Albis Pass | Driving in Switzerland | Sledging hills | Zurich | Switzerland
Albis Pass (el. 793 m or 2,602 ft) is a mountain pass in the Albis range in the canton of Zurich
in Switzerland. It connects the small village of Türlen on the Türlersee with Langnau am Albis.
At the top of the pass there is a restaurant and a free sledding hill which is very popular during
the winter season especially for families with little kids.

★ 4K ???????? Zug - Affoltern am Albis - Zürich Altstetten, cab ride Switzerland [06.2021]
We're joining the Zürich S-Bahn S5 in this video for the first half of it's journey from Zug. We looked at this service in the opposite direction a few weeks ago in its entirety from Pfäffikon SZ to Zug (
The line is the less frequently used connection between Zürich and Zug, the main line being via Thalwil & Baar, however there still are a number stations served by SBB Cargo and the frequent S Bahn services make the partially 1 track line quite busy.
Somebody commented that they'd rather if the stopping times at the stations weren't cut short, so I've left them in for this video. I usually leave them in if there's something happening and otherwise cut them out.
It was interesting reading about the Zug train station on Wikipedia, which used to be in a different location and until a few decades ago had a loop allowing a train coming from the direction we're driving in to loop into the station and continue towards Luzern (or back on the same line).
The colours are looking very vivid - however I didn't increase the saturation at all. Switzerland does get very green in summer and combined with sunlight, seems to be a bit overwhelming for any camera.

The Swiss climber Ueli Steck has been killed on Mount Everest, Nepal's tourist office says.During the same year, housing and buildings made up 4.0% and transportation infrastructure made up 2.3%. A total of 39.3% of the total land area is heavily forested and 2.7% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 9.2% is used for growing crops and 33.6% is pasturage, while 1.1% is used for orchards or vine crops and 6.0% is used for alpine pastures. All the water in the municipality is flowing water.[5]
The widely spread municipality is located on both sides of the Ilfis river and stretches to Napf mountain. It consists of the village of Langnau im Emmental and the hamlets that make up the seven parts of the Langnau parish; Langnau-Dorf, Frittenbach, Ilfis, Hühnerbach, Grossviertel (including Bärau), Rigenen and Gohl as well as about 20 alpine herding camps and meadows.
On 31 December 2009 Amtsbezirk Signau, the municipality's former district, was dissolved. On the following day, 1 January 2010, it joined the newly created Verwaltungskreis Emmental.[6]

Langnau im Emmental has a population (as of December 2015) of 9,154.[8] As of 2012, 6.3% of the population are resident foreign nationals. Between the last 2 years (2010-2012) the population changed at a rate of 0.8%. Migration accounted for 0.4%, while births and deaths accounted for 0.0%.[9]
Most of the population (as of 2000) speaks German (8,612 or 94.1%) as their first language, Albanian is the second most common (133 or 1.5%) and Italian is the third (80 or 0.9%). There are 35 people who speak French and 7 people who speak Romansh.[10]
As of 2008, the population was 48.1% male and 51.9% female. The population was made up of 4,053 Swiss men (44.9% of the population) and 281 (3.1%) non-Swiss men. There were 4,434 Swiss women (49.2%) and 249 (2.8%) non-Swiss women.[11] Of the population in the municipality, 3,765 or about 41.2% were born in Langnau im Emmental and lived there in 2000. There were 3,075 or 33.6% who were born in the same
Steck, who was known as the Swiss Machine, died in an accident while acclimatising for an attempt on the mountain, without oxygen, by a new route.
The 40-year-old had won multiple awards and was known for his rapid ascents.
His body has been recovered from the mountain and flown to Kathmandu by helicopter.
On Wednesday Steck wrote on his Facebook page that he had a quick day from Basecamp up to 7,000m and back as he believed active acclimatisation was the most effective way of getting used to high altitude.
The climber reached Mount Everest's summit without oxygen in 2012, and in 2015 climbed all 82 Alpine peaks over 4,000m (13,100ft) in 62 rs of the sport, who took days to complete it.

Zürich Wilderness Park is a wilderness park near the city of Zürich in Switzerland. This is a perfect place to visit with kids. It includes the Sihlwald forest, the largest mixed deciduous and coniferous forest in the Swiss Mittelland, and the Langenberg Wildlife Park, the oldest Swiss wildlife park. Both sites are situated in the Sihl Valley to the south of Zürich, but are separated from each other by the town of Langnau am Albis.
The city of Zürich received the Sihl forest, or Sihlwald, as a gift in 1309 from the Hapsburgers and again in 1524 through the dissolution of the Fraumünster convent. Over the following centuries, the forest provided Zürich with timber and firewood. However, the trees have not been felled since the 1990s; this is due to the actions of forest director Andreas Speich, in order to preserve the forest's unique composition.
In 1869, Langenberg Wildlife Park was founded by the city forester Carl Anton Ludwig von Orelli.
On August 28, 2009, the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) declared the Sihl forest a regional nature park of national importance.[4] The protection of Sihl forest was established through a forest reserve agreement in 2007 and a cantonal Protection Ordinance in 2008.[3]
The Zürich Wilderness Park was formed in 2009, by the merger of the Langenberg Wildlife Park and the Sihlwald forest. Today, the park welcomes more than half a million yearly visitors, who are encouraged to barbecue, hike, cycle, and even ride horseback through the park, as well as visit the its museum and attend various outdoor events.

The Uetliberg (also known as Üetliberg) is a mountain in the Swiss plateau, part of the Albis chain, rising to 870 m (2,850 ft). The mountain offers a panoramic view of the entire city of Zürich and the Lake of Zurich, and lies on the boundary between the city of Zürich and the municipalities of Stallikon and Uitikon. The summit, known as Uto Kulm, is in Stallikon.
At the summit, there is the Hotel Uto Kulm, together with two towers. One of these is a look-out tower (access costs CHF 5, rebuilt 1990), whilst the other is the Uetliberg TV-tower (186 m, rebuilt 1990).
The summit is easily accessible by train from Zürich. Uetliberg railway station lies some 812 m (2,664 ft) from, and 68 m (223 ft) below, the summit of the Uetliberg. It is the terminus of the Uetliberg line, and is linked to Zürich Hauptbahnhof by S-Bahn Zürich service S10. Trains usually run every half-hour, taking 20 minutes.
There are numerous walking paths leading up to the top from Albisgüetli, Triemli or Albisrieden with frequent water fountains and camping spots. Uetliberg also has a downhill mountain bike track which starts in the camping area at the top of the mountain and finishes next to Triemli railway station, also served by the S10. A panoramic footpath leads along the crest of the Albis ridge to Felsenegg, from where the Adliswil-Felsenegg cable car connects to Adliswil and the S4 S-Bahn service in the valley below.
The Uetliberg gives its name to the Zürich-based Uto section of the Swiss Alpine Club, and hence to the Uto Peak in the Selkirk Mountains of Canada, which was first climbed by members of the Uto section.

Der Wildnispark Zürich besteht aus dem Tierpark Langenberg und dem Naturerlebnispark Sihlwald, welche auf den Gemeindegebieten Langnau a.A. und Horgen liegen. Der Sihlwald ist ein Naturschutzgebiet von nationaler Bedeutung. Per 1. Januar 2010 hat der Wald vom Bundesamt für Umwelt für zehn Jahre das nationale Label «Naturerlebnispark – Park von nationaler Bedeutung» erhalten. Am 28. Mai 2019 wurde die Verfügung des Labels um weitere zehn Jahre bis 31. Dezember 2029 verlängert.
