes hike. There is surely more than enough to do up there! Grimentz is no doubt the most beautiful village in the Canton of Valais and one of the best Swiss villages overall. Grimentz is traditional, full of wooden houses and just very stereotypically Swiss! Walk in the many beautiful alleys and immerse yourself into this wonderful alpine village!
