Top best and unusual things to see in PRAGUE – Czech Republic

Prague has so many interesting attractions, I could only visit a select number of sights during my three-day stay. Sights you must not miss are the Astronomical Clock at Old Town Square, the famous Charles Bridge, Prague Castle and the hidden alchemy lab Speculum Alchemiae. Petřín Hill offers stunning views over the city and for those who like art, pay Reon Argondian’s Magical Cavern at the hill a visit.
The city also has many cool museums (which I will definitely visit next time!), such as the Museum of communism, the Kbely Aviator Museum and the National Technical Museum.

Cathedral of St. Peter & Paul | Petrov | Brno | Czech Republic | Things To Do In Brno

Check out our travel blogs and travel website for more content on the best places to visit around the world.

St. Peter & Paul Cathedral (or just Petrov in Czech) is one of the most important showplace in Czech Republic and view point number one in Brno. It is also pictured on Czech ten Koruna coin.

The history of Petrov is quite rich. In the 11th century, the Romanesque chapel was built. At the end of the 13th century, it was rebuilt to Basilica. After that, the Basilica was rebuilt into Gothic movement.

The southern and northern tower of the provides visitors with an amazing view of Brno and its surroundings after ascending the 130 steps. When you go up the stairs, you will find yourself next to the bells of the Cathedral.

EXPLORING TOURIST SPOTS, PRAGUE CASTLE, ROYAL THEATRE, JEWISH QUARTER AND A SKIING OUTING

#Prague #Travel #CzechRepublic

The Prague exploration continues, hitting the hot spots like Prague Castle at sunset and trying some traditional food. I decided to hit the town myself the next day and tasted some local street food, and dove deep into the Jewish Quarter and its multiple synagogues and jewish cemetery. It was a beautiful exploration although very heavy. The audio ticket offered me great insight into the history of the jewish community in Prague, highly recommend. We then met back up as a group and headed to the Royal Theatre for a performance of Beauty and the Beast that we had gotten for 7€ as a means to see the theatre on a budget, which was amazing, the theatre play was however confusing, in Czech and really scary, but such a good experience none the less. Our last day we spent on the slopes, I had organised a day trip all included to the snow so we could ski and so that Stuart could learn to ski. He did amazingly with us amateurs as his coaches, and we had an amazing day and evening playing in the snow. We then headed back in Britt's Fiat 500 all the way to the Netherlands, singing our hearts out to our favourite tunes along the way.

Prague Walking tour at Lesser Town and Petřín hill - A sense of spring ???????? Czech Republic 4k HDR ASMR

Experience the essence of spring on a captivating walking tour through Prague's Lesser Town and Petřín Hill. Revel in the scenic beauty and vibrant atmosphere as we explore this charming area. Don't miss out. Join us now!

Malá Strana (Lesser Town of Prague) is a district of Prague, Czech Republic, and one of its most historic neighborhoods. It is on the left (west) bank of the river Vltava, on the slopes just below Prague Castle. The name distinguishes it from the more prominent districts of Prague on the right bank, with which it is linked by the Charles Bridge.
Initially, when it was founded in 1257, the district was called the New Town beneath Prague Castle (Czech: Nové Město pod Pražským hradem). When Charles IV founded the New Town of Prague in 1348, Malá Strana was renamed the Lesser Town of Prague (Czech: Menší Město pražské). In the 17th century, the unofficial name Little Quarter (Czech: Malá Strana) was used.[iew of Malá Strana from St. Nicholas Church
In 1419-1420 the Malá Strana was burnt down by Hussites. In 1541 the town was strongly damaged by a fire that killed fifty people. After this fire, the city was rebuilt in the Renaissance style, and many palaces of nobility were built there.

Petřín Hill is one of the largest urban green areas, and its slopes are an oasis of calm in Prague. The Rose Garden, or rosarium, at the top of Petrin Hill, Nebozízek Garden, and the Seminary Garden, with more than 2,100 fruit trees, are particularly magical. A favorite destination for families with children and couples in love. The easiest way to reach the top of the hill is with the funicular. Petrín Lookout Tower is famous for its incredible city views, and the mirror maze is an endless source of giggles. Walking paths crisscross the park and are lined with benches with great ideas; there are even several playgrounds here. Petřín Hill, above the Vltava river between Malá Strana and Strahov, is one of the most extensive green areas in the city, with the highest elevation above sea level reaching 320 - 238 m. The first written reference about it dates back to 1108 when the last members of the Vršovec family were executed in the local execution place. Back then, the hill was covered by a deep forest stretching to Bílá Hora. The name Petřín was probably first used in the 17th century and may be derived from the Latin word Petrus (the rocks). The original name was German - Laurenzberg - after the Chapel of St. Vavřinec (Laurenz), built here at the turn of the 10th century. The forest gradually gave way to vineyards and farming lands in the Middle Ages. In the 14th century, Charles IV had a Hunger Wall built here. It is 1178 m long, 7.5 - 8 m high, and the average width is 170 cm. One explanation says he wanted to employ the starving citizens when there was no crop to harvest, but the point probably was to provide Malá Strana with new fortification. Since 1980, extensive restoration of the badly damaged Hunger Wall has been realized in stages to return it to its original state. A romantic observation place called Citadela from the last century is again used for its original purpose. Since long ago, there have been lots of springs rising from the Petřín hills, so an aqueduct was built here. It was a system of tunnels bringing water to the Strahov monastery, Pohořelec, and Malá Strana. The tunnels went through several reconstructions. In 1965, water that kept undermining Petřín caused a landslip damaging the cableway track and causing other damages. After rebuilding and completion, seventeen tunnels lead the Petřín spring to the Vltava. Over centuries, Petřín hill was divided into several gardens, the cultivation of which mainly dates back to the 1830s. The most extensive garden, Kinský Garden, was established outside the ramparts and thus forms a separate unit.
