The Würzburg witch trials, which occurred between 1626 and 1631, are one of the largest peace-time mass trials. In Würzburg, under Bishop Philip Adolf an estimated number between 600 and 900 alleged witches were burnt. In 1631, Swedish King Gustaf Adolf invaded the town and plundered the castle.

Lauda-Königshofen is a town in the Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is situated on the river Tauber, 7 km southeast of Tauberbischofsheim, and 30 km southwest of Würzburg. Most of the roughly 300 houses in the traditional village of Königshofen date to between the 16th century and mid-19th century, and it is known for the 500+ year-old Königshöfer Messe, an annual festival that attracts 150,000 people over the 10-day festival. Lauda station is at a junction of the Franconia Railway and the Tauber Valley Railway.

Tauberbischofsheim über der Tauberbrücke ist ein in der Kernstadt Tauberbischofsheim aufgegangener Wohnplatz im Main-Tauber-Kreis im fränkisch geprägten Nordosten Baden-Württembergs.
Der in der Kernstadt Tauberbischofsheim aufgegangene Wohnplatz umfasst die Häuser auf der rechten Seite der Tauber.

Вопреки внушительному названию Таубербишофсхайм – город маленький и малоизвестный. Здесь не происходило ни важных сражений, ни великих открытий. Одни едут ради того, чтобы увидеть хорошо сохранившуюся историческую часть, другие – ради гастрономических впечатлений, ну а третьим интересны многочисленные замки в окрестностях.
Поселение в долине реки Таубер ведёт свою историю с VIII столетия. Начало ему положил женский монастырь, основанный епископом Бонифацием в 735 году. Первой аббатисой стала родная сестра проповедника. До наших дней дошло одно из зданий монастырского комплекса, в котором сегодня работает мэрия.
Любопытно, что в Таубербишофсхайме весьма трепетно относятся к спорту. В 11 секциях местного спортклуба занимается каждый шестой житель города (всего более двух тысяч человек)! А нынешний глава МОК, бывший фехтовальщик Томас Бах является почётным гражданином Таубербишофсхайма. Поддерживать здоровый образ жизни горожанам и гостям города помогают более 200 километров пешеходных и велосипедных троп, которые проложены в окрестностях Таубербишофсхайма. Таубербишофсхайм – одно из тех мест, которое несмотря на скромные размеры, умеет порадовать жадных до впечатлений туристов. И он стоит того, чтобы включить его в маршрут путешествия по южной части Германии.

A Visit to Frickenhausen am Main, Germany
Frickenhausen am Main is a small town South-East of Wurzurg in Germany.
I spent just one night in Frickenhausen am Main as I was looking for a quiet and peaceful place to stay after exploring Wurzburg.
The small town is located right on the Main River and is easily accessed by a local highway that runs right through the heart of the town.
There are a few small hotels and a couple of different restaurants in Frickenhausen am Main and along with the wineries nearby it's a nice place to spend a day or two just relaxing and enjoying the weather.
I stayed at the Hotel Weingut Meintzinger and I would definitely recommend checking it out if you're going to be in the area.
The town is quite nice with a few defensive towers and other structures still remaining. There is a lovely walkway along the river and you can still spot some medieval timber framed buildings as well.
