4. East Park
Hull's largest open space, dog-friendly East Park is a delight to explore. Notable features of this lovely park include an animal compound with deer, wallabies, rheas, and peacocks, as well as a variety of native Australian birds. It also hosts regular concerts and other events such as the Hull Show in warmer weather.
Opened in 1887 to celebrate Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee, this Grade-II-listed park is a vibrant green space encompassing some 130 acres of parkland. Also well worth a visit is nearby Queens Gardens, with its lovely floral displays, fountains, and ponds.
3. Burton Constable Hall & Grounds
An easy 25-minute drive northeast of the Hull Maritime Museum, Elizabethan-era Burton Constable Hall makes for a fun excursion from the city center. The oldest parts of this sprawling manor house date back to the 12th century, and the same family – the Constables – have lived here for well over 400 years.
Highlights of a visit include seeing the home's well-preserved 18th- and 19th-century interiors, including the spectacular staircase, and a rare cabinet of curiosities. Be sure to allocate some time to explore the estate's impressive 300-acre grounds. Afterward, splurge on a memorable afternoon tea.
2. Waters' Edge Country Park & Visitor Centre
Paying a visit and exploring Waters' Edge Country Park & Visitor Centre is one of the best free things to do in Hull. Located on the south bank of the Humber River, this wildlife and nature sanctuary is located just steps away from the Humber Bridge. Yet its proximity to this major Hull attraction doesn't detract from a visit. The views over this remarkable feat of engineering are quite dramatic, especially when framed by the natural setting of the park.
In addition to the fun-to-walk trails and boardwalks, be sure to pop into the Visitor Centre, which features fun activities for kids, as well as a playground. There's also an on-site shop and café.
1. Barton-upon-Humber
The town of Barton-upon-Humber – usually simply referred to as Barton – is just 11 miles from Hull on the south side of the Humber, a trip that involves crossing the Humber Bridge.
Barton is home to the 1,000-year-old St. Peter's Church, notable for its more than 2,800 burials from Anglo-Saxon to Victorian times. Now under the auspices of English Heritage (with limited opening hours), its Anglo-Saxon tower and baptistery have helped make it one of the most studied churches in England.
Other attractions in historic Barton include the Baysgarth House Museum, the Wilderspin National School Museum, and 51 Fleetgate, believed to be the oldest residential house in North Lincolnshire.

Walking around Penrith City Centre on Saturday afternoon.
Penrith is a city in New South Wales, Australia, located in Greater Western Sydney, 55 kilometres (31 mi) west of the Sydney central business district on the banks of the Nepean River, on the outskirts of the Cumberland Plain. Its elevation is 32 metres (105 ft).
Penrith is the administrative centre of the local government area of the City of Penrith.
The Geographical Names Board of New South Wales acknowledges Penrith as one of only four cities within the Greater Sydney metropolitan area.
Penrith is one of the major commercial centres in Greater Western Sydney. The suburb contains two shopping centres.
Westfield Penrith, (formerly Penrith Plaza) is the largest shopping centre in the suburb, it opened on the 30th of March 1971, it was acquired by Westfield in 2005 and it is located within a main commercial centre.
Nepean Village (formerly Nepean Square) is a single level shopping centre.
Penrith railway station is a major railway station on the North Shore & Western Line of the Sydney Trains network. It has frequent services to and from the city and is also a stop on the intercity Blue Mountains Line.
Penrith railway station is served by a bus interchange and by the Nightride Bus route 70.
Penrith can be accessed from St. Marys and Mount Druitt via the Great Western Highway. Access from further east is best obtained by the M4 Western Motorway using either The Northern Road or Mulgoa Road exits. If travelling east from the Blue Mountains, access is best obtained by the Great Western Highway. Access from the south can be obtained by The Northern Road and Mulgoa Road, north from Castlereagh road or Richmond road, or from north and south via Westlink M7 and the M4 Western Motorway.
The NSW Government announced funding for the construction of the M9 in the 2014 state budget to connect Camden, Penrith and Windsor. The proposed motorway will start from the M5 motorway and run west of the current M7 motorway.

The current Government House, known as the Gothic Revival Government House, was completed in 1845. It replaced an earlier Government House that was built in the early 19th century.
Government House serves as the official residence of the Governor of New South Wales, who is the representative of the Australian monarch. The Governor-General carries out various constitutional and ceremonial functions at the state level.
The building is designed in the Gothic Revival architectural style and features sandstone construction, turrets, and intricate detailing. It is considered an important example of colonial architecture.

Welcome to the channel, this week we leave the iconic opal mining town of Lightening Ridge in northern NSW and head a little further west to the Garwin Opal Fields where we discover 3 fantastic pubs in the scrub. Each of the pubs offer free camping and all they ask in return is that you drop for a beer and a chat.
We try our hand (unsuccessfully) to find Opal while fossicking in the noodling piles at each of the free camps. A massive storm hits whilst we’re at the Garwin Club in the Scrub so we retreat to the van and Steve gives you a quick guide to CHEAP & DELICIOUS meals on the road.
Allison reveals our favourite travelling YouTube family @nowornever_aus and we both vow to return to Sheep Yards Inn next time we are in Lightening Ridge for a beer or 3 (Well…..at least Steve did).

Leap Of Faith
After all the students at Year 7 Camp had a go at the Leap of Faith, climbing up to the top of a telegraph pole and then jumping off, they insisted that I have a go. So I did.

Museum of Contemporary Arts Australia - Circular Quay Sydney
Have past this building many times and always wondered what was inside. There are 6 floor, 5 floors contain galleries of contemporary arts from Australia and around
the world. Over the floors the artwork and sculptures are fairly spaced out making it a relaxing walk around, Our favorite being the beautiful pieces of aboriginal art.
Located on 1st level is the MCA Store selling a selection of jewellery, fashion, homewares, puzzles, handmade gifts and toys.
The top floor or rooftop house the MCA Cafe selling a wide range of food at a reasoneable price and a sculpture that they change quite often, on our visit they
featured a sculpture by Cameron Robbins, Wind Anolog, this moving sculpture converts the wind movement into a drawing. Toilets are availeable on most of the floors,
make a day of it and try to get there by Ferry.Enjoy your day.
