1. Stockholm:
Stockholm is the capital and most populous urban area of Sweden as well as in Scandinavia. Stockholm is the cultural, media, political, and economic centre of Sweden. 975904 people live in the municipality approximately 1.6 million in the urban area and 2.4 million in the metropolitan area. The city stretches across fourteen islands into the Baltic Sea. Outside the city to the east, and along the coast, is the island chain of the Stockholm archipelago. The area has been settled since the Stone Age and was founded as a city in 1252 by Swedish statesman Birger Jarl. It is also the county seat of Stockholm County.
2. Gamla Stan (The Old Town):
Gamla Stan until 1980 officially Staden mellan broarna (The Town between the Bridges), is the old town of Stockholm, Sweden. Gamla stan consists primarily of the island Stadsholmen. Officially Gamla stan includes the surrounding islets Riddarholmen, Helgeandsholmen and Strömsborg. All of Gamla Stan and the adjacent island of Riddarholmen are like a living pedestrian-friendly museum full of sights, attractions, restaurants, cafés, bars, and places to shop.
3. Höga Kusten (High Coast):
The High Coast is a part of the coast of Sweden on the Gulf of Bothnia, in the Ångermanland province of northeast Sweden, centered in the area of the municipalities of Kramfors, Härnösand, and Örnsköldsvik. It is notable as an area for research on post-glacial rebound and eustacy, in which the land rises as the covering glaciers melt, a phenomenon first recognised and studied there. Since the last ice age, the land has risen 300 meters, which accounts for the region's unusually tall cliffs.
4. The Drottningholm Palace ( Drottningholms slott)
The Drottningholm Palace ( Drottningholms slott) is the private residence of the Swedish royal family. It is one of Sweden's Royal Palaces. It is located in Drottningholm. Built on the island Lovön in Ekerö Municipality of Stockholm County. It was originally built in the late 16th century and it served as a regular summer residence of the Swedish royal court for most of the 18th century. It is a private residence of the Swedish royal family and also the palace is a popular tourist attraction.
5. Abisko:
Abisko is a village in Sápmi (Lapland), in northern Sweden, roughly 250 km within the Arctic Circle, and near Abisko National Park, located 4 km west of the village. On this car strolling we find a very enjoyable, variegated, beautiful and pleasant *detour* along the Ångermanälven river. We find both farms, housing developments, meadows and some forest along the paved road that offers THREE nice views - at least - and an entertaining ride.

“Set in the northeast province of Ångermanland on the Gulf of Bothnia, the High Coast is a UNESCO World Heritage site, boasting the highest coastline in the world at approximately 286 meters above sea level. Due to a geological process called post-glacial land uplift – occurring since the most recent ice age – the land continues to rise at a rate of approximately 8 millimeters per year. This phenomenon is in direct contrast to Finland’s Kvarken archipelago, situated on the opposite side of the Gulf of Bothnia, with its flat, low-lying islands and shallow bays.
The High Coast’s dramatic world heritage landscape includes a beautiful archipelago and is a vast, uncrowded wonderland – a natural year-round arena for any outdoor activity you can imagine, from hiking and climbing to watersports and skiing. The region is also interesting from a cultural perspective, serving up a rich plethora of sights and places of historic interest. Highlights include centuries-old fishing villages as well as Nämforsen’s famous Bronze Age rock carvings. It also offers cultural experiences in the High Coast Art Valley and an array of intriguing museums and art galleries.
