Der Bau der Festung von Lappeenranta, in Finnland begann 1649 mit Gründung der Stadt.
Die Festung liegt am Hafen und man wollte so den Teerhandel schützen, denn Lappeenranta war damals das Zentrum für Teerhandel und ein lebhafter Marktplatz.
Zu Beginn der russischen Herrschaft hatte die Stadt ein oft wechselndes russisches Grenzregiment. Die Festungsstrukturen von Lappeenranta wurden bereits in den 1750er Jahren in Anlehnung an die Schweden renoviert. In den 1790er Jahren wurde die Ausrüstung des Forts unter der Leitung von Graf Suvorov verbessert. Die im Zusammenhang mit dem Gustav-Krieg errichtete Saimaa-Flotte machte ein Drittel der Garnison von Lappeenranta aus.
Während der russischen Garnison wurde in der Festung die Kirche zum Schutz der Muttergottes errichtet. Sie wurde 1785 fertiggestellt. Sie ist die älteste orthodoxe Kirche in Finnland.
Zu den Gebäuden der Festung gehören das South Karelia Museum, das Lappeenranta Art Museu, das Kehruuhuone Kultur- und Veranstaltungszentrum, das Majurska Cafe und das Kavalleriemuseum. Das neueste Gebäude in der Festung ist das 1972 erbaute regionale Sendehaus Yleisradio.
Früher fand auf dem Gelände der Festung und ihrer Umgebung Ende Juli das Stadtfest „Festungsnacht“ statt. In den Jahren 2013–2015 wurde das Rakuuna Rock Festival in der Festung organisiert.

Sightseeing in Finland - Lappeenranta, the fortress in autumn 4K
Construction of the Lappeenranta Fortress in Finland began in 1649 with the founding of the city.
The fortress is located on the harbor and was intended to protect the tar trade, as Lappeenranta was the center of the tar trade and a lively market place at the time.
At the beginning of Russian rule, the city had an often changing Russian border regiment. Lappeenranta's fortification structures were renovated in the style of the Swedes as early as the 1750s. In the 1790s, the fort's equipment was improved under the direction of Count Suvorov. The Saimaa fleet, established in connection with the Gustav War, made up a third of Lappeenranta's garrison.
During the Russian garrison, the Church of the Protection of the Mother of God was built in the fortress. It was completed in 1785. It is the oldest orthodox church in Finland.
Fortress buildings include the South Karelia Museum, Lappeenranta Art Museu, Kehruuhuone Culture and Events Center, Majurska Cafe and the Cavalry Museum. The newest building in the fort is the Yleisradio regional broadcasting house, built in 1972.
In the past, at the end of July, the town festival “Fortress Night” was held on the site of the fortress and its surroundings. In 2013–2015, the Rakuuna Rock Festival was organized in the fortress.

With approximately 73,000 inhabitants (31 December 2021) Lappeenranta is the 13th largest city in Finland. Lappeenranta is known as a summer city, mostly due to its closeness to the Lake Saimaa, Europe's 4th largest lake.
The Fortress of Lappeenranta once formed part of a defence system that also included the fortress of Suomenlinna in Helsinki and the fortress of Hamina. The Fortress of Lappeenranta was born and built squeezed between east and west. For centuries, Sweden-Finland and Russia fought against each other. The Fortress of Lappeenranta was constructed as a border fortress after the treaty of Nystad in 1721 when Lappeenranta became the easternmost town of Sweden, and the fortification works were initiated.

Lappeenranta in Finnland: Dezemberfreuden aus der Luft mit der Drohne
Aufgrund meiner Weihnachtseinkäufe habe ich Lappeenranta in Finnland besucht. Es war relativ warm für den Winter mit nur -2°C. Wie immer hatte ich meine Drohne dabei und filmte einen Teil der Stadt, beginnend bei der Festung und dem Hafen. Die Marienkirche und auch den Weihnachtsmarkt gibt es ebenso zu sehen.
In meinem anderen Video, was ihr im Anschluss vorgeschlagen bekommt, könnt ihr mich in das weihnachtliche Einkaufszentrum Iso Kristiina und den Weihnachtsmarkt begleiten.
