The Secret Place in Kudat, Sabah, Malaysia
The Secret Place (literally) is located at the coast of Kudat en route to the Tip of Borneo, Simpang Mengayau. Why it is a secret? You need to look for the signboard carefully or you will miss it. This place offers nature at its best and also privacy to visitors. There is a mini bar and a cafe run by the owner and his family that serves freshly baked pizza which is a must try when you come to visit. Let's support local tourism!

Kudat City in Sabah, Malaysia
Kudat - northern town of Sabah, closest to the Tip of Borneo, in Malaysia. Hidden tourist gem. Bustling, diverse city in a tropical setting. Great markets. We found a nice 3 star hotel for very reasonable price and next morning caught a public bus to Kota Kinabalu.

Here’s our 10 days exploring what to do in Sabah. We ended up seeing sunset and sunrise, visiting islands, and wandering through some markets and cities.
Northernmost tip of Borneo Tanjung Simpang Mengayau Kudat Sabah Malaysia Travel 穿越婆罗洲最北端沙巴马来西亚旅游胜地
Location : Tanjung Simpang Mengayau, Kudat Division, Sabah, Malaysia.
“Simpang Mengayau means ‘lingering junction’ as it is here that the South China Sea lingers and meets the Sulu Seas flowing from the east . It is located in the Kudat Peninsula, about three and a half hours (or 215 kilometres) drive from Kota Kinabalu City.”
Driving out of Kudat and heading for the Tip of Borneo, we decided to make a quick visit to Bak Bak beach situated on the east side. Beautiful place but no accommodation or visitors other than the 3 of us. I believe it caters more for the locals during the weekends.
We continued on through quite a bad patch of dirt road before passing through a village with a narrow and winding road. The first thing upon arrival at the newly built car park was to check out the open air venue of the annual Sunset Music Festival which will be held on 3rd and 4th June 2016.
Next was the famous globe and a couple of selfies to do some justice to its fame.
With the low tide, it was possible to walk all the way to the very end of the tip where the 2 seas of Sulu and South China are divided here.
Along the beachfront we noticed at least 5 B&Bs and chalets with prices ranging from RM40 to RM500, offering lots of outdoor activities such as scuba diving, snorkeling, deep sea angling, kayaking and surfing.

Kudat ialah sebuah bandar dan daerah di negeri Sabah, Malaysia. Bandar Kudat terletak kira-kira 190km dari ibu negeri Sabah, Kota Kinabalu di bahagian utara negeri Sabah berhampiran dengan Tanjung Simpang Mengayau yang merupakan bahagian paling utara pulau Borneo.

Trip To Tanjung Simpang Mengayau, Kudat, Sabah, Malaysia
The Tip of Borneo is located in Kudat district and one of the most popular attractions in Sabah. Borneo is the third largest island in the world, and its northern most tip is the meeting point of two big oceans, South China Sea and Sulu Sea. The scenery is delightful but you may not know where you stand was used to be a watch-point for pirate invasion hundreds of years ago. Thats why the Tip of Borneo is also known as Tanjung Simpang Mengayau, which means the junction to the battle at the tip (in Rungus language).

Northern TIP OF BORNEO! Sabah, Malaysia (WeWillNomad)
From Kota Kinabalu, we took a (very bumpy) 3-hour ride to Kudat and made our way to the tip of Borneo! We were based at Tapad Do Aman's Jungle Campe for 3 weeks where we did some volunteer work. The routine made for an interesting break from our travels and we quickly fell into a comfortable rhythm. We usually were on duty from 8:00 to 10:30 each morning and again from 18:00 to 21:00 with the rest of the day to spend as we please. Most days felt very short and after catching up on some admin we headed to the beach nearby until sunset. We sadly ended up not filming much during this time but managed to catch a few key moments on one day we had off.

Kota Kinabalu To Kudat Borneo
Today we are travelling from kota kinabalu to kudat which is the very north or sabah borneo.
Kudat is not a popular tourist destination with foreign tourists really but we are hoping to help change that. When we looked at going to kudat last year we came across some posts that said kudat was not safe for foreigners ect. We decided to go still and what a surprise it was, there was ZERO feeling that we was ever unsafe and we felt perfectly fine and comfortable there.
The malaysian people are very welcoming and happy to see foreigners in these lesser tourist areas very much like filipinos.
Kudat has one of the best beaches in Borneo which we will be taking you to in the next vlog
The best way to reach kudat is to hire a car and drive the 4 hour trip yourself. To hire a car each day was 18 pounds per day between us 2 which is 9 pounds per day each. From our experience its best to drive yourself around Borneo as it is so big and long distance buses will take a very long time.
We highly recommend you visit kudat if you want to go off the beaten track and see a side of real Borneo
