SCHWERIN CASTLE - GERMANY [ HD ]
#Schwerin Castle, or Schwerin, is a palatial schloss located in the city of Schwerin, the capital of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state, Germany.
It is situated on an island in the city's main lake, the Schweriner See.
For centuries the palace was the home of the dukes and grand dukes of Mecklenburg and later Mecklenburg-Schwerin. Today it serves as the residence of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state parliament .
Major parts of the current palace were built between 1845 and 1857, as a cooperation of the renowned history architects Gottfried Semper, Friedrich August Stüler, Georg Adolf Demmler and Ernst Friedrich Zwirner. The castle is regarded as one of the most important works of romantic Historicism in Europe and is designated to become a World Heritage Site. It is nicknamed Neuschwanstein of the North.

Schwerin & Schwerin Castle
Schwerin Castle sits on an island in the main lake at Schwerin, where a castle reportedly stood as early as the 10th century. For many centuries, it was home to the grand dukes of Mecklenburg. In the 20th century, it was a college for kindergarten teachers and a museum. Today the castle serves as a museum and as a government building for the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state parliament. Visitors with an interest in the paranormal will want to look for Petermännchen, the resident ghost who has been spotted wearing 17th century garb. The castle, with its many towers and turrets, is considered a prime example of Europe’s historicist architecture.

- The city hall (18th century).
- Schelfkirche (Saint Nicolai Church), originally built 1238, but rebuilt in 1713 after destruction by a storm.

Schwerin ist die Landeshauptstadt von Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Die kreisfreie Mittelstadt ist die kleinste aller Landeshauptstädte in Deutschland.
Schwerin wurde im Jahr 1018 als Wendenburg erstmals erwähnt und erhielt 1164 von Heinrich dem Löwen deutsche Stadtrechte. Damit ist sie die älteste Stadt im heutigen Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Die Stadt dehnte sich im Laufe der Zeit am West- und Südufer des Schweriner Innensees aus, insgesamt befinden sich zwölf Seen innerhalb des Stadtgebietes. Ausgangspunkt der Stadtentwicklung war die Stelle mit dem heutigen Wahrzeichen der Stadt, dem Schweriner Schloss; es befindet sich auf einer Insel zwischen Schweriner See und Burgsee mit der Schlosskirche aus dem Jahr 1560. Das Schloss war bis 1918 eine Hauptresidenz der mecklenburgischen Herzöge und Großherzöge und das Machtzentrum des Herzogtums Mecklenburg-Schwerin, das 1919 zum demokratischen Freistaat wurde. Seit 1990 ist das Schloss Sitz des Landtags. Es war mit seinen umgebenden Gärten der Hauptveranstaltungsort der Bundesgartenschau 2009 und ist als historisch einmaliges Ensemble mit den weiteren Residenzbauten ein Kandidat für das UNESCO-Welterbe. Daneben zeichnet sich Schwerin durch seine – für eine deutsche Stadt dieser Größe ungewöhnlich gut erhaltene – Altstadt, die angrenzende Schelfstadt, das Kurviertel Zippendorf und weitere historische Viertel mit vielen Baudenkmalen aus.

Schwerin oder , meckl.-schwerinerisch Swerin ist die Landeshauptstadt von Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Die kreisfreie Mittelstadt ist nach Rostock die zweitgrößte Stadt und eines der vier Oberzentren des Bundeslandes neben Rostock, Stralsund-Greifswald und Neubrandenburg. Laut Hauptsatzung der Stadt führt sie die Bezeichnung „Landeshauptstadt“ vor dem Stadtnamen.
Schwerin wurde im Jahr 1018 als Wendenburg erstmals erwähnt und erhielt 1160 von Heinrich dem Löwen deutsche Stadtrechte. Damit ist sie die älteste Stadt im heutigen Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Die Stadt dehnte sich im Laufe der Zeit am West- und Südufer des Schweriner Innensees aus, insgesamt befinden sich zwölf Seen innerhalb des Stadtgebietes. Ausgangspunkt der Stadtentwicklung war die Stelle mit dem heutigen Wahrzeichen der Stadt, dem Schweriner Schloss; es befindet sich auf einer Insel zwischen Schweriner See und Burgsee mit der Schlosskirche aus dem Jahr 1560.
Das Schloss war bis 1918 eine Hauptresidenz der mecklenburgischen Herzöge und Großherzöge und ist seit 1990 Sitz des Landtags. Es war mit seinen umgebenden Gärten der Hauptveranstaltungsort der Bundesgartenschau 2009 und ist als historisch einmaliges Ensemble ein Kandidat für das UNESCO-Welterbe. Daneben zeichnet sich Schwerin durch seine – für eine deutsche Stadt dieser Größe ungewöhnlich gut erhaltene – Altstadt, die angrenzende Schelfstadt, das Kurviertel Zippendorf und weitere historische Viertel mit vielen Baudenkmalen aus.

Die 750mm-spurige Esquel Bahn in Südargentinien ist nicht nur die südlichste Personenzugstrecke ganz Amerikas, sondern bis in den 90er Jahren ausschließlich Dampfbetrieben. Fast das ganze Jahr lang fuhr der gemischte Personen- und Güterzug mit siebzig Jahre alte Lokomotiven nur einmal in der Woche.
Pannen sind nicht selten auf dieser altersschwachen Bahn. Wir sehen wie einer doppelbespannte Planzug einen entgleisten Sonderzug wieder flottmacht und mit drei Lokomotiven weiterfährt. Das Programm enthalt atemberaubende Bilder der Züge in der rauhen Berglandschaft und scharfe Nahaufnahmen vom Triebwerk in voller Fahrt. Drei Loktypen, sind zu sehen, alle mit Baujahr 1922: eine 1’D 1’ Schlepptenderlok und C Tenderlok von Henschel sowie eine 1’D 1’ Schlepptenderlok von Baldwin, USA.
