It has been such an incredible journey with the most fulfilling return to a state that I’ve been to 4 times already. And everybody has showered nothing but love on me. For which I’m extremely grateful!

Welcome To Nagaland! (2/3) DZULEKE & KHONOMA - The villages in Nagaland.
I visited Nagaland in the month of April and had the opportunity to open my mind to endless experiences! For the longest time, Nagaland and the whole of North East has been so neglected: tourism wise and also culturally :(. So I took the plunge to discover the beautiful state myself, with two other creators- Tanya Khanijow & Namrata Menon. These girls have been the most lovely to travel with :)

????????Things to remember when you plan your travel:????????
????Dzuleke has a total of ONLY 5 homestays. You have to book your stay in advance because you do not want to be stranded in the village with no roof. Try the homestay I stayed in, or Anisie Homestay on Airbnb.
????There is absolutely no internet or phone signal in Dzuleke. LOVELY!
????You need an ILP-(Inner Line Permit) to enter the state of Nagaland. You can apply here—
????Commute in the city is pretty straightforward. You can use the local rickshaws, or hire a car to go around. The roads are super bumpy especially in Dimapur & Kohima, so be prepared :D
????The food scene is very much different than mainland. Vegetarians options are available, but make sure you mention you’re vegetarian since they also tend to cook their veggies in pork fat. Nagaland thrives on pork and beef, and a lot of things you don’t see in the rest of the country. I suggest that you visit with an open mind, else it will be super difficult to survive. I personally loved the food. :D
????Make sure you have enough cash on you. It’s advisable to carry cash from home since it was even hard to find ATMs.
????Homestays are the best way to experience the local living. Since the people are super friendly, the hosts are lovely to interact with and know so many things about the Naga culture.
????Do a lot of research before you visit. The state has 16 different tribes and they speak different dialects. Read about their lifestyle and food.
????Carry your rainwear and warm clothes since the weather is pretty unpredictable. The best time to travel according to me is December (for Hornbill festival ) and also April.
????Nagaland is a dry state! :P
????Nagaland is a state full of beauty and the nicest people I've ever come across. The misconceptions about this magic land are hilarious! So do not believe anything else you hear about this place. We stayed here for 10 days and had no issues, problems at all! Trust me! Your next travel, must be planned for the north-east especially NAGALANDDD!

Reach at Chennai Airport till 1 pm
Use Chennai Metro to reach Chennai Central. (Heritage Railway Station Building, Rippon Building, Madras High court)
Start your tour from Beach road. There are four major attractions on this road close to each other namely MGR Memorial, Marina Beach, Light house, Santhome Church. If you wish you can spend your rest of the time on beach only Or you can visit Kapaleeshwar temple, Valluaval Kottam, Sarvna Store The Legend at Usman Road (T. Nagar). After dinner board the Train for Rameshwaram (From Chennai Egmore Station.
Your night will be spent in train only.
Day 2 Rameshwaram
Don't forget to see the Pamban bridge as your train will cross this century old engineering marvel (Made by British in 1914) in the morning at 7:30 am. You can also the Road bridge parallel to it.
Auto rixa will charge Rs 100 to drop you at the hotel near Rameshwaram temple from railway station.
There are many hotels and Dharamshala. But don't waste much time as temple remains closed from 12 noon to 4 pm. Ask the driver to drop you at the police barricading near west gate. (Vehicles are not allowed from this point onward).
Highest point of Rameshwar is Ram padam 5 kms from the city.
Kalam House, Dhanushkodi is must visit.
one Night stay in Rameshwaram.
Day 3
Wake up at your ease and board a bus for Madurai. Road journey will take 3.5 hours. Get relax at hotel visit the Meenakshi temple after 4 pm.
Train for Kanyakumari at 1 am

Most of us have seen the photographs and videos of the famous Headhunters of Nagaland. Little did I know we could find them in Arunachal Pradesh too. Meet the Wancho Tribes - An indigenous tribe of Arunachal Pradesh. They are culturally the Nagas and ethnically related to the Konyak Tribes of Nagaland. I was recently invited by Arunachal Tourism to explore the new circuit called TCL (Tirap, Changland and Longding) that, the officials are planning to open for tourists. I got a chance to visit KONSA Village, which is the last village at the Indo-Myanmar border. The border is just one km from this village. You can still find a king and his monarchy in this village. I even got a chance to enter the King's house and witness their way of living, cultural performances and much more.
