This is the 3rd video of our Coastal Karnataka video series. In this video we have covered our journey from Murudeshwar to Kumta and places to visit in Kumta. Kumta is amongst the hidden gem of Coastal Karnataka. Here one can enjoy everything like, mesmerising beaches, adventurous trek, mystery caves, historical marvels, beach facing resorts, and many more. In Kumta we did the Kagal Hill and beach trekking with our 4 years old daughter and it was an amazing experience.
Coastal Karnataka
Coastal Karnataka is amongst the least explored destinations among Indian coastlines. This is despite the fact that the area offers a rich collection of beautiful beaches, temples, ancient ruins, forest trails, caves, and jaw-dropping landscapes.
We recently did our 8 days road trip from Bangalore to Coastal Karnataka where we covered places (in same order): Mangalore - Udupi - Murudeshwar - Kumta - Gokarna - Karwar.

Gokarna is a town on the Arabian Sea, in the southwestern Indian state of Karnataka. A popular pilgrimage destination for Hindus, it’s known for sacred sites like Mahabaleshwar Temple, which has a shrine dedicated to the deity Shiva. Nearby, Koti Teertha is a temple tank where devotees wash in the holy waters. The town is also home to beaches such as palm-lined Gokarna, in the center, plus Kudle and Om farther south.

Yana is a village located in forests of the Sirsi and Kumta Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka, India which is known for the unusual karst rock formations. It is located in the Sahyadri mountain range of the Western Ghats, about 60 kilometres (37 mi) from Karwar port, 39 kilometres (24 mi) from Sirsi, and 31 kilometres (19 mi) from Kumta. Yana is one of the wettest villages in the world and it is cleanest village in Karnataka and second cleanest village in India. The two unique rock outcrops near the village are a tourist attraction and easily approachable by a small trek through 0.5 kilometres (0.31 mi) of thick forests from the nearest road head.
Om Beach is a major tourist attraction in the coastal city of Gokarna, located in North Canara district. One of the acclaimed beaches in the country, Om Beach takes the shape of an ‘Om’, a Hindu spiritual symbol. In the shape of two crescents joined together to form an Om, the beach offers a breathtaking view of the sunset. The long stretch of white sandy beach adjoining the rocky terrain appeals to travellers from around the world.

Karnataka Roadtrip: 8 days- Jog Falls, Apsarakonda, Kumta, Gokarna, Chikmagalur, Agumbe | Episode 1
On 26th Oct., I took this trip, which, I would say, was a trip for a lifetime. It was not that long in terms of the number of days, but if you ask me, I genuinely lived every second of it.
The trip made me realize a lot of things. How beautiful and liberating it is to be on the roads, that sense of freedom, meeting new people, tasting new kinds of food, and a lot more other things.
This video is from Day 1 and 2 of the trip and some parts of preparation for the trip also. Karnataka is a very new place for me (for those who don't know, I am from Haryana). It gives me immense pleasure to experience the beauty of this state.
Taking this Namaste Karnataka series slowly and gradually.
