Spreewald which is also known as green Venice of Germany, is a German Biosphere reserve by UNESCO near Berlin. This place is perfect for kayaking, camping, hiking or cycling. It feels like entering a village that exits only in dreams. Spreewald is a devilish masterpiece to visit where the forest reflects in water. Its unique landscape, silence, fresh air, small canals, forests, ancient wooden houses, flower gardens are just breathtaking.

Magdeburg is a central German city on the Elbe River. In the city center, the Gothic-style Magdeburg Cathedral is the burial place of the Holy Roman emperor Otto the Great. The Museum of Cultural History details the city’s medieval importance with exhibitions on archaeology and local history. Kloster Unser Lieben Frauen, a Romanesque monastery complex, is home to a contemporary art gallery and sculpture park.
One of the oldest cities in Germany’s eastern federal states, Magdeburg is 1,200 years old and was once a member of the Hanseatic League of merchant cities. In the 10th century Magdeburg was the residence of Holy Roman Emperor Otto I, and his tomb is in the astonishing cathedral. That monument was the first example of Gothic architecture in Germany and warrants as much as half a day if you love Medieval art.
Magdeburg is also the country’s second greenest city and even though it has been repeatedly visited by war it has been carefully rebuilt every time. Today, Magdeburg has modern wonders like a 60-metre wooden tower built for the millennium, the final project by architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser and Europe’s largest canal underbridge.
Magdeburg cathedral’s present appearance dates to the 13th century when the worldly Prince Archbishop, Albert I of Käfernburg adopted the new French Gothic style. Kloster Unser Lieben Frauen is an 11th-century Romanesque monastery is the rousing backdrop for a contemporary art museum.
Jahrtausendturm is a shaped like an irregular cone, this edifice in the Elbauenpark was built for the new millennium and at 60 metres high is one of the tallest wooden buildings in the world. Rotehorn Park is the largest park in the city takes up most of the Werder river island on the Elbe and is billed as one of Germany’s loveliest English landscape parks.
Funded by the city’s merchants around the 10th century, the Johanniskirche is no longer a consecrated church, and is instead used as a concert hall, museum and convention centre. Grüne Zitadelle von Magdeburg, The Green Citadel is the work of the rebellious Friedensreich Hundertwasser and was his final project before he passed away in 2000. Making liberal use of colourful ceramic tiles, the complex is a mixed-use development home to shops, a cafe, a restaurant, a theatre, hotel, children’s playground and residential space.
The Magdeburg Water Bridge had been in the pipeline for more than a century, but plans were scrapped because of war and Germany’s division. Between Breiter Weg and Jakobstraße, the city’s marketplace has existed since the time of Bishop Wichmann von Seeburg in the 12th century.
Also on east side of Alter Markt, just in front of the town hall is a statue in place since at least 1240. The equestrian sculpture is believed to represent Otto I, who is buried at Magdeburg cathedral. The Magdeburger Reiter is presented in the Kaiser-Otto-Saal in its original un-gilded form.
The Faunenbrunnem is a fountain designed by the Magdeburg sculptor Heinrich Apel, who crafted the model in 1976, ten years before it was cast in Lauchhammer and Rostock. On the right bank of the Elbe is a park that has been attracting guests since the 17th century when an inn, called the Herrenkrug was built by the river.
In parkland on the Elbe is an octagonal defensive tower more than 20 metres high and dating to the 13th century. The city’s zoo opened in 1950 and since reunification has been given a host of updates. The Elberadweg is almost 1,000 kilometres long, and starts in Prague, ending at the Elbe’s mouth in Cuxhaven on the North Sea.

Lübbenau is located in the center of the Spreewald and is the starting point for many canoe tours. On our 1st walk in Lübbenau, we visited the Lübbenau Castle Park and almost reached the Nicolaikirche, who are the patrons of the von Lienar dynasty.
Our 2nd walking tour through Lubbenau starts from the church of St. Nicholas, goes through the whole old town of Lubbenau and ends behind the ancient gate, which used to be part of the fortress wall!

So men in tears, whom through the years, had tended to the beast
must watch in awe, the monsters fall, and imports from the East.
And now it’s gone except a few sad objects sat in grime,
like trophies from a monster slain, long dead before its time.

Spreewald Boat Ride Germany 4K
The Spreewald is the natural river branch of the Spree, which has been significantly expanded by landscaped canals and touristic an absolute highlight in East Germany for recreation seekers and day trippers. From the ferry port in Lübbenau you can undertake a variety of barge tours. We decided to take a two-hour tour over the small town of Lehde. This time I had my Gopro with me and would like to briefly give a few impressions of the boat.

Spreeweltenbad:
Berliner Schloss - Portal III an der Westseite ist jetzt vollendet
Fast 10 Jahr hat es gedauert, aber seit April 2023 ist das mächtige Portal III, das sogenannte Eosanderportal an der Westseite des Berliner Schlosses vollendet.
Nachdem die Reliefplatten befestigt worden waren, wurde zuletzt die Große Wappenkartusche angebracht und der Adlerorden angehängt.
In diesem Video kann man das Ergebnis sehen und ich gehe auch auf die Geschichte des von Johann Friedrich Eosander entworfenen Portals ein, dass dem römischen Septimus-Severus-Bogen nachempfunden ist und anschließend zweimal umgestaltet wurde.

Wieso hat es 65 Jahr nach seinem Tod gedauert, bis ein Denkmal für Friedrich II. in Berlin errichtet wurde? Warum wurde aus Friedrich dem Großen Friedrich der Versteckte? Welche weiteren Ideen gab es für ein Denkmal? Wie wird er dargestellt? Auf welchem Pferd reitet er? Welche Personen umgeben ihn? Wann kehrte das Reiterstandbild von Friedrich II. an die Straße Unter den Linden zurück?
Bei einem Stadtrundgang durch Berlins historische Mitte kommt man automatisch am Reiterstandbild von Friedrich II. vorbei. Entworfen von Christian Daniel Rauch gilt das Denkmal, bei dem Friedrich den Große als Alter Fritz dargestellt wird, als das Hauptwerk der Berliner Bildhauerschule.
15 Jahre hat es gedauert, alle Figuren und Teile zu planen und zu gießen. Das Denkmal ist sehr detailreich, was aber nicht immer leicht zu erkennen ist, wenn man unten vor dem 13,5 hohen Denkmal steht. Von daher habe ich in diesem Video versucht, auch die oberen Ebenen aus der Nähe zu zeigen, und natürlich die Fragen zu beantworten.

Im kleinen Dorf Wolletz in der Uckermark hat der Konsum sogar am Wochenende geöffnet. Es gibt Burger, leckeren Kuchen und immer ein freundliches Wort. Der alte Konsum ist heute ein Café und sehr beliebt bei Einheimischen und Besuchern.
Einen Sommer lang waren drei Kamerateams in Brandenburg unterwegs – vom Beetzsee bis nach Oderberg, von Bad Liebenwerda bis nach Alt Ruppin. Hier wurde Anfang August zum 100. Mal Sommerkarneval gefeiert. Ein tolles Fest mit bunten Booten und vielen Besuchern.
100xBrandenburg zeigt 100 schöne, außergewöhnliche und verrückte Orte in der Mark. Wir besuchen den kleinen Japanischen Garten in Bartschendorf (Prignitz), die traditionsreiche Kunstgießerei in Lauchhammer und den Rothsteiner Felsen nicht weit von Uebigau-Wahrenbrück. „Unser Hochgebirge“ sagen die Brandenburger zu ihrem Felsen. Heute ist er ein Kletterparadies.
Viele Einheimische und Prominente erzählen von ihrem Brandenburg. Mit dabei sind unter anderem Schauspielerin Susanne Bormann, Naturschützer Matthias Freude, Musiker Niclas Freese, die rbb Moderatoren Sabine Dahl (rbb24 Inforadio), Andreas Jacob (Heimatjournal) und Gerald Meyer (Brandenburg Aktuell) sowie Historiker Alexander Schug, der am liebsten mit seinem Hund in Brandenburg unterwegs ist.

Ein 1km Flug über den zu Lauchhammer gehörenden Grünewalder Lauch. Vom Strand auf der Seite Gorden/Staupitz hinüber zum Hauptstrand auf der Grünewalder Seite.
Der Grünewalder Lauch entstand durch die Flutung eines ehemaligen Tagebaus. Seit 1976 ist es ein Badesee. Angeblich befindet sich noch immer ein Bagger auf dem Grund des Sees.
Blue Wonder (D) / Modrý zázrak
The industrial monstrosity known as Bagger 258 is a colossal mining machine built in the former DDR. Bagger 258 is a bucket wheel excavator, or “schaufelradbagger,” built by the heavy machinery company Lauchhammer. First put to use in East Germany in 1964, Bagger 258 was one of a series of such machines whose task was to assist in intensive mining operations.
Its blue paint job (now chipped and fading) had once earned it the nickname “Blue Wonder”.
This motorised excavator featured a total of 10 blades, cutting to a depth of 15m into the earth as it removed spoil from the layers of coal beneath. The buckets, each designed with a capacity of roughly 1,500m³, would also collect a thin layer of coal during the process. This was sifted mechanically and diverted to feed the machine’s coal-burning engines.
With a length of 171.5m and reaching a height of 50m, the 3850-tonne Bagger 258 rather resembles a factory; although this factory was mounted onto tank-like tracks and able to move at a speed of six metres per minute.
Bagger 258 was abandoned in 2002, for no better reason than that it had simply run out of things to dig.
Ocelové monstrum známé jako „Modrý zázrak“ (oficiálně bagr 258), byl kolosální důlní velkostroj postavený v bývalé NDR. Jedná se o kolesové rypadlo, v němčině schaufelradbagger, postavené strojírenskou společností Lauchhammer a poprvé použité ve východním Německu v roce 1964.
Přezdívku Modrý zázrak rypadlo získalo díky svému typickému zbarvení, které je k dnešnímu dni již poněkud vybledlé.
Rypadlo s výkonem 1,500 m³ materiálu za hodinu, bylo vybaveno otočným ramenem kolesa a osazeno celkem deseti korečky s možnosti zářezu až do hloubky 15 m. Sloužilo k odstraňování vrstev hlušiny při povrchové těžbě hnědého uhlí a také k přímé těžbě tenčích vrstev uhlí. S délkou 171.5 m, výškou 50 m a hmotností 3 850 tun připomíná spíše továrnu; i když továrnu mobilní, protože celý velkostroj byl schopen se pohybovat rychlostí až šest metrů za minutu.
Rypadlo bylo opuštěno roku 2002.

The Largest Conveyor Bridge In The World / Reclining Eiffel Tower / Overburden Conveyor Bridge F60
F60 is the series designation of five overburden conveyor bridges used in brown coal (lignite) opencast mining in the Lusatian coalfields in Germany. They were built by the former Volkseigener Betrieb TAKRAF in Lauchhammer and are the largest movable technical industrial machines in the world. As overburden conveyor bridges, they transport the overburden which lies over the coal seam. The cutting height is 60 m, hence the name F60. With a length of 502 m, it is described as the lying Eiffel tower. In total, the F60 is up to 80 m high and 240 m wide. In operating condition, it weighs 13,600 metric tons.
There are still four F60s in operation in the Lusatian coalfields today: in the brown coal opencast mines in Jänschwalde (Brandenburg, near Jänschwalde Power Station), Welzow-Süd (Brandenburg, near Schwarze Pumpe Power Station), Nochten and Reichwalde (Saxony, both near Boxberg Power Station). The fifth F60, the last one built, is in Lichterfeld-Schacksdorf and is accessible to visitors.
Technology
The F60 has two bogies (chassis with wheels), one on the dumping side (front) and one on the excavating side (back), which each run on two rails (standard gauge). In addition to the two rails on the excavating side, there are another two rails for the transformer and cable cars. There are a total of 760 wheels on the bogies, of which 380 are powered. The maximum speed of the F60 is 13 m/min (0.78 km/h) and the operating speed is 9 m/min (0.54 km/h).
The F60 has two excavators of type ES 3750 on the sides to do preparatory work (see the panoramic photograph from the Jänschwalde mine), one each on the northern and southern crosswise conveyor. They each have an output of 29,000 m³/h (50,000 t), which corresponds to a volume the size of a soccer field with a depth of 7--8 m. There are nine various overburden conveyor belts with a speed of 10 m/s.
The F60, including the two excavators, requires 27,000 kW of power. The bridge needs 1.2 kWh of electricity to convey a cubic metre of overburden, from the crosswise conveyors up to the dumping at a height of 75 m.
The Lichterfeld F60

The overburden conveyor bridge of Lichterfeld-Schacksdorf, now shut down, was used from 1991 until 1992 in the brown coal mine Klettwitz-Nord near Klettwitz. It is open for visitors today as a project of the Internationale Bauausstellung Fürst-Pückler-Land (International Mining Exhibition Fürst-Pückler-Land) and is an anchor of the European Route of Industrial Heritage (ERIH).
This F60 is the last of five F60s. The installation was carried out between 1988 and 1991 in the Klettwitz-Nord opencast mine. The F60 began operation in March 1991. Between its commission and its shutting down in June 1992, it moved around 27 million cubic meters of overburden. After the German reunification, the mine became the responsibility of the Lausitzer und Mitteldeutsche Bergbau-Verwaltungsgesellschaft (Lusatian and Middle-German Mining Administrative Society, LMBV), which closed the mine on the orders of the German federal government and renovated it economically and in a way not harmful to the environment.
Between 2000 and 2010, the Internationale Bauausstellung Fürst-Pückler-Land is pursuing the goal of giving new momentum to the region and the former opencast mine of Klettwitz-Nord has also been integrated into that concept. The mine has been converted into a 'visitors' mine' and the conveyor bridge has been accessible since 1998. Various sound and light installations help make the facility an attraction for visitors.

Some history:
The briquette factory was built from 1912 to 1918. In 1913 she was put into operation. The brown coal came from the neighboring open pit Witznitz. From its commissioning to decommissioning in 1992, 38 million tons of briquette were produced. Also, electric power was generated for the factory, the open pit and the land network. When the decommissioning took place in 1992, the control room of the former factory was renovated by the Augsburger Gesellschaft für Lehmbau, Bildung und Arbeit Leipziger Land e.V. at the end of the 90s. This refurbished section will be reused for events such as rock and classical concerts.
