Papua New Guinea & Solomon Islands Travel Guide

Papua New Guinea is an island nation in Oceania. A country of immense cultural and biological diversity, it’s known for its beaches and coral reefs. Inland are active volcanoes, granite Mt. Wilhelm, dense rain forest and hiking routes like the Kokoda Trail. There are also traditional tribal villages, many with their own languages.

Papua New Guinea is just to the south of the equator and has a tropical climate. In the highlands, though, temperatures are distinctly cool. The (very) wet season runs from about December to March. The best months for trekking are June to September.

The Solomon Islands, a nation of hundreds of islands in the South Pacific, has many WWII-era sites. Guadalcanal, a province and one of the archipelago’s largest islands, honors fallen Allied soldiers at its U.S. War Memorial. Guadalcanal is also home to the nation’s capital, Honiara, whose bustling Central Market showcases the islands’ produce and traditional handicrafts.

Honiara, on the island of Guadalcanal, is the capital city of the Solomon Islands. Its buzzing Central Market sells local produce and handicrafts. Traditional frescoes adorn the conical National Parliament building. The National Museum has WWII relics and cultural artifacts. The Botanical Gardens includes an orchid house. Outside the city, the waters of the Mataniko Falls thunder down a rocky cliff into a canyon.
The American War Memorial has descriptions on marble slabs of local battles fought during the Guadalcanal Campaign of WWII. Built by Japanese veterans, the Solomons Peace Memorial Park commemorates those who died. West of the city, Vilu War Museum has memorials and WWII aircraft. Nearby, Bonegi Beach, with 2 sunken wartime vessels, is a popular site for diving and snorkeling. East, Bloody Ridge is a hill defended by U.S. troops against the Japanese in 1942. It has a small, pyramid-shaped U.S. memorial. With views over the area, nearby Mount Austen was a strategic WWII site.

Port Moresby is the sprawling capital of Papua New Guinea, a country north of Australia. The vast anthropological collection at the PNG National Museum and Art Gallery includes masks and carved wooden poles. Nearby, Parliament House is modeled on a traditional house of worship. Its entrance is dominated by a large, colorful mosaic featuring national motifs. There are views over Port Moresby Harbour from Paga Hill.
Nearby traditional villages include Koki, built on stilts in a bay. To the north, Port Moresby Nature Park combines botanical gardens, featuring many orchids, with a zoo housing tree kangaroos, parrots and reptiles. The Bomana War Cemetery holds the graves of many Papua New Guinean, Australian and other soldiers who died during WWII. Hikers are drawn to Varirata National Park in the east, with its resident wallabies and birds of paradise. Nearby, the town of Sogeri is at one end of the long, mountainous Kokoda Track, which passes through dense rainforest. Diving is popular on coral reefs off the coast.

Conflict Islands Papua New Guinea - Panasesa Island, Conflict Group of Islands

The Conflict Islands was our last port of call on our fabulous PNG adventure. The Conflict Group of islands is made up of 21 untouched and mainly uninhabited islands making this probably one of the most idyllic places on the planet. Our home for the day was Panasesa Island with pristine clear waters and beautiful white sand.

No cash is accepted on the island but you can use your credit card with the vendors that set up for the day selling food, drinks and souvenirs. You can also hire snorkeling equipment and watercraft such as glass bottom kayaks and the like.

My experience visiting BGC Manila Philippines ????????

It is finally time to head over to the amazing BGC, Bonifacio Global City in the modern area of Manila Philippines! I wanted to take the public transportation to show you the experience, but I unfortunately had some misunderstandings and ended up taking the wrong means of transportation which made my journey to get there take longer than it would have taken me if I walked. Once I finally made it down there, it was night time but I made the best of the experience to share with you all the beautiful New York-like-time square area and then go for the best burger I have had in Asia!!!

ISTANBUL TURKEY: TOP 21 UNMISSABLE Things To Do (MUST Watch Before Visiting!!!)

Istanbul Turkey: Top 21 Unmissable Things to do (Must watch before visiting!!!)

In this video, I share with you the top 21 things to do when in Istanbul Turkey. This is as close one can get to a full travel guide when in Istanbul, Turkey for at least one week.

Istanbul is a city that has so much to offer and if it is visited properly, it is unforgettable.

I begin this video by sharing my visit to Taksim Square and Istiklal Street. The first time I walked on Istiklal Street was quite memorable for me as I was impressed by how much there is to see in terms of shops, particularly food places.

After walking this street, the Galata Tower will appear and it is an absolute must-see if you are in Istanbul because of the fact that it is among the first landmarks you'll see when watching any video or viewing any photos of Istanbul. It is 1,000 years old and the views from above are spectacular.

Another great place I found was Balat. This is a special neighborhood where you can see colorful houses. It's just a nice spectacle and the area is surrounded by trendy cafes and restaurants.

When in Balat, I highly recommend you go and visit the tomb of the legendary Yavuz Sultan Selim's (Selim I) tomb and mosque. Sultan Selim I was the 9th Sultan (King) of the Glorious Ottoman Empire and the First among the Ottoman Sultans who became the Caliph of the entire Muslim world in the early part of the 16th Century. His Mosque is exquisitely designed and the views from up there are wonderful as the entire complex is built upon a hill.

Now if you are in Istanbul for only 3 days, it may be a good idea to stay in Fatih District because you can easily access the Basilica Cistern, Grand Bazaar, Sultan Ahmet/Blue Mosque, Topkapi Museum and the Byzantine Hippodrome as these are all within walking distance.

I highly recommend spending time at the Topkapi Palace Museum as it was used by the earlier Sultans of the Ottoman Empire when they moved to Istanbul after the Conquest of Constantinople in 1453. You can visit this palace and see incredible exhibits, rooms, and structures. The Topkapi Harem requires an additional ticket but it's well worth buying

Another good palace to visit is the Dolmabahce Palace, which was built around 400 years after Topkapi Palace and is another incredible palace as well as a museum to view.

Eyup Sultan's tomb and Cami is a must-see place because the tomb is occupied by the blessed companion of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, Sayyidina Ayub al Ansari رضي الله عنه

The mosque of Eyup Sultan رضي الله عنه is immensely impressive and you can easily use the cable cars near to the tomb to get up to Pierre Loti Hill to get great views from above.

Rumeli Fortress is also an interesting place to visit because it was built a year before the Ottomans took Constantinople in 1453 and this fortress played a key role in achieving victory.

The Aya Sofia is also in the Fatih District and it's one of the greatest houses of worship and mosque you'll ever visit. This house of worship was first built by Prophet Suleiman/Soloman عليه السلام

I highly recommend everyone to visit the blessed tombs and mosques of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and Fatih Sultan Mehmet (Mehmed the Conqueror) as these are very significant kings among the 36 Sultans from the Ottomans.

Also, to learn more about the Ottomans, do take a look at this channel: @RoyalOttomanSociety

I also share a couple of cafes and a restaurant in this video as Turkish food is renowned around the world.

Ukraine:
Ukraine is a country in Eastern Europe. It is the second-largest country in Europe after Russia, which it borders to the east and north-east.
located on the Dnieper River in north-central Ukraine.

A fully independent Ukraine emerged only late in the 20th century, after long periods of successive domination by Poland-Lithuania, Russia, and (U.S.S.R.). Ukraine had experienced a brief period of independence in 1918–20, but portions of western Ukraine were ruled by Poland, Romania, and Czechoslovakia in the period between the two World Wars, and Ukraine thereafter became part of the Soviet Union S.S.R. declareds overeignty (July 16, 1990) and then outright independence (August 24, 1991), a move that was confirmed by popular approval in a plebiscite (December 1, 1991). With the dissolution of the U.S.S.R. in December 1991, Ukraine gained full independence. The country changed its official name to Ukraine, and it helped to found the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), an association of countries that were formerly republics of the Soviet Union.

LA VIGIE PARAMIN LOOKOUT PARAMIN TRINIDAD and Tobago Caribbean 5.3K JBorde.com

LA VIGIE is located in a mountain village named PARAMIN. This village is located on the island of Trinidad and within the country TRINIDAD and Tobago. This new tourist site is a great place to have a look at the beauty of the island of Trinidad. What was particularly interesting about this site was the helpfulness of the staff / security. They were all pleasant and seemed to be trained in customer service. As usual, as we always do here on JB's Man Cave, I will show you the raw of it so you can feel as though you were there. In the past, visiting this part of Paramin meant that you were limited in what you could view as bush, grass and trees blocked everything. However, since the upgrades and landscaping it is now a great place to bring the family as well as tourists. It is a pity that not all out tourist sites are this well maintained.
