Unexpected Adventure in The Hague Netherlands ????????
The Hague Netherlands, the government capital of the Netherlands. The official capital is Amsterdam however anything government related runs out of the Hague. Since the city is less than a 1 hour metro ride from Rotterdam I decided to go out and check out the the Dutch city.
Upon arrival in the Hague I noticed immediately just how beautiful the city is and different than most other Dutch cities. It had a lovely city center with beautiful canals and a very diverse set of residents. Beautiufl clssic architecture litter the city. The Hague also has it's own beaches but we didn't get to go that far into the city.

Ship history
The vessel was built at the Van der Giessen de Noord shipyard in Krimpen aan den IJssel, Netherlands, for the shipping company Scheepvaart En Steenkolen Mij. N. V. She was launched on 21 May 1951 and named Midsland. In 1964 the ship was sold to Caribbean Association Traders of Panama, and renamed Mistral. She was sold again in 1967 to the Bahamas Line and renamed William Express. On 18 July 1975 the ship sank off Samaná, Dominican Republic. She was refloated and sold to Benjamin Catrone of Panama and renamed Anna C. The ship was soon sold again being bought in 1976 by the Seacoast Shipping Corp. of Panama and renamed Doric Express. Finally, in 1979 she was sold to the San Andrés Shipping Line of San Andrés, Colombia, and renamed Hilma Hooker.[1]
Sinking[edit]
In the summer of 1984, the Hilma Hooker had engine problems at sea and was towed to the port of Kralendijk, Bonaire. It was already under surveillance by drug enforcement agencies. Docked at the Town Pier, local authorities boarded the ship for an inspection when her captain was unable to produce any of the requisite registration papers. A false bulkhead was discovered, and held within was 25,000 lb (11,000 kg) of marijuana. The Hilma Hooker and her crew were subsequently detained while the local authorities on Bonaire searched for the vessel's owners, who were never found.
The ship languished under detention as evidence for many months and through general neglect of her hull she began to take on considerable amounts of water. It was feared that she would sink at the main dock on the island and disrupt maritime traffic. After many months of being tied to the pier and pumped of water, on September 7, 1984 the Hooker was towed to an anchorage. As the days passed, a slight list became noticeable. The list was even more obvious one morning. The owner was still not coming forward to claim the ship and maintain it so the many leaks added up until on the morning of September 12, 1984 the Hilma Hooker began taking in water through her lower portholes. At 9:08 am she rolled over on her starboard side and, in the next two minutes, disappeared.[2]
Dive site[edit]
The Hilma Hooker came to rest on a sand flat between two coral reef systems in an area known to divers as Angel City. The wreck has subsequently become a prime attraction for scuba divers. It lies in approximately 100 feet (30 m) of water and at 240 feet in length provides ample scope for exploration. However, relatively little of the wreck involves penetration diving.
The Hilma Hooker is regarded as one of the leading wreck diving sites in the Caribbean, according to Scuba Diving Travel Magazine.

The Hilma Hooker is a 236-foot Dutch freighter built in Krimpen aan den IJssel, the Netherlands. It was originally christened the Midsland on May 20, 1951. This ship would change hands — and names — multiple times over the next two decades.
On July 18, 1975, the Hooker, then known as the William Express, foreshadowed its eventual fate when it sank off Santa Bãrbara de Samanã in the Dominican Republic. But it was raised from an early grave and sold once more and renamed the Anna C. The last registered company to own the ship, the San Andres Export & Import Company in San Andres, Colombia, purchased the Doric Express in 1979 and gave it the now famous moniker, Hilma Hooker.
Less than five years later, in the summer of 1984, the Hooker faced technical difficulties off the coast of Bonaire — whether problems with steerage or an engine failure is a matter of debate — and was towed into the main port of Kralendijk.
Authorities became suspicious of the ship when the crew failed to produce papers for Customs immigrations officials, though, depending on whom you ask, it could also have been an inside tip or simply the ship’s colorful name that prompted the increased scrutiny.
Though tales tend to disagree on what exactly was the key evidence that tipped off the authorities, the result of their search is consistent from one to the next: 25,000 pounds of marijuana were found stashed behind a false bulkhead. The crew was arrested and the ship was impounded at the dock on June 6, 1984.

Zo vaar je een boogbrug dwars door Rotterdam | Aftermovie | Transport tijdelijke Suurhoffbrug
Precies volgens de planning is op 10 mei om 01:00 uur het megatransport van de tijdelijke Suurhoffbrug vertrokken vanaf de kade bij de voorbouwlocatie in Krimpen aan den IJssel. Het transport is succesvol door het centrum van Rotterdam gevaren en is nu onderweg naar de Maasvlakte. In de nacht van vrijdag 14 op zaterdag 15 mei wordt de tijdelijke brug naast de bestaande Suurhoffbrug in de A15 gelegd. Ook dit evenement zal live te volgen zijn op dit YouTube-kanaal:
Het transport met de boogbrug van circa 200 meter lang, 20 meter breed en meer dan 40 meter hoog is achtereenvolgens de Van Brienenoordbrug, de Hef, de Koninginnebrug, de Erasmusbrug en de Botlekbrug gepasseerd.

De Suurhoffbrug (in de snelweg A15) is – als toegangspoort tot de Maasvlakte – een vitale verbinding voor het Rotterdamse havengebied. Door de toename van het steeds zwaardere vracht- en personenautoverkeer is de brug aan vervanging toe. De bestaande brug wordt gerenoveerd. Naast de bestaande Suurhoffbrug leggen we een tijdelijke tweede boogbrug, zodat de last van het (vracht)verkeer de komende jaren wordt verdeeld over de twee bruggen. Rond 2030 vervangen we de Suurhoffbrug door een nieuwe oeververbinding.

Hollandsche IJssel bij Nieuwerkerk
Misschien niet het mooiste deel van de Hollandsche IJssel, maar zeker wel een interessant deel. Vanwege de grote binnenvaartschepen met containers, die je voor Gouda niet ziet op de Hollandsche IJssel en vanwege het meer industriële karakter van de omgeving en vanwege het feit dat hier de Hollandsche IJssel vlak bij Rotterdam uitmondt in de Nieuwe Maas.
Dit is het laatste deel van de serie over de Hollandsche IJssel. Binnenkort een samenvatting van de Hollandsche IJssel van Nieuwegein tot Nieuwerkerk.

Perhaps not the most beautiful part of the Hollandsche IJssel, but certainly an interesting part. Because of the large inland vessels with containers, which you don't see before Gouda on the Hollandsche IJssel and because of the more industrial character of the area and because the Hollandsche IJssel flows into the Nieuwe Maas here close to Rotterdam.
This is the last part of the series about the Hollandsche IJssel. Soon a summary of the Hollandsche IJssel from Nieuwegein to Nieuwerkerk.

Recreatiegebied De Krimpenerhout wandeling met onze hond Toscana door Tine de Jong
Nl/Eng/ Ditmaal zijn we eens gaan wandelen met onze viervoeter vriendin in een mooie natuur en recreatiegebied met een eigen surfplas, een strandje en een ligweide. Krimpenerhout ligt aan de rand van Krimpen aan den IJssel. Maar ook is er een hondenplas waar je hond heerlijk in kan spelen en zwemmen. Geef je hierbij ook een live filmpje van mijn hond Toscana die er ook even in speelde. Ze heeft artrose in haar heup en zwemmmen is dus goed voor haar. Tussen de fotos door zie je nog een kort live filmpje van haar erbij.
Je kan hier heerlijk rondwandelen want het is afwisselend. Je vindt er moerasachtige gedeelten met bos met veel paadjes die je in kan gaan op zoek naar avontuur en natuur. Met onze herfstwandeling kwamen we ook enige paddenstoelen tegen. Maar ook wat reigers waren hier te zien. Er is hier ook een avonturenbos en een speelbos waar kinderen heerlijk kunnen ravotten. Later zou men het hier nog mooier maken en het opknappen. Als je goed kijkt zie je mij ook een keer in beeld.???? #Natuurwandeling #TinedeJong #krimpenerhout

Wil jij ook eens met je viervoeter of gezellig samen er ook eens naar toe dan kan je gratis parkeren op de grote parkeerplaats , de kruising van de provinciale weg (G.C. Roosweg) Roosweg (N210), en de Krimpenerbosweg. Dit is de hoofdingang van Krimpenerhout.
Bij de entree staat een bord met informatie over de wandelpaden, de speelpolder, de surfplas en natuurlijk over het losloopgebied en het hondenstrandje. op het hondenstrand is er ook een speciale hondenplas aangelegd. Het is hier een geliefde plaats voor menige viervoeters en hun baasjes. Door de verharde paden is dit natuurgebied ook uiterst geschikt voor rolstoelgebruikers.

ZIERIKZEE (M862) Königlich Niederländische Marine
Die niederländische Minenjagdboot Zierikzee (M862) der Alkmaar-Klasse verlässt den Marinestützpunkt Kiel durch die Kieler Förde Richtung Ostsee.
Die Zierikzee (M862) nimmt an BALTOPS 2019 in der Ostsee teil. BALTOPS ist ein multinationales Manöver, das seit 1971 jährlich in der Ostsee stattfindet. Es wird von der United States Navy organisiert.
Die Alkmaar-Klasse bezeichnet einen Minenjagdbootstyp der königlich niederländischen Marine. Die Minenjagdboote der Alkmaar-Klasse sind das Rückgrat der Seeminenabwehr der Niederlande. Das Typschiff war die bereits außer Dienst gestellte Alkmaar (M 850). Alle 15 Boote wurden nach niederländischen Städten und Gemeinden benannt.

Am Nato-Mannover BALTOPS 2019 werden laut US Navy über 50 Marineschiffe und Boote sowie zahlreiche Hubschrauber und Flugzeuge aus 16 NATO-Staaten sowie aus Finnland und Schweden teilnehmen. Das Mannöver findet in Zeitraum vom 07.06.2019 bis zum 21.06.2019 statt. Kiel ist in 2019 Start- und Endhafen des BALTOPS-Mannövers.
Zahlreiche Marineschiffe / Kriegsschiffe haben sich aus diesem Grund im Tirpitzhafen, dem Marinestützpunkt in Kiel an der Kieler Förde, versammelt.
Am 09.06.2019 haben dann die meisten Schiffe den Kieler Hafen verlassen und sind durch die Kieler Förde in die Ostsee gefahren, darunter auch das Minenjagdboot Zierikzee (M862) der niederländischen Marine.

Haastrecht is een stad en voormalige gemeente in de Nederlandse provincie Zuid-Holland en maakt deel uit van de gemeente Krimpenerwaard. Het aantal inwoners is ongeveer 4.370.
Haastrecht ligt in de Krimpenerwaard. Andere dorpen en steden in de Krimpenerwaard zijn Schoonhoven, Bergambacht, Stolwijk, Ammerstol, Berkenwoude, Lekkerkerk, Krimpen aan de Lek, Gouderak en Ouderkerk aan den IJssel.
