Things To Do In Pune In Two Days - Historical Places, Food, Shopping and More

Hey everyone, Pune is very rich in culture, history and food. So we decided to spend 2 days here.
Here is what we did in these 2 days.

We started with taking blessings of Ganpati Bappa at Dagdusheth Halwai Temple located in Budhwar Peth and it is 4kms away from Railway station. This Temple is more than 100 years old.
Timing: 6AM to 11PM

Then we went to Shaniwar Wada which is very close to Dagdusheth Temple and by walking it takes only 5 mins to reach here. Time: 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM
Ticket Price: INR 20
Note: You have to buy tickets online by scanning the QR code, you can pay for it by UPI.

After that we went to Laal Mahal, where Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj spent his childhood with Aai Saheb Jijau.
It is located at just 2 mins walking distance away from Shaniwar Wada. (You can also cover this first after visiting Temple as it comes on the way to Shaniwar Wada from Dagdusheth Temple).
Time: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM & 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM

We were hungry after visiting Laal Mahal so we went straight to Pune’s iconic restaurant - Vaishali at FC road for Breakfast. It is very famous for their South Indian Food
Time - 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM

Then we went for Shopping at Chitale Bandhu Mithaiwala who made Bhakarwadi famous in all over India. We bought 2 kgs of Bhakarwadi.

After taking some rest it was time to have lunch and what could be better than Misal. We had Misal in one of the famous outlet in Pune - Katakirr Misal.
Time: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

We ended the day at Parvati Hills which overlooks Pune city and you can see a beautiful sunset from the hills.

Khadakwasla Dam Pune Maharashtra, Best place to visit for one day picnic, #inspiringstory, L.L

The Khadakwasla Dam is 1.6 km (1.0 mi) long. The dam has been built on the Mutha River, which begins from the confluence of the rivers Ambi and Mose on which the Panshet and Varasgaon Dams are built respectively, and the outflow from Temgarh Lake through Temgarh Dam[3] about 15 km (9.3 mi) north of Varasgaon Dam into Khadakwasla Lake. Mose river has been referred to as Mutha river and shown as such on some maps.[4] The length of the Khadakwasla backwaters is nearly 22 km (14 mi) and the width varies from 250 to 1,000 m (820 to 3,280 ft). The maximum depth in the lake is 36 m (118 ft). The dam has 11 radial type sluice gates and six irrigation outlets, flowing into two canals as explained below. Of the three feeder lakes, Varasgaon is the largest, followed by Panshet and Temgarh, in that order. The source of Panshet is close to the base of both Rajgad and Torna Forts and Panshet is the highest of the three, some 30 m (98 ft) higher than Khadakwasla. Varasgaon Lake is at the same level as Khadakwasla, and only water released deliberately moves into the Mutha, and then, on to Khadakwasla. Fort Rajgad does not reach the imposing height of Sinhagad Fort, stopping at 2851 feet above sea level.
The Panshet reservoir has a capacity of 2.70 million cubic meters, with Varasgaon reservoir, a larger body, having even more. The Khadakwasla Dam was founded on hard rock. It had a height of 31.25 m (102.53 ft) above the river bed, with a 8.37 m (27.46 ft) depth of foundation. Its crest length was 1.47 m (4.82 ft) and has a free board of 2.74 m (8.99 ft). The dam had a flood capacity of 2,775 m3/s and a reservoir of 2.78 million cubic meters. It cannot accept water from both Panshet and Varasgaon together, unless its sluice gates are fully open, causing an overflow of water into Pune, which would perforce allow the waters to end up in the Bhima River and add to water in reverse flow into the Mula River coming East all the way from Mulshi Lake and Dam south of Lonavla, a hill station some 50 km (31 mi) west of modern Pune. The plan envisaged control of these three dams to benefit the rapidly expanding city of Pune. The original dam, built in 1879 as a masonry gravity dam founded on hard rock was the first of its kind in the world. This dam was designed by Sir M. Visvesvaraya

One day Tour at Khadakwasla Dam Pune, Maharashtra. The dam on the Mutha River 21 km from the City centre of Pune in Maharashtra, India. The dam created a reservoir known as Khadakwasla Lake which is the main source of water for Pune and its suburbs.

Apart from its agricultural significance, Khadakwasla Dam also serves as a source of drinking water for the city of Pune. Water from the reservoir is treated and supplied to Pune for domestic use

The National Defence Academy (NDA), which is one of India's premier military training institutions, is located near Khadakwasla Dam. The dam and the surrounding area serve as a training ground for NDA cadets.

The dam and its surroundings have become a popular recreational spot for locals and tourists. People visit the area for picnics, boating, and enjoying the scenic beauty of the reservoir and the surrounding hills.

Khadakwasla Dam also plays a role in flood control by regulating the flow of the Mutha River during heavy monsoon rains, which helps prevent flooding downstream

The dam has historical significance as one of the oldest dams in the region and as a symbol of British colonial engineering

Pune Khadakwasla Dam | My First Experience Of #khadakwasla Dam | pune places to visit on weekend

???? #31 of 37 Places to Visit in Pune
????Distance :- (From Pune Railway Station): 18 Kms
????Trip Duration (Including Travel): 1 Hour
????Place Location: At Khadakwasla Village
????Transportation Options: Bus / Cab

At a distance of 18 km from Pune, Khadakwasla Dam, built across the Mutha River, is situated near Khadakwasla village in Pune district of Maharashtra. This is among the most visited tourist spots around Pune especially during the monsoons.

Khadakwasla Dam was constructed in the year 1873 to supply water to the city of Pune. The Khadakwasla Dam is 1.6 km long. The dam has been built on the Mutha River, which begins from the confluence of the rivers Ambi and Mose on which the Panshet and Varasgaon Dams are built, respectively and the outflow from Temgarh Lake through Temgarh Dam about 15 km north of Varasgaon Dam. The dam has 11 radial type sluice gates and six irrigation outlets, flowing into two canals.

This dam across the river Mutha created an attractive lake, now known as Khadakwasla Lake. The length of the Khadakwasla backwaters is nearly 22 km and the width varies from 250 to 1,000 m. The maximum depth of the lake is 36 m. The dam was however destroyed in the year 1961 because the water from the Panshet Dam had overflowed causing devastating floods in the city. The dam was rebuilt in the following years to counter the ongoing water crisis.

The Khadakwasla Dam is one of the main sources of water for Pune. A popular weekend picnic spot for the locals, even tourists are fascinated with the dam and the food chowpaty around it. Monsoon season is considered to be the best time to visit the dam. Among the main tourist attractions around the dam are Kudje Village, Peacock Bay and Neelkanteshwar Hill.
