Aachen in 5 minutes ???? Aachen Cathedral, Printen & Tri-border area
Aachen is one of our top 10 cities in Germany and worth a visit. Aachen Cathedral is world-famous. And so are the tasty Printen. Aachen is located at the border triangle of Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. Because of this location, you can feel Europe everywhere you go. We are theTravellers and show you Aachen in 5 minutes.
We start our Aachen tour at the city hall. It's worth taking a look inside. We continue to the Centre Charlemange city museum. On the way through the old town we eat some Printen. We pass the Elisenbrunnen - another landmark of Aachen. A little further out of town is the Lousberg. From here you have a view of the city from above.
If you're in Aachen for the weekend or even longer, e.g. for ERASMUS at rwth Aachen, it's worth taking a day trip to Monschau and the border triangle.

Ein Tag in Aachen | WDR Reisen
Die alte Kaiserstadt Aachen liegt im Dreiländereck von Deutschland, Niederlande und Belgien. Karl der Große hat sie sehr geprägt. Vor allem verdanken die Aachener ihm den Dom. Daneben entdeckt Lisa Kestel auf ihrem Rundgang aber auch Thermalquellen, Printenbäcker, Studentenkneipen und viele andere wunderschöne Ecken. Sie beendet den Ausflug im Stadtwald mit einem Begleiter auf vier Hufen.

Aachen – European flair in the border triangle. Germany
Aachen has been around for millennia. The Romans nursed their war wounds and stiff joints in the steaming waters of its mineral springs, but it was Charlemagne who put the city firmly on the European map. The emperor, too, enjoyed a dip now and then, but it was more for strategic reasons that he made Aachen the geographical and political capital of his vast Frankish Empire in 974 – arguably the first empire with European dimensions.

Here we have a video we have put together from our trip to Aachen in Germany. This pretty little German city is on the border with the Netherlands & Belgium, and is home to one of UNESCO's first World Heritage Sites - it's Cathedral.
We give a few 'must-see's', places to visit, things to do, a something you must try. We loved our time in the city and would love to head back at Christmas.

Bereits die Römer schätzten die warmen Quellen. Eine planmäßige Siedlung mit mehreren Thermalanlagen um Christi Geburt ist belegt. Aachen ist heute mit seinen historischen Gebäuden und einer mit vielen Geschäften ausgestatteten Fußgängerzone eine moderne sehenswerte Stadt mit viel Charme.

Unser Rundgang durch Aachen (Nordrhein-Westfalen) beginnt am Hauptbahnhof. Von dort aus schauen wir uns u.a. das Marschiertor, das Theater, den Elisenbrunnen und vor allem den Aachener Dom (UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe) mit dem Domschatz an. Das Alte Rathaus und der Brunnen - mit einer Figur von Karl dem Grossen - sowie das Couvern-Museum und das Spielcasino stehen auch auf unserem Programm.

The Aquis Plaza (in former planning stages Kaiserplatz Gallery ) is a shopping center in the center of Aachen at the eastern end of the shopping street Adalbertstraße. It extends from Willy-Brandt-Platz to Kaiserplatz . After years of preparations and problems, including the purchase of the necessary land, the ECE Group was able to start the demolition and excavation work on the construction site on May 16, 2013 with the groundbreaking ceremony.
Participants in the development of the center is the Strabag Real Estate and the Hamburg architecture firm Blauraum Architekten . On 16 January 2014, the final has been building permit by the city of Aachen granted. With a topping-out ceremony on October 21, 2014, the completion of the shell construction was celebrated. The opening took place on October 28 will be 2015. and is said to have attracted more than 84,000 visitors.
About 130 retail stores with a sales area of 29,200 m 2 spread over basement, ground floor, first and second floor of the mall, including large chain stores such as Sport Scheck , Zara , TK Maxx , Reserved , Media-Saturn-Holding GmbH and Rewe . The center employs around 700 people.
The complex consists of two building wings connected by a glass-roofed passageway from Kaiserplatz to Willy-Brandt-Platz. This is accessible via all four levels, which are connected by stairs, escalators and elevators. The parking areas have 600 parking spaces and can only be reached via Kaiserplatz. They are located above the sales levels on the 3rd and 4th floors. A Car Finder System for finding the parking space is available.

Aquisgrán, Alemania: La ciudad imperial de Carlomagno
Aquisgrán, o Aachen en alemán, es la ciudad más occidental de Alemania. Pertenece al estado federado de Renania del Norte-Westfalia y se sitúa a pocos kilómetros de las fronteras con Países Bajos y Bélgica. El origen de su nombre proviene de la palabra en latín Aquisgranum, que significaba aguas del dios celta Granum, Dios al que se veneraba por las aguas termales que brotaban de la tierra. En efecto, fueron los romanos quienes construyeron aquí un complejo de termas que luego fue heredado por los francos. Es decir, las termas de esta ciudad han influido durante siglos en su gran historia.
Además de ser conocida por ser el mayor centro termal al oeste de Alemania, la prosperidad de Aquisgrán se debió también a que fue la residencia favorita del emperador Carlomagno. En efecto, Carlomagno hizo de Aquisgrán la capital de su imperio durante su mandato. Actualmente es una ciudad con mucha vida, especialmente por sus estudiantes universitarios ya que posee algunas de las universidades más prestigiosas de Alemania.

Aachen (2023 Aken in Dutch, Aix-la-Chapelle in French) is a city in Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. Aachen has a population of 250,000 and borders the Netherlands and Belgium. The River Wurm flows through the medieval city centre. Aachen borders Maastricht (Holland) and Liege (Belgium) and is connected in the Ruhrgebiet with Cologne (Köln), Mainz and Düsseldorf.
Aachen is well known in history as it was founded by the Romans. In the Middle Ages the city of Aachen became the Imperial Residence of the Frankish Emperor Charlemagne. Aachen is the city where 31 Holy Roman Emperors were crowned in the Aachen Cathedral as the Kings of the Germans between 936 to 1531. The Aachen Cathedral is one of the oldest Cathedral in Europe. It was constructed by Emperor Charlemagne himself who was buried there in 814 AD.
