Germany: Nienburg at the Weser
Nienburg is a town and capital of the district Nienburg, in Lower Saxony.
Situated on the scenic German Timber-Frame Road, Nienburg lies on the river Weser, approximately 55 km southeast of Bremen, and 45 km northwest of Hanover.
The ground plan of the town is that of the medieval Nienburg, which can be identified by the Hamelmann plan from 1634. Also come many buildings from the Middle Ages (including Burgmannshöfe, the church and the town hall). When you like timbered houses and an old historic town centre, Nienburg is an interesting place to visit.

Einfach mal auf den Landstraßen etwas schauen, überall in der Heide begegnen einem verlassene Häuser. Sehr oft Dorfgastronomie aus den 30er Jahren mit Kegelbahn und so. Diese kleinen Eindrücke kamen während meines Jobs zustande. Ich hatte also nur mein Handy bzw. normales Schuhwerk dabei. In den Objekten war ich daher nicht, aber als kleinen Eindruck, was einen in der Heidregion erwartet reicht es sicher. John Lennon hat tatsächlich hier schon einen Film gedreht.

Bremen Hauptbahnhof is a railway station in the city of Bremen in northwestern Germany. It is the most important rail station for both the city and state of Bremen; InterCityExpress, Intercity, EuroCity, CityNightLine and DB NachtZug services call at the station, which is situated to the Northeast of the city centre. The train services are operated by Deutsche Bahn, NordWestBahn, Metronom and Erixx.
Bremen's first train station was opened in 1847 on the site of today's station, on the line to Hanover. Later, lines leading to Vegesack (Bremen-Vegesack–Bremen line), Bremerhaven (then Wesermünde, Bremen–Bremerhaven line), Oldenburg and Uelzen (Uelzen–Langwedel railway) were connected to the station. In 1870, the Köln-Mindener Eisenbahn, opening its Wanne-Eickel–Hamburg line (Rollbahn), built another station some hundred metres north of the old station, since the old station could not cope with the additional Rollbahn traffic. Eventually, it was decided that a single station would be better, and so today's station was built from 1886 to 1891 after plans by Hubert Stier, with sculptures by Diedrich Samuel Kropp and Carl Dopmeyer. In 1907, additional tracks were added. Whilst the station hall has been remodeled several times due to war damage and modernisation, its basic outline still resembles the original 1880s building.
The station hall was thoroughly renovated in the late 1990s and early 2000s, merging the two formerly separated passenger tunnels into a single concourse. Since 1973, it is protected by the monument protection act. The station's platforms, however, were only partially renovated, but are expected to be refurbished from 2008 on for € 12.6 million.
The station sees 100 long-distance and 410 regional trains per day. About 100,000 passengers per day use the station. The station features nine platform tracks, of which seven are in the station hall. In the hall, two tracks serve as through tracks for freight traffic. The station is electrified since 1964 and has been thoroughly modernised during the late 1990s. Both the passenger and mail subways, which used to be separate, were joined together and the station's subway now features a rich selection of shops and food halls, akin to a shopping mall. The platforms have been partly modernised as well (most notably platforms 5 and 6, which carry most of the southbound long distance traffic), and lifts have been put in.

Neumünster is a city in the middle of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. With more than 79,000 registered inhabitants, it is the fifth-largest municipality in Schleswig-Holstein (behind Kiel, Lübeck and Flensburg).
The first historic record of the precursor village Wippendorf dates from 1127. The name refers to a new monastery Novum Monasterium built by the bishop Vicelinus. Since 1903 Neumünster is a so-called independent city (Kreisfreie Stadt) as it is not part of a district (Kreis).
The city was protested by the Rural People's Movement as part of a farmers' protest movement in northern Germany from 1928 to 1933, which was the basis for Hans Fallada's novel A Small Circus (Bauern, Bonzen und Bomben). The city's Hans Fallada Prize is named after him.
The Schleswig-Holstein NSDAP was founded in 1925 by Hinrich Lohse and received much support. On Kristallnacht in 1938, all Jewish men were arrested and sent to KZ Sachsenhausen.
During World War 2, Neumünster was bombed multiple times by Allied forces in 1945, partly because of its importance as a railway junction and industrial city. The British took control of the City in May 1945.
In the fall of 1946, the state of Schleswig-Holstein was founded and post-war Neumünster held its first municipal election.
Neumünster used to be a hub for the textile industry, seeing a lot of success in the 1970s. However, the industry eventually left the city and Neumünster's last cloth factory closed in the beginning of the 1990s.
Neumünster station is a major railway junction with lines running in six (formerly seven) directions, including the important Hamburg-Altona–Kiel and Neumünster–Flensburg lines.
Near Neumünster at Ehndorf, there is a high-power medium wave transmission facility for transmitting the programmes of Deutschlandfunk, the Ehndorf transmitter, which is often named incorrectly as Neumünster transmitter.
The city has an airfield and a hospital. The utility company, Stadtwerke Neumünster (SWN), also manages local inter-city bus routes.

Rencks Park is a park area in the center of Neumünster, Germany. It was built in 1857 at the banks of Schwale River as a private park. In 1870, the park was made public by Hans Lorenz Renck and Pauline Renck, children of the initial founder Detlev Anton Renck.
Hans Lorenz Renck is still present in the park as a stone monument, and many more monuments and artistic sculptures can be found here. Today Rencks Park is the most prominent urban park in Neumünster.
