[Driving] Heading for Knivsta and then highway 77 to Norrtälje (Sweden) (15 July, 2023)
Today I decided to take a longer trip than usual and trice one hour to Norrtälje. I planned it so I would take one route to, and another one from. For some reason the GoPro sometimes turns itself off. It's rare, but it is at the same time not due to overheating, so a small portion of the trip is missing.
Keep in mind that all timestamps are approximate.

Great investment opportunity north of Stockholm

The property consists of a nature estate with more than 6 hectares and a Swedish funkis stil mansion. The charming estate named Ragnhildsvik is situated directly on lake Mälaren which is Sweden's third largest lake. You can just step out of the door and take a boat trip to Stockholm and from there out into the Baltic Sea.
Although the estate is located in a secluded spot of beautiful nature it is well connected to the world via short distances: Arlanda International Airport is only 26 km away, 58 km to the city of Stockholm and 26 km to the venerable university town Uppsala. Just 13 km away is Sigtuna, the picturesque and much visited oldest town of Sweden. 10 km away is the town Knivsta with its train station - the train ride from there to Stockholm-C takes only 30 minutes.
The villa is surrounded by old majestic trees and there is a large overgrown orchard with a variety of fine old apple sorts.
The view from the house over the 400 metres (440 yards) Mälar-shore is phenomenal. From the drawing room and from the big westward balcony you have a picturesque view over the lake and the baroque castle Skokloster located at the opposite shore of Mälaren which is considered one of the most beautiful castles in Europe (see photography below). The romantic location with its magic, typical nordic atmosphere stirs mind and soul.
The house was built in 1909, and in 1942 it was converted into Swedish funkis stil. It also was rebuilt and renovated in recent years. The villa offers 300 square metres: 9 rooms (of which 6 are possible as bedroom) plus 2 halls, a big prestigious drawing room with a library and a dining room aside,
A spacious entrance hall with fireplace and a wide staircase lead into the building and to the upper story. There is an additional lounge area - also equipped with a fireplace – plus 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
2 more bedrooms, and a small guest bathroom are located on the ground floor - as well as the spacious kitchen with pantry.
Heating of the house is done by a hot-water central heating with heat pump.
At the lakeshore is a boathouse with a wooden terrace. The water there is sailboat-deep.
On the Skokloster-side of the lake - about 800 meters away - there is a gas station, where you can buy fuel for the boat.
The reed belt in front of the property provides for a good fish stock. There is plenty of perch, pike and other gourmet fish. The landowner has the right to net fish.

• Vassunda Golfklubb 7 km, Sigtunabygdens Golfklubb 13 km,
• numerous riding stables in the area,
• several marinas, no boat license required!,
• waterways reaching out to the Stockholm archipelago and into the Baltic Sea,

• fishing: at Mälaren no permission is required to go fishing!,
• lakefront property owners are allowed to fish with the net,
• cycling and hiking trails (Kungsleden, Upplandsleden),
• various conservation areas,
• numerous castles and other attractions,
• cultural activities, especially in Uppsala and Stockholm.

Stockholm Walks: Sigtuna, Stora gatan
Founded in 970 Sigtuna is one of the oldest cities in Sweden. It´s located about an hour from Stockholm, quite close to the airport Arlanda. Charming wooden houses, lovely location by lake Mälaren, and lots of historical sites makes it a popular place to visit, even on a rainy day in September such as this. This walk is along a part of the main shopping street, with a small detour by the café Tant Brun, situated in a log house from 1600´s.
