Why is the Gambia called “The Smiling Coast”?
It is because of its location on the map of Africa. The country cuts through the middle of Senegal and its position appears like that of a smile on the map.
It is one of the friendliest places to explore within the region. The people are warm and hospitable, and the beautiful beaches will certainly make you smile.
Where should you stay in the Gambia?
Book a beach hotel. The success of your trip largely depends on where you stay.
What should you expect?
1. Gambia is a small country; not a rich one, therefore, manage your expectations.
2. Gambians are courteous and they are also hustlers.
3. Activities within the capital city would involve visiting Arch 22 and its museum, learning about the history - particularly slavery, visiting the fine beaches, and exploring the food culture. To experience more of Gambia, take a trip to the countryside.
4. English is widely spoken.

Day 13 in Africa! our favourite place and day so far - Gambia Bakau! Thanks to our friend Lamin we had an amazing tour around the must see places and learned a little bit about the traditions and history. It was very informative and casual. Loved it.
First time in our lives we touched alive crocodile, feeling was really impressive and a bit scary too!
Fully recommend to get in touch with Lamin on whatsapp (+220 702 44 69 if need a tour around Bakau or nearby in Gambia, even getting picked up at Airport,Hotel Reservations etc.
It was an impressive start to day 13 in Kachikally crocodile pool , and soon a new episode as we are heading to ???? PARK!

Lamin Lodge is a tourist site in the Gambia on the great Gambia River. Tourist visits here during the tourist season of the country. Some people even leave their boats here and travel back to their respective locations in the hands of local guides
GAMBIA (AFRICA) TRAVEL TO:LAMIN
Lamin is the largest village in Kombo North Western Division of the Gambia. A village with two large clans, Bojang, and Manneh, as the founders, and all the rest are considered lountan meaning strangers in Manidinko. There is a village leader, AlKalo who is from the lineage of the Bojang. Until recently the village was divided into zones marked by tribes, the Mandinkos in Sateba, the Jolas in Sanchaba, the Manjako in Wayoto and all the other tribes in Temasu.
Lamin es la aldea más grande de la división noroeste de Kombo de Gambia. Una aldea con dos grandes clanes, Bojang y Manneh, como fundadores, y todos los demás se consideran lountan, que significa extraños en Manidinko. Hay un líder de la aldea, AlKalo, que es del linaje de los Bojang. Hasta hace poco, el pueblo estaba dividido en zonas marcadas por tribus, los mandinkos en Sateba, los jolas en Sanchaba, los manjako en wayoto y todas las demás tribus en Temasu.

Lamin Lodge is a three-story wooden construction on stilts, overlooking the mangroves of the river Gambia. Lamin Lodge is a restaurant, and it also has an entertainment by local musicians and dancers. Many kind of boat and bird excursions are made from the place too. It's not far away from the coast and was fun place to see.
