Into The Heart of Kurdish Iran... Trouble in Kermanshah?

In the 17th episode of Paths Less Traveled - Iran, I reach Kermanshah (کرمانشاه), the biggest city and heart of the Kurdish North of Iran.

The trip was getting difficult at this stage. The protests in the country following the death in police custody of Mahsa Amini started just after I arrived in Iran but were getting bigger at this point, and the impact on the streets was a lot more noticeable.

As the protests spread from Amini's hometown of Saqqez in Iranian Kurdistan to other cities in the region, it wasn't surprising that the impact could be felt in Kermanshah, the biggest city.

While I stayed away from the protests on this day for my safety (I did not want to risk being arrested by the police or worse), the tension was clear on the street and much was closed.

The following morning, I learnt from locals that there had been big protests in the evening along with brutality from the riot police there.

This is the story of my strange time in Kermanshah.

On the way there I had the good chance to come by and visit and Iranian nomadic tribe, along with visiting the ancient city of Bisotun (بیستون). Also the beautiful Taq-e Bostan (طاق بستان) hisotrical site which was right by my hotel well out of the city center.

I was able to visit the city center, but found almost all shops in the bazaar shut due to the protests, along with the Shafei Jameh Mosque (مسجد جامع شافعی) and Tekiye Moaven Al Molk (تكيه معاون الملک).

Given the tension on the streets we wanted to get out of the pretty quickly but did find a place to buy and try the traditional Kermanshah sweets, Nan Berenji and Nan Khormaii.

Then it was quickly away from the center back out to the hotel area to eat the local Dande Kebab of barbeque ribs at a restaurant by Taq-e Bostan called Bishe.

PATHS LESS TRAVELED

In the late summer of 2022 I embarked on an epic road trip around Iran, during a time of unrest as protests escalated across the country.

Covering around 6200km over 24 days, I was able to see this incredible country in a way that many are not fortunate enough to see, and to record my experiences in a way that has not been done before.

Safety concerns meant that I had to limit my filming on occasion, and stay well away from any signs of the troubles going on.

However, what I did see was an incredible insight. Some of the most wonderful and welcoming people, incredible history and culture, and mind blowing food.

Paths Less Traveled - Iran is my story of my experiences, put in an in-depth series of Iran travel vlogs.

IRAN - Kermanshah Paveh in Oramanat 4K

Paveh is located in the Oramanat Mountainous region and to the extreme northwest of Kermanshah province. copyright itto.org From the west it is limited to Iraq. undefined Paveh has cold winters and temperate summers. The small mountainous city of Paveh is to the northwest of Kermanshah and located at a distance of 636 km. from Tehran. copyright itto.org The surrounding mountains are normally filled with fresh spring water from March to June. The town is also encircled with large fruit gardens which create a beautiful scenery during summers. Paveh is situated along a mountainside like most cities and villages in the Hewraman region. The name of Paveh is attributed to Paveh, one of the commanders of Yazdgerd III, who in order to seek the Kurd support settled in this region and was extremely respected by the people of this territory. The Dej and Pasgah forts which have remained since then are the relics of that era. The word Oramanat (Uramanat or Hewramanat) is derived from the word Uortan or Uorman and related to sacred Zoroastrian anthems.

Iran, Kermanshah Province -

Kermanshah Province is one of the eastern provinces in Iran; an important area from the historical and natural perspectives. In this video, we visited the beautiful natural environment of Rijab and its ancient landmarks, notably the Sassanid Yazdgerd III Castle or fort. We saw the Piran Waterfall and the Ejhdeha Valley (Dragon Valley) and the spring and river source near Rijab. On our way towards Sarpol-e Zahab, we visited Taqe Gara, the Zij-e Manijeh, Dukkan-e Daud Catacomb (or David’s Store Catacomb), the Anubanini rock relief, Gawri Wall and the Khosrow Palace, in person. Many people probably never heard of these places, and most people that travel to Kermanshah, just visit the city and the Bisotun Complex. I hope you enjoy the video and make sure to share it with your friends.

IRAN KERMANSHAH BISOTUN WORLD HERITAGE SITE | VLOG OF THIS HISTORIC SITE | (Stunning view)

Hello, I hope you have a good day. Today we came with a #vlog from the BISOTUN WORLD HERITAGE SITE ( kermanshah province )
#amazing #nature
As always, do not forget to like and subscribe.

Kermanshah Biston Complex is a world-famous and booklet of the few places in Iran that can be seen in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The caves, inscriptions, mirages and other places of Biston are all of great cultural, historical and natural value. Aside from all that Biston has to say, just watching this series is fun and enjoyable for everyone.

Biston is the name of a mountain that was located next to a busy path. The route that caravans and caravans always crossed and went in the same direction as Babylon and Baghdad. It is interesting to know that the name of this mountain originally meant Baghistan, the place of the gods. As historical documents show, the order to build the inscription and the relief on this mountain was first issued by Darius. But the interesting thing is that it took centuries for the world to understand what was going on in Biston.

In fact, it was in 1835 that a diplomat named Henry Rawlinson was able to unveil the mountain inscriptions with great perseverance. He was able to copy these different parts of this inscription for several years, and finally, by writing a book called Persian cuneiform inscriptions, he introduced everyone to this subject. Of course, later people like Edwin Norris, Abraham Jackson, Leonard King, Reynold Campson, George Cameron and several other scientists also tried to correct the objections of the previous people and provide a better reading by copying these inscriptions.
