Korbacher Spalte - 2nd oldest mountain fissure on Earth (Korbach Fissure)
Korbacher Spalte (located in Korbach near Edersee / Lake Eder, Germany) is the second oldest mountain fissure on planet Earth. This opening could have happened in an earth quake during the regression of the Zechstein sea, and contained many spectactular fossils like the Korbacher Dackel (Procynosuchus, a pre-dinosaur mix of crocodile and dog). This fissure is around 250 Million years old and there are weekly tours for tourists which I have joined. The video ends with a visit in old town Korbach and their church.

Kassel, Korbach, Germany, 1994
Kassel is a city located on the Fulda River in northern Hesse, Germany. It is the administrative seat of the Regierungsbezirk Kassel and the district of the same name and had 200,507 inhabitants in December 2015. The former capital of the state of Hesse-Kassel has many palaces and parks, including the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Kassel is also known for the documenta exhibitions of contemporary art. Kassel has a public university with 25,000 students (2018) and a multicultural population (39% of the citizens in 2017 had a migration background).
Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe is a landscape park in Kassel, Germany. The area of the park is 2.4 square kilometres (590 acres), making it the largest European hillside park, and second largest park on a hill slope in the world. Construction of the Bergpark, or mountain park, began in 1689 at the behest of the Landgraves of Hesse-Kassel and took about 150 years. The park is open to the public today. Since 2013, it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Korbach: Zwischen den Mauern und Altstadtrundgang

Das Regenwetter zwang mich zur Planänderung. Statt Diemelsteig Etappe 3 dann eben Stadtbesichtigung in Korbach. Das Städtchen konnte ich letztes Jahr vom Uplandsteig in der Ferne sehen und dachte, das könnte man sich mal anschauen. Nun war der Zeitpunkt dafür gekommen. Mittags mit dem Regionalzug in 20 Minuten nach Korbach empfängt mich dort tatsächlich recht trockenes Wetter!
Ich folge der Goldspur vom Hauptbahnhof bis in die Altstadt und besuche zunächst das sehr gut gemachte Werner-Bonhage-Museum. Das wiederhole ich sicher einmal mit mehr Zeit und Muße, im Eintritt ist nämlich auch der Zugang zur Korbacher Spalte enthalten!
Danach geht es direkt zu den Stadtmauern, wo ich den Rundgang Zwischen den Mauern um die Altstadt starte. Anschließend werden im Zickzackkurs die Sehenswürdigkeiten der Altstadt besucht und dann wird es auch schon Zeit, wieder gen Bahnhof zu gehen.
