Arena Armeec - the best place for sports, and concerts in Sofia, filmed with a drone

Arena Armeec hall in Sofia, Bulgaria, filmed with a drone

Photos:
Location:

This weekend i did an interesting comparison between the old and the new. In this first part i flew around the brand new Arena Armeec and then i checked out the old, dilapidated sport complex Cherveno zname, which is only about 100 meters away. There is a striking difference and a sad familiar feeling about all these old sport halls, factories and buildings that were built in a different time and then forsaken during the democratic years. So this is Arena Armeec, just hours before the heavyweight boxing match between Kubrat Pulev and Hughie Fury. Posters for the match can be seen on the facade of the arena. The match was in the evening and Pulev won with unanimous decision. The arena is brand new and is a very popular multi purpose hall that can house every kind of event. Sports, concerts, even dirt bike competitions take place here daily. Another landmark of the region is the roundabout, known as 4th kilometer. This place is also called Aviation square and commemorates the success of our military aviation. The flags of the European countries around the roundabout were placed this year for the first ever Bulgarian presidency of the council of the European Union. Check the second part where I show how Cherveno Zname sport complex looks like as a contrast of this new and widely popular new hall. Sofia, Bulgaria, 27.10.2018

I dry out ⛺️ The sun’s out ☀️ And good news from Greece ????????

Day 42. 75km (52838kms)
To my dismay it rained much of the night, but I woke to clear skies and a light tailwind, so in a break from my normal habits (after a coffee of course!) I hopped straight out of the tent to start drying everything.

Back through the waterlogged and potholed dirt streets of Marten I was quickly back to the main road. Just 10 kilometres east I was able to cut south east across the countryside.

Maybe it’s the tailwind, or maybe it’s the flatter terrain, but after a month back on the bike, I’m beginning to feel at one with Gibbo again. After several months on the road I begin to feel like it’s an extension of me. I’m not there yet, but I feel comfortable and strong. I don’t even miss my padded shorts!

Amongst the villages I met friendly people filling up their domestic bottles at a mobile water tank, later, in Kubrat I had the sensation of entering a Wild West bar as everyone seated at the outside dining stopped what they were doing and turned to watch me cycle past. Here I broke for a leisurely lunch in a leafy pedestrian square. I wouldn’t make it to the Tracian tomb I was aiming at before closing time so without any rush I enjoyed resting in the sun.

Arriving at Sboryanovo archeological site two full hours before sunset I found a superb spot hidden from the road in a meadow of wildflowers. It’s rare that the opportunity arises to set up camp in such lovely surroundings this early, so it was a real treat to enjoy a mug of Bulgarian wine and dinner outside in the sun.

GREAT BULGARIA

TOP 15 MOST ANCIENT COUNTRIES SURVIVED BEFORE OUR TIMES

While determining the age of a nation, it is important to understand that the process is gradual. Consequently, it is next to impossible to determine when exactly a state was formed. However, through the analysis of the history of a country, it is possible to come up with an objective age. Another way that the age can be determined may be through the use of the date a country adopted a constitution. This method is unambiguous although it cannot be applied to some nations.Armenia (the Republic of Armenia) is a country in Asia with ancient roots. Archaeological data shows that the nation was inhabited as early as the Bronze Age around 4000 BC. The events leading to the formation of the country are unclear as evidenced by the legend of Hayk who was responsible for founding Armenia. Older known civilizations that have also helped shape the country include Hittites and Mitanni. The Democratic People's Republic of Korea has a rich history going as far back as approximately 7th century BC during the period of the First Kingdom. The formation of the country back in that period is actually a matter of legend.Formally known as the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Vietnam traces its roots all the way back to Âu Lạc (a historical Vietnamese state). However, the first semblance of a government can be attributed to the Hồng Bàng dynasty. The dynasty is so old that some historians consider it a mythical period. Âu Lạc came after the dynasty.Officially known as the Arab Republic of Egypt, Egypt has been inhabited since ancient times. In fact, most historians agree that the country is the cradle of civilization itself due to early developments in things like writing and governance. Over the years, the nation has been built by civilizations such as Romans, Greeks, and Nubians.Officially known as the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iran’s habitation goes as far back as the Lower Paleolithic. Some of the earliest civilizations include Elam and Jiroft. Elam, which was the most prominent, was the one responsible for founding Iran during the Proto-Elamite era or Susa III.Many historians agree that Ethiopia is one of the oldest countries in the world. Many historians agree that Ethiopia is one of the oldest countries in the world. While we know that human life has existed in Ethiopia for millions of years thanks to skeletal fragments uncovered, it’s generally agreed that Ethiopia developed as a country in 980 BCE. This was when one of the first kingdoms, known as the D’mt, rose to power. Ethiopia is one of the few African countries that never fell into the hands of colonizers, with the exception of when it was occupied for a few years under Italian dictator Mussolini in the 1930s.Dating back to the Ancient Greek era, the country of Greece has remained firmly in the grasp of Grecians for at least 5,000-6,000 years. The Greeks were known to have taught the world revolutionary concepts and created the foundations of modern Western civilization. They made huge advances in science, technology, art and literature, law-making and politics, and Athens was home to the world’s first form of democracy (something that, over 5,000 years later, many countries are still trying to grasp the meaning of). While Greece today has different borders to that of Ancient Greece, and the country has passed through different hands, much of its original culture remains evident and establishes it as one of the oldest countries in the world.Japan is also a contender as one of the oldest countries in the world. The first Japanese Emperor, who is said to be the descendant of the sun goddess Amaterasu, ascended the throne in 660 BCE according to Japanese legend. While legend doesn’t give way to fact, the country of Japan started appearing in Chinese literature in 300 CE. So whether you believe legend or not, Japan has certainly been around for quite some time. The country has passed through the hands of several dynasties and emperors, and it is still under the rule of Emperor Akihito who is said to abdicate in April 2019. If you’re lucky enough to visit, be sure to visit these 5 Top Castles in Japan to feel like you’ve stepped back in time.As with Greece and the Ancient Greeks, modern-day Egypt is a different territory to that during the Ancient Egyptian era. The area has passed under the Egyptian hand for millennia and Egyptian culture can date back as far as the 6th millennium BCE. Its hieroglyphics were the world’s second oldest writing system and the first Egyptian kingdom was formed in the 4th millennium BCE. The area passed through the hands of various empires over the years, such as the Persian empire and the Ottoman empire, and the country was conquered by the Arabs in the 9th–10th century CE and has remained a Muslim country ever since.

Some you can ride there completely off road, or via some stunning tarmac routes.
