Views of Lazio II【Flying Over Italy】Drone 4K - Scenic Relaxation

???????????????????? ???????????????? ???????????????????? ???????? ???????? ???????????????????? - ???????????????????? ???????? ???????????????????? - ???????????????????????? ???????????????? ???????????????????? series.
A scenic relaxation film showing some of the beauties of this region. There isn't only Rome :)

Lazio is an ordinary-statute region of central Italy, with Rome as its capital. With 5.700.000 inhabitants it is the second most populated region in Italy after Lombardy, and the ninth by extension of the surface.

It borders to the north-west with Tuscany, to the north with Umbria, to the north-east with the Marche, to the east with Abruzzo and Molise, to the south-east with Campania, to the west it is bathed by the Tyrrhenian Sea . Inside there is the small enclave of the Vatican City.

In a historical and geographical sense, Lazio itself is only the territory between the lower course of the Tiber river and the Ausoni Mountains, near Terracina, and the central Apennines as the eastern limit.

???????????????? ????????????????????????
???????????????????? ????????????????????????????
The first human settlement on the shores of Lake Albano is a pile-dwelling village found in 1984 with the recent phenomenon of the lowering of the water on the north shore of the lake.
Known as Villaggio delle Macine, due to some stone millstones found there, its dating ranges from the 20th-19th century BC, up to the Middle Bronze Age (17th-16th century BC).

The village could be traced back to the urban structure of the mythical Latin metropolis - in the etymological sense - of Alba Longa, razed to the ground by the Romans around the 6th century BC, according to tradition by Tullo Ostilio.

???????????????????? ????????????????????
In Roman times it was known as Albanus Lacus and lay not far from the ancient city of Alba Longa.
With a depth of about 170 m (560 ft), Lake Albano is the deepest in Lazio. The lake is 3.5 km (2.2 mi) long by 2.3 km (1.4 mi) wide, and was formed by the overlapping union of two volcanic craters, an origin indicated by the ridge in its center, which rises to a height of 70 m (230 ft).

Plutarch reports that in 406 BC the lake surged over the surrounding hills, despite there being no rain nor tributaries flowing into the lake to account for the rise in water level.
The ensuing flood destroyed fields and vineyards before eventually pouring into the sea.

It is thought to have been caused by volcanic gases, trapped in sediment at the bottom of the lake and gradually building up until suddenly releasing, causing the water to overflow.

???????????????????????????????? ????????????????????????
Around 395 BC, during the wars between Rome and Veii, a discharge tunnel was built.
It served as an emissary whenever the water level overflowed its mouth.
According to Titus Livius, this feat of engineering was incited by the Oracle of Delphi: the Roman victory against Veii would be possible only when the lake waters were channeled and used for irrigation.

???????????????? ???????????????????????????? ???????? ???????????????????? ????????????????
During the war with Veii in 393 BC the level of Lake Albano rose to an unusual height even in the absence of rain. This prodigy was believed to be relevant on the siege of Veii because a haruspex from Veii recited some lines of a prophecy that illustrated the relationship between the level of its waters and either the safety or the fall of the town to the Romans.

It foretold that as long as the waters of the lake remain high Veii would be impregnable to the Romans.
If the waters of the lake were scattered in an inland direction on the other hand Veii would fall; but if they were to overflow through the usual streams or channels toward the sea this fact would be unfavourable to the Romans as well.

This legend would show the scope of the powers hidden in waters and the religious importance of their control by man: Veientans too knowing the fact had been digging channels for a long time as recent archaeological finds confirm. There is a temporal coincidence between the conjuration of the prodigy and the works of derivation recommended by Palladius and Columella at the time of the canicula, when the waters are at their lowest.

???????????? ????????????????????????????
Today's urban center is located on the site of the ancient Lanuvium. On the alleged origins of Lanuvio, there are conflicting traditions. According to roman Appianus the foundation of Lanuvius was due to Diomedes. The second theory tells of the arrival in Italy, following the Trojan war, of a person named Lanoios.

???????????????????????????? ????????????
The first reliable news of the town testify that, at the end of the 6th century BC, it was part of the *Latin League*. It rose up, together with other Latin cities, against Rome, in several battles with almost always negative results.

Following the last and definitive defeat in 338 BC, it lost its independence, together with the other towns of Latium vetus, but already in 332 BC. it obtained a privilege treatment from Rome, in exchange for admitting the Roman people to administer half of the proceeds of the sanctuary of Juno Sospita.

From 332 BC until the outbreak of the first civil war (87-86 BC), Lanuvius maintained a high degree of well-being, but siding with Silla in this latter situation, Mario reduced it to a military colony.
Starting from the late republican age, it became the destination of the most prominent figures of Roman politics, who lived here: Marco Emilio Lepido, Marco Giunio Bruto, Augustus and Marcus Aurelius.

Lanuvio is famous for the birthplace of the emperors Antoninus Pius and Commodus.
With the edict of Theodosius of 391, which sanctioned Christianity as the only religion of the Roman Empire, the decline and inexorable abandonment of the ancient Lanuvius began. This edict in fact also involved the immediate closure of all pagan temples including that of Juno Sospita, which had been in operation since the 6th century BC, and which had been the driving force of the town for ten centuries.

???????????????????????????????? ???????????? ???????????????????????? ????????????
In the 9th century, following the invasions of the Saracens, the early medieval city of Civita Novina was founded .
During the 14th century the partial transfer of ownership of the castle into the hands of the Frangipane family also coincided with the change of the name to Civita Lavinia, which remained the town's name until 1914 (when the ancient Roman name of Lanuvio was restored).

Even if the site was not abandoned in the centuries following the edict of Theodosius, certain news of it only comes from the 11th century AD, when it was reborn thanks to the work of the Benedictine monks.

In 1798 Lanuvio risked being razed to the ground by the French troops who wanted to avenge the death of some comrades killed here, while the Sanfedist counter-revolution broke out.

In the Second World War, due to the importance of its strategic position, it was bombed from the sea and subjected to air raids by the allied armies landed in Anzio. Completely destroyed, the town was rebuilt thanks to the spirit of initiative its inhabitants.

**Some History**
The territory of Sermoneta was already populated in the archaic era. In its territory, near the present Abbey of Valvisciolo stood the ancient volsca city of *Sulmo*, mentioned by Virgil in the Aeneid.

The expansion of the Pontine marshes and the invasions of the Saracens pushed the inhabitants of ancient Sulmo to move to the current Sermoneta, which is already mentioned with this name in the eleventh century. Libero Comune, soon submitted to the Caetani family (1297) who made it the center of their dominions over the whole of southern Lazio, due to the fortunate position on via Pedemontana, an artery that had replaced the Appia in the connections between the North and the Southern Italy.
The Sermonetans, for the control of the road and in particular of the passing customs, first defeated the city of Ninfa then the neighboring Sezze.
The perfectly preserved medieval village, the Caetani Castle and the Cathedral date back to this period.

From the 16th century, with the first reclamation works of the Pontine Marshes and the reopening of the Appian Way, the city began a slow decline.
In 1567 it lost the title of capital of the Duchy of the Caetani who placed their headquarters in Cisterna. It hosted Leonardo da Vinci.

In 1928 on a part of its territory, in the locality of Doganella di Ninfa, the NationalFascist Combatant Opera set one of the headquarters for the reclamation operations of the Pontine marshes.
Since the post-war period, its historic center has experienced a heavy depopulation in favor of its territory in the plain where the hamlets of Doganella, Tufette, Pontenuovo and Carrara arose on the borders with the municipalities of Cisterna di Latina and Latina.

At the same time it has experienced a notable tourist expansion that has as its destination the ancient and well-preserved ancient village, home to numerous cultural events.

Scenes of the 2007 film Silk featuring Keira Knightley were filmed in Sermoneta.

**Some History**
Described by Livy as one of the Capita Etruriae (Etruscan capitals), Arezzo (Aritim in Etruscan) is believed to have been one of the twelve most important Etruscan cities—the so-called Dodecapolis, part of the Etruscan League.

Conquered by the Romans in 311 BC, Arretium became a military station on the via Cassia, the road by which Rome expanded into the basin of the Po. Arretium sided with Marius (157 – 86 BC) in the Roman Civil War, and the victorious Sulla (c. 138 – 78 BC) planted a colony of his veterans in the half-demolished city, as Arretium Fidens (Faithful Arretium).

The city continued to flourish as Arretium Vetus (Old Arretium), the third-largest city in Italy in the Augustan period, well known in particular for its widely exported pottery manufactures, the characteristic moulded and glazed Arretine ware, bucchero-ware of dark clay and red-painted vases (the so-called coral vases).

The Roman city was demolished, partly in the course of the Gothic War and of the late-6th-century invasion of the Lombards, partly dismantled, as elsewhere throughout Europe.

The commune of Arezzo threw off the control of its bishop in 1098 and functioned as an independent city-state until 1384. Generally Ghibelline in tendency, it opposed Guelph Florence.

At the end of the 18th century French troops led by Napoleon Bonaparte conquered Arezzo, but the city soon turned (1799–1800) into a resistance base against the invaders with the Viva Maria movement, winning the city the role of provincial capital. In 1860 Arezzo became part of the Kingdom of Italy.
