The climb - Ruwenzori trekking 5-days Kilembe Route to Weismann’s Peak 4620m - AMAZING NATURE!!!

Uganda, mountains of the moon: #Ruwenzori Trekking Services operates the #Kilembe Route with reasonable prices, good organization and well experienced staff. Starting point Kyanjuki/Kilembe 1450m, Sine Camp 2596m (1st night), Mutinda Camp 3688m (2nd night), Bugata Camp 4062m (3rd night), summit climb from 7 to 11am to #Weismann’s Peak 4620m, Kiharo Camp 3430metres (4th night) and back to Kilembe Trekkers Hostel.
Gumboots are required for most of the time to cover muddy sections and will be provided. Believe it or not, they had much better grip on all kind of ground and did not cause any blister. Only that I would take my own gumboots with steel caps next time to avoid toes getting hurt.
Ruwenzori Mountains in the border region Uganda and Kongo with 5109m (Margherita Peak) the third highest and snow covered mountains in Africa. It consists of six massifs with three peaks above 5000m and close to 20 peaks above 4000m.
Annual rainfall is about 2500mm. You have a good chance to experience rain also during dry season. But hiking in this environment is definitely worth it with amazing nature and views. Pass various vegetation zones (tropical rain forest, bamboo zone, heather zone, alpine zone, rock and ice zone) with the so-called heather zone the most outstanding to me.

4 in a 4x4- Episode 36. Taking in the mighty Ruwenzori mountains

#mountaineering #ruwenzori #africanglacier
A place of myth and legend, the Mountains of the Moon have long captured Dev's imagination. Standing 5109m tall, they present a formidable challenge for climbers, being very technical in nature and needing crampons and ropes on the summit day to cross the glacier to the summit.

It is one of the sources of the Nile river (depending on which book you read) and has incredibly unique terrain and plant life.

Uganda Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi National Park - Country #80 to Visit All Countries

In this video, I share my travel experience in Uganda which is my country #80 in my quest to visit all 193 UN-recognized countries around the world. During my time in Uganda, I got a chance to do gorilla trekking in Bwindi National Park. Seeing the gorillas deep in the forest was a surreal experience. We also got a chance to eat Ugandan food such as Rolex and this experience was definitely underrated.
