Top 10 Things To Do In Kuantan City, Pahang, Malaysia

Кuantan is a city and the state capital of Pahang, Malaysia. It is located near the mouth of the Kuantan River. Kuantan is the 18th largest city in Malaysia based on 2010 population, and the largest city in the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia.

The administrative centre of the state of Pahang was officially relocated to Kuantan on 27 August 1955 from Kuala Lipis and was officiated by HRH Sultan Abu Bakar Ri'ayatuddin Al Muadzam Shah,[1] the Sultan of Pahang.

Kuantan in the first century was a part of Chih-Tu empire. In the 11th century, this piece of land was conquered by another small empire called Pheng-Kheng before being taken over by the Siamese during the 12th century. During the 15th century, Kuantan was ruled by the Malacca Empire.

Kuantan is said to have been founded in the 1850s. The word Kuantan was mentioned by Abdullah bin Abdul Kadir (Munshi Abdullah) circa 1851/2 as below:

...On Thursday night came a boat from Kuantan. Then they told the ship's crew there's a pirate ship at Tanjung Tujuh, forty of them and at Kapas Island, and as well at Redang Island; it was spotted by two Kuantan boats and they set off...
In its early days, it was known as Teruntum Village (Kampung Teruntum). The village was situated at the mouth of Teruntum River which is in front of the current hospital and it was established by Haji Senik and his followers in the 1850s. Early primary economic activities included fishing and small businesses. The main evidence of the establishment of the village is the cemetery that is situated near Taman Esplanade in front of the current Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan.

Towards the late 19th century, arrival of Chinese miners and traders saw the establishment of a township in Kuantan and nearby tin mining areas such as Gambang and Sungai Lembing. Similar to what occurred in other states in Peninsular Malaysia, rubber plantations attracted Indian settlers as well.

The sinking of HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Repulse took place off the coast of Kuantan on 10 December 1941.

Kuantan was declared by Al-Sultan Abdullah Al-Haj as a full-fledged city on 21 February 2021 and its town council officially renamed the Kuantan City Council.

First Impressions of Kuantan: Teluk Cempedak, Riverfront, City Centre- Pahang, MALAYSIA TRAVEL VLOG

First impressions on Kuantan, Pahang!

This time, we are joined by our friends @Travelgramers @FoodandFootprints @KenAbroad
We went to Teluk Cempedak, a famous beach in Kuantan, and wonder around town to check out things to do in Kuantan and things to eat in Kuantan. We thought the city is quite modern as saw many big malls!

Taking the river cruise where you can see crocodiles and fireflies is one of the most popular activity. We will do that on the next vlog. But for now, we just took a stroll on its beautiful riverfront. We also took some drone shots of Kuantan. The shots were especially at the Kuantan State Mosque and at the Kuantan 188 tower. Oh yeah, Happy Malaysia Day!

We hope you enjoy this Malaysia Travel Vlog and Kuantan Travel Vlog. Stay tuned for more Malaysia Travel Guide and Kuantan Travel Guide. We hope we can help you plan your trip with more vlogs on Things to do in Malaysia and Things to do in Kuantan.

a trip to Kuantan, capital city of the state of Pahang Malaysia

Kuantan:
Kuantan is the capital city of the state of Pahang on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Kuantan is the largest city on the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia. There are a number of places in and around Kuantan that are worth visiting.
How to go:
1. On air: There are few daily flights from Kuala Lumpur-KLIA which take 40 minutes from Kl to Kuantan.
2. By road :
1. By Bus: It takes about 4 hours from Kuala Lumpur by bus.
2. By car: approximately 250 kilometers can be covered in 3-3.5 hours.

Swiss-Garden Beach Resort Kuantan:

Swiss garden beach resort and spa is bit old resort but we'll maintained. Lobby is very spacious and has comfortable sofa set. Rooms are clean and we'll equipped. Wash is updated with hot water and bathtub. Lots of parking space thought it's lil bit far from the lobby. Best part of this hotel are pool and attached sea beach. It has 3 separated pool. 1. for Kids with two slides, one spiral slide, a water splash and a water spray area. It's really enjoyable pool for the kids. 2. For Adult which is 1.5m depth. 3. Jacuzzi which is suitable for 18 and above. It has wide Sandy Beach. Beach is also clean and it has access with pool. View from the beach is nice. Buffet breakfast is great with good variety but only drawback is if items finished they don't refill it. It also same for buffet dinner. Cafeteria has both indoor and out door seating arrangement. For buffet dinner they also arrange barbeque. In addition resort has kids play room, gym. WiFi is complementary for guest and connection is also good. It indeed a nice place to relax and enjoy with fnf and location is also good.

Sungai Pandan Waterfall:

One of the best waterfall i have visited. If you're in kuantan, you must visit this place. It's beautiful. If you go up to the top, the view is amazing. It's a good place to enjoy with family. You can take shower with the waterfall water, do picnics. To go to the top with a infant (under 1year) and if it's heavily raining is quite tough but after reaching the end and view is worth to take these pain. There is also washroom but it can be better. Really a beatiful place to visit.

Pantai Teluk Cempedak:

Teluk Cempedak or Teluk Chempedak also known as Palm Beach or Windy beach in Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia.
It’s beautiful beach with awesome scenery. It’s very windy which I like the most. This beach is perfect for family vacation and hang out and you can enjoy varieties of food near the beach such as MacDonald’s, KFC, Subway, A&W, Starbucks etc. Hyaat is the closet resort from this beach. Don’t be surprise if you see a lot of monkeys hanging around but they are very friendly to the visitors.
It’s indeed an amazing place. A must go place in Kuantan.

The 3 HIDDEN GEMS of Malaysia — Kuantan, Kota Bharu, Langkawi | The Travel Intern

Think you’ve seen all there is to Malaysia? Think again. This time, we bring you to three of Malaysia’s hidden gems — Kuantan, Langkawi and Kota Bharu.

But it’s not so simple, no. We were given challenges by Scoot, to split up in teams of two, and in each country:

1. The search for the most thrilling and action-packed experiences

TEAM KUANTAN
00:41 - Bukit Panorama
If you’re up for a hike, this is it. No one else to disturb your quiet time with nature.

00:59 - Sungai Pandan Waterfall
After your hike up Bukit Panorama, head to this waterfall to cool off and ease the tension in your body~

TEAM KOTA BHARU
01:16 - Perhentian Islands (Three Point Snorkelling)
Just an hour away from the main city of Kota Bharu, there lies the beautiful Perhentian Islands, a snorkelling haven, if you must. :-)

01:27 - Windmill Point
The stairs can get quite sketchy, so be careful if you’re headed there. But at the top, you get this panoramic view of the teal-blue waters of Perhentian Islands!

TEAM LANGKAWI
01:41 - Umgawa Zipline
You get to zip past canopies and canopies and even a beautiful waterfall!

01:58 - Langkawi Skycab
02:05 - Langkawi Skybridge
Take one of the steepest cable cars up to the Langkawi Skybridge for the best views ever!

2. The hunt for the best dining experiences

TEAM KOTA BHARU
02:18 - Siti Khadijah Market
If you want local fare, this is where it’s at. Fresh produce and a whole load of other food stuffs for ya!

TEAM KUANTAN
02:35 - Restoran Hoi Yin
Probably one of the best curry in Kota Bharu — with the creamy curry and the tender meat. Absolute yumz~

02:47 - Kula Cakes
TRY THEIR MANGO CHEESECAKE!! ‘Nuff said.

02:55 - Ana Ikan Bakar Petai
Petai can come across pretty strong, but this particular dish served here is just SEDAPPPPP. Even the team who weren’t huge fans of Petai were converted!

TEAM LANGKAWI
03:11 - Sunset Dinner Cruise
The best way to end the day — not only with a cruise, but a SUNSET DINNER cruise. With the most gorgeous views along with a satisfied tummy.

03:33 - Pantai Cenang
The nightlife here in Langkawi is pretty damned hype if we have to say so ourselves!!

3. Visit to the most iconic attractions

TEAM LANGKAWI
03:52 - Kilim Karst Geoforest
Spend the morning speed-boating through the mangroves and visiting fish farms and caves.

TEAM KOTA BHARU
04:09 - Wat Phothivihan
This is where the largest reclining Buddha in Asia sleeps!
04:20 - Wat Machimmaram

TEAM KUANTAN
04:25 - Sungai Lembing Mines
Take a tour through an actual tin mine! Imagine if it were completely pitch black…

Amazing vibes on Teluk Cempedak beach! Malaysia Kuantan

We are in Kuantan (Pahang) and today we are going to Teluk cempedak (Pantai Teluk Cempedak), one of the most popular beach here. We are really impressed by this lively beach and this is definitely one of the things to do in Kuantan. We really enjoyed it and we also tried for the first time the roti tissue (tisu prata).
Kuantan cherating beach is the other popular beach around Kuantan, if you wonder which one to go, this video can help you. It will also show you how easy it is to go by bus from Kuantan city.
