Kyrgyzstan (/ˌkɜːrɡɪˈstɑːn/ KUR-gih-STAHN;[8] Kyrgyz: Кыргызстан Kırğızstan Kyrgyz pronunciation: [qɯrʁɯsˈstɑn]), officially the Kyrgyz Republic (Kyrgyz: Кыргыз Республикасы, romanized: Kırğız Respublikası; Russian: Кыргызская Республика, tr. Kyrgyzskaya Respublika), and also known as Kirghizia (Russian: Киргизия [kʲɪrˈɡʲizʲɪjə]),[9] is a country in Central Asia.[10] Kyrgyzstan is a landlocked country with mountainous terrain. It is bordered by Kazakhstan to the north, Uzbekistan to the west and southwest, Tajikistan to the southwest and China to the east. Its capital and largest city is Bishkek.
Kyrgyzstan's recorded history spans over 2,000 years, encompassing a variety of cultures and empires. Although geographically isolated by its highly mountainous terrain, which has helped preserve its ancient culture, Kyrgyzstan has been at the crossroads of several great civilizations as part of the Silk Road and other commercial and cultural routes. Though long inhabited by a succession of independent tribes and clans, Kyrgyzstan has periodically fallen under foreign domination and attained sovereignty as a nation-state only after the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991.
Since independence, the sovereign state has officially been a unitary parliamentary republic, although it continues to endure ethnic conflicts,[11][12] revolts,[13] economic troubles,[14][15] transitional governments[16] and political conflict.[17] Kyrgyzstan is a member of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Eurasian Economic Union, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the Turkic Council, the Türksoy community and the United Nations.
Ethnic Kyrgyz make up the majority of the country's six million people, followed by significant minorities of Uzbeks and Russians. Kyrgyz is closely related to other Turkic languages, although Russian remains widely spoken and is an official language, a legacy of a century of Russification. The majority of the population are non-denominational Muslims.[18] In addition to its Turkic origins, Kyrgyz culture bears elements of Persian, Mongolian, and Russian influence.

Kyzyl-Suu and market (Kyrgyzstan)
(EN) Kyzyl-Suu (formerly known as Pokrovka) is a village in the Issyk Kul Province of Kyrgyzstan. About 10km inland from Lake Issyk Kul on the A363 highway between Jeti-Ögüz resort and Barskoon, it is the capital of Jeti-Oguz District. At the head of the Chong Kyzyl-Suu ('little red water') valley, it is a base for trekking into the 14,000 foot mountains to the south.

Juuku Gorge, Kyrgyzstan - beautiful place on Earth
Juuku Gorge has located 75 km from the town of Karakol, to the west of Chong-Kyzyl-Suu gorge. The length of the valley is 50 km. The distance of more than 30 miles on the slopes of the canyon is covered with spruce forests. At the bottom of the gorge, there are silent red rocks.

Traversed by the Celestial Mountains and the famous Silk Road, Kyrgyzstan is home to vast wilderness areas steeped in a thousand-year-old nomadic culture. The best way to discover the country with its extremely varied landscapes is by 4x4. We went on a 15-day off-road trip driving on every kind of surface imaginable: from stony tracks to snowy mountain passes and even a few river crossings.

Tian Shan Gorge Trek, Kyrgyzstan
A trek from gorge to gorge in the Tian Shan mountains of Kyrgyzstan. We wild camped from the start in Juukuchak Gorge until Jety-Oguz yurt camp, then used fixed camps for the rest of the way to the end at Altyn Arashan. The trek included two high passes, Telety Pass (3800 m) and Ala-Kul Pass (3900 m) as well as Lake Ala-Kul and views of Karakol Peak. After a tour of the capital city Bishkek, our outward road trip to the start of the trek paused to see the Burana Tower and to spend some time on the shore of the beautiful Lake Issyk Kul. After the trek we had a tour of Karakol before the return road trip pausing at Cholpon-Ata to see the petroglyphs. 8 - 23/07/23.

Incredible Views and Food in Kyrgyzstan | Travel Vlog
It was another beautiful day. Some incredible views and food in Kyrgyzstan.
Today, I'm going to keep the summary short because I'm off on a hike in a minute. But, today was another really good day here in Kyrgyzstan. We got up for a bit of a hike to look into the mountains, and we heading into a village for some traditional Kyrgyz food which was incredible.
I can't wait to get into the mountains a little bit more.
And, even though I'm not exactly a foodie or a food blogger, experiencing the food in a country is something I really enjoy.
There will be a bit of a gap in the travel vlogs here now because I'm off trekking through this beautiful Kyrgyz landscape.
And, on the treks I'm probably not having that amazing Kyrgyzstan food, but believe me, I'm having fun.

The Salkyn-Tor National Park is located in the Naryn region and occupies 10,448 hectares. The amazing beauty of the nature of these places will not leave anyone indifferent. Animals, birds, insects and plants listed in the Red Book of Kyrgyzstan live here. Restoring the number of deer is the main goal of creating a national park.
Salkyn Tor will allow lovers of educational tourism to plunge into the life of the Kyrgyz people and enjoy the wild and beautiful nature of the Naryn region. There are places in the park that are recommended to visit: the Kozho-Unkur cave, the historical Dyubeli hill, the key spring of Kurga, as well as the beautiful rocky gorges of Kok-Zhayik, Berkut-Uya, Kyzyl-Zoo.
